The blasters have been enduring stress and agonizing feelings because of the current wedding episodes where matters turned serious for the lead couple. The nature of the marriage has brought in deep discussions vis-a-vis the emotional feelings of the bride and groom, the justification of the decision taken, the sanctity of the marriage, etc. Also, the events and rituals taking place unknowingly leading upto the marriage are also being perused.
Arshi has been verifying the happenings with a magnifying glass and has been very successful in finding those situations where the couple have taken pheras symbolically. Indi too has been studying the same and has concluded that they have been behaving like man and wife for some time. Indi and Horizon are in detailed discussions regarding the types of Hindu marriages and under which category this marriage would fall in. Meanwhile, IssK is trying to map the route that Anjali has taken for her mandir darshan. Indi insists she went to another state altogether. Sohara is back to venting her anger on Buaji for her weird double standards. All in all, discussions on the episodes are just at the beginning stage and are expected to continue for some time.
There have been mini celebrations for two of our blasters whose status got promoted to the next level. Indi, who turned IF-Sizzlerz sometime back, couldn't believe that she made ten thousand posts on IF. Meanwhile, ArshiHamesha, who turned IF-Rockerz recently, couldn't decipher what these constant colour changes meant and why celebrations were required for the same. While both the blasters get used to their new status, we congratulate them on their achievements.
BFTP is on the verge of taking another breather next week. It is expected that this breather will be a longer one. Also, the blasters have decided to celebrate the completion of 200 episodes during the breather period. From the news desk, a huge congratulations to everyone associated with the thread, on the completion of the second century.

Another fantastic news update...
Yuppie... 200 episodes... Great job blasters... Will catch you all with my own news update...

episode 187

it's "bahut saare mombatti ka din", valentine's day.

"do dilon ke meeting ka din, couples ka din... mombatti ka din..." a day for two hearts to meet, a day for couples... a day of candles, says the innocent and pure nand kishore, always the friend, the facilitator of heart related matters; krishna's namesake of course had to remind us which day it was.

payal corrects, "mohabbat ka din."

it was indeed a day of mohabbat. the word mohabbat comes from the arabic root "hab" i think, which means heart. and today the heart would be tried. sorely. mercilessly. terrifyingly.

1. the battle intensifies

episode opened on the staccato beat of drums... a sense of impending catastrophe, ominous. two men faced each other. looked like it would be a fight to the death. from 186, a feeling of chakravyuh and the honourable warrior is now in it... no way out. yet he will fight.

from years ago, an epic hero came to mind, beowulf... and the monster he took on with bare hands, the hideous and rapacious grendel...

who would live, who would survive, who would bear the cost of this horrific battle.

through gritted teeth and ripping crazy pain, asr said, "meri di ne iss ghar mein aap ko itni izzat di... itni izzat di... aapne aur khushine milkar jo hamare saath dhoka kiya hai, usske liye main aapko..."

in this house my di gave you so much respect, khushi and you have together deceived us, for which i shall...

the shape shifting monster jeered, "kam se kam shabd toh dhang ke istemal kijiye na, arnav, ji." at least use proper words, arnav ji.

a feeling of a pressure cooker about to explode.

"jise aap dhoka kah rahe hain... woh hamara pyaar hai khushi ji ke liye." what you call deceit is in fact my love, for khushi.

as a whole house full of people went about happily organising a joyous occasion; singing, dancing, reveling, dressing up, shouting, rushing around... a man's entire world fell apart.

no one to hear the tearing of his heart, the shredding of his emotions, the dying of his happiness.

at 14 he was alone, at 27, why should it be any different?

a pattern repeated itself. that night too there was a wedding on, and he was by himself he'd heard his father was untrue to his mother. tonight it was rubbed in his face that the only man he had trusted after his father's betrayal... his beloved jeeja ji, who he believed was devoted to his sister, was in fact also just a common, low down cheat. and as if that were not enough, this time life played a more devastating game, the one the monster cheated with was the girl who made his heart beat faster, without whom his very breath might stop. no exaggeration, exactly as his di had said.

shyam used the word pyaar, love... yet, all he really felt for khushi was a four letter word: lust.

asr is stricken to hear his brother in law say that word for a woman other than his sister. and also his heart lurches with pain when he hears another man say that word in connection with khushi. his tender, newly identified sensations of love, that made him flirt, and play, and smile, after so many years, all they had was a day to frolic.

and then this.

the game was set so well... the conflict has almost an ancient eternal design... archetypal. a larger than life, passionate, courageous, straight forward, honest man with a fragile heart and a great capacity for love, tripped up by a shallow, uncouth creature, a product of dark slithering things, who knows neither love nor courage nor the straight and the narrow.

and yet it is that in life again and again, such creatures will get the better of the heroes among us.

"khushi ji hamari zindagi ban chuki hai, hamara pagalpan, hamara diwanapan, hamara sab kuch..."

khushi ji has become my life, my madness, my craze, my everything, said a ranting shyam, out to do maximum damage.

asr couldn't bear this, his eyes closed... the body blows that had started on a terrace, resumed; hitting target every time.

"aur ab hum dono ke beech sirf ek rukawat hai... raanisahiba!" and now between us there's but one obstacle, raanisahiba.

on that last word, the game took a turn... in a mercurial instant, the lover was overshadowed by the brother. his primary responsibility, his dear beloved sister, he would let nothing, nothing hurt her. every year on rakhi he made that promise to her, the only religious tradition that had meaning for him... like a soldier he has disciplined himself to be her protector.

the brother turned around , his instinct to defend aroused... fully armed, said his eyes.

shyam is shameless, reckless, high on some belief that he is going to win this one... he declares he never loved anjali...

heartbreaking to watch an innocent strong man feel the smite of deceit... a thing he knows nothing of. nothing. he has his dad's gussa maybe, but none of his galat.

which is why he is so unprepared for this low down skirmish, he fights fair, head held high. in fact, he can even come across as arrogant in his refusal to bow down.

way back when we first met him, a slap on moolrajani's's face... no, two slaps, but give him a crore of rupees for each slap... and then too, he had fought because his mother was mentioned in a derogatory fashion.

two opposites are arrayed here against each other... the innocent versus the clouded, the murky, the unclean.

as khushi runs around looking for asr, the battle rages behind closed doors. shyam threatens, he goads, he uses his wife as his all powerful weapon. how will you tell your di, what would it do to her, would she believe you?

this war is going nuclear clearly.

when hp comes to call them just as asr is ready to beat the knave up, he mocks, "arre wah, toh jalsa shuru!" wonderful, now starts the entertainment... hysterical and frenzied.

in contrast, the slow smooth deliberate glide of asr's irises and their steel like glint... his jawline hardening. it sure chilled shyam's innards and entrails. which is why even though he feigned a triumphant exit, he did look back to check whether he had succeeded or not and was later found fretting and worrying for his safety.

2. the proxy lovers

elsewhere, akash actually tried to get rid of nk and wrangle a lovey dovey chat with his payal ji. maybe there's some hope for this boy i thought, even though i knew where that tale went. i heard akash tell payal "main aapse bahut pyaar karta hoon aur hamesha karta rahunga..." i love you a lot and will do so forever.

just the words asr had hoped to say.

reminded me of an evening far away when asr had looked at stars and for the first time allowed anyone into his tightly closed inner world of maa and all its pain... and parallel to this akash had set up a meeting with payal in the park, an awkward but heartfelt attempt to tell payal of his love. that evening too it had seemed as though the episode design used akash and payal to hint at what asr and khushi would say to each other some day.

akash's key words that night:
"aisa lagta hai ki uske bina jee nahin paayenge... jaise main nahin jee paaoonga apke bina... payalji, mujhe aapse pyaar ho gaya." one day asr would say exactly that to khushi... "main tumhare bina jee naheen paaoonga... promise me, you'll never leave me."

today again payal and akash said things that the two lovers were meant to say to each other...

"aaj ka din bahut accha hai..." today is a very good day. yes, it would have been, it might have been.

"hum bhi aap se bahut pyaar karte hain," i too love you a lot, said payal... it will be a while before khushi finally says it.

yet another night of wedding, deception and tragedy ticked away.

3. the night plays a trick again.

he came to the head of the stairs looking for his di, khushi saw him, he didn't see her... she was expectant, happy she'd found him at last, ready to tell him everything, though i did feel khushi might have been a bit more frantic than she was, given the situation.

she started walking to him, light, floaty, still feeling his flirt and love, still hoping to hear what he had to say, wanting to reach him.

he saw her... a falling away of sound, a gust of wind, and a crash of disaster.

she stood there smiling at him tentatively, completely unaware that their world has been turned upside down.

he looked back at her, nostrils flaring, his gussa coming in to protect a very fragile heart. two loves battled in him... the one he had trained himself to take care of... he will protect.

the other... what will he do with the other?

a dark threatening air is building, storm gathers, you can feel its rumble... no matter how light and sweet nk, akash, and payal are.

memories cut through him sharply... how much he'd desired her, wanted her... he had yearned to to kiss her... he had held her in his arms and danced with her telling her so much, he'd felt jolted when he thought he'd lost her.

what if i lost you?

he'd kissed her.

he seethed as he remembered and anger mixed with intense pain, almost injury, gathered in his eyes.

she smiled...

she clutched her hands, she had to tell him.

but he just looked ... and remembered her in another man's arms.

and her "agar aap ke liye... chor di jiye anjali ji ko!" leave anjali ji!

his hands clenched into a tight fist. all the anger and angst and fury there.

but in front of a hall full of people, he will not create chaos... it is akash's wedding... he cares about his family too much... a sense of occasion.

he came down the familiar steps, gaze fixed on her face... when he reached her, she didn't notice his hard expression, "arnav ji, hum aap hi ko dhoond rahe the" said she. i was looking for you.

"hume aap se kuch baat karni thi..." i wanted to speak to you about something, she continued. he walked toward her, perhaps wanting to haul her to a quiet place an give her hell, but di's voice came in the way... if this conversation had happened before he met di...

well, again life played a complex game. he did not get a chance to speak to khushi. i often asked myself why he didn't come to her, even if to accuse and berate... but now i realise, he did. it was not to be.

4. and again a twist.

he saw his di... his entire thought stream turned. he ignored khushi's call and walks away...

"di, mujhe aap se kuch baat karni hai!" di , i need to talk to you.

holding his sister's hands in both of his, that one gesture saying more than words ever can, he struggled.

then he turned away... alas, this time to speak the truth.

"di, jeeja ji aap ko dhoka de rahe hai... he's cheating on you" he blurted out and hurtled into the words he so hated saying.

this is so asr... up front, honest, guile free about certain things. he knew it would hurt his sister, but his instinct possibly said she would be able to handle it... and plus he would not want her to be kept in the dark about such a sick thing. so he went to tell her... shyam's gambit failed. but the night was out to trick him.

one other thing... this same man, however, could not bring himself to tell khushi why he hated her, why he was so mad at her...nothing. that too was so asr, to even say such a thing to her would kill him, he just couldn't... he loved her too too deep inside him already... the only happiness he'd ever asked for himself... the girl who felt like sunshine, who took the cold icy darkness away from his life. who he wanted to flirt with and have fun with and love and say "faraq padta hai" to. sad sad sad.

it was only when she took everything to a ridiculous chaotic extreme... suicide, that finally he just hurled it at her... wanting to hurt her even. with her somehow he always was himself, never a role, not even when he tried.

when he looked back, he saw di had passed out...

di di di di di di di ankhe kholo...

a crescendo of di rose, i thought of his voice calling khushi months later on a cliff top.

open your eyes, he said to her. again the writers hinted perhaps at anjali's gandhari like blindness. she would not see anything negative in her husband. she couldn't, she wouldn't, even with eyes wide open. funny how people can live together for years and never really know the truth about each other... that too happens.

desperately he sought doctor, water, some relief for his dear sister. "di, i am so sorry, di... di, hume maaf kar do... di, aapko batana zaroori tha..." he who hardly spoke kept saying things, asking for forgiveness, reassuring, saying it was necessary to hurt her so he did.

when asr loved there was no limit, no mean streak, no holding back... this seemingly cold man had the greatest capacity to love... and to give. and to suffer for those he loved.

"i... i'm really sorry..." he's almost in tears... beautiful and so very natural in this situation. his heart has taken such a terrible beating on this lovely valentine's day evening.

it had to be this evening, of course, when two hearts would get wrenched and torn asunder... but through it all would hold on a desire, a longing, a light, a mombatti already lit that will have the power to burn all evil and let two hearts unite.

di hasn't heard a thing... and soon will come the news that will change everything... forever and chay mahine ke liye.

shyam used the word pyaar, love... yet, all he really felt for khushi was a four letter word: lust.
Its truly nothing but lust but why can't Arnav take this meaning out after all he also knows a psychi of men. Khushi's is Shaym paagalpan and he want her and could go any limit to get her in his life but the same fire is also seen in Arnav's fire, he could also keep khushi with him for the sake of his Di happiness and he carries more potential for this even more than Shyam.

With in moments his life changes just like it did 14 year back. That day his father was responsible and now its his jijaji. It feel worst when you give a person a special place in your heart and place him on the pedestal and later when the truth comes out that he wasn't worth for it gives a terrible pain. That day his mother suicide because she can't bear the pain of betrayal by his father and now Arnav felt the same fear clouding his mind and heart that his Di may do the same but somewhere he knows that if he supports his sister through this tough time their will get over it.

and then this.

Love the comparison ❤️

as khushi runs around looking for asr, the battle rages behind closed doors. shyam threatens, he goads, he uses his wife as his all powerful weapon. how will you tell your di, what would it do to her, would she believe you?

The shine in her eyes gives the news of love which will soon be covered with the dirt of mistrust, hate and pain. Sadness will take place of smile. love is not easy, pure love always give tests and have to crossover every hurdle and hardship because love need to be shine so that it can bright the life and what would be any other perfect day than valentines day to begin this journey.
Yeh ishk nahin assan, bas itna samajh li jye, ek agg ka darya hai orr doob key janna hai.
like Arnav khushi is too a warrior who has taken a pledge to always shield her family from every trouble because she always thought that she is the only cause. She got a roof to cover her head, a place called home to shield her and a family who give her love, for her these are the beneficence for which she is always ready to pay the price and she will never back down from them, not even at the cost of her life.

STUPENDOUS 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Misunderstandings, Manipulating and Betrayal, these three emotions are shaping the night like the nights of 14 years back. But Arnav is adamant that he won't be effected from them and neither will let the pain cause by these emotions touch his only family, his Di. Previously when Arnav had gone through this pain he didn't caught the destroyer and punished but now he wont spare anyone. Shyam has crossed all the limits of insanity and villainy. He has make fun of love, care and trust Arnav and his family give to Shyam.
I feel very sad for Arnav, though he look a warrior who is perfectly hiding his turmoil going on in his heart and fighting with it but one can clearly see the effect of drastic changes occur with in moments. One moment he was happy to recognize his love and was on his way to confess it, next moment he was utterly shocked seeing his love cheating on him. He could bear the consequences, pain and he knows that his sister will get effected of this and he can't let that happen but he has inform about this to his Di. She is his elder, she may help him and sooth him like she always did but he is not lucky again, he has to deal everything on his own. He has always manages everything alone for a long time starting from building an empire from a scratch and dealing his mother loss. Anjali also didn't hear anything and the big news of the day that Anjali is expecting has left no other way for Arnav to treat the current mess created by Shyam and khushi in his life and find the solution being ASR, Rakshaah Laad Governor.

He has make fun of love, care and trust Arnav and his family give to Shyam.

thanks so much, javeria. 🤗

watching these episodes is exhausting, and then getting my thoughts together ufff, yet it is entirely rewarding 😳. to get an enthusiastic response to it... a super good feeling.

enjoyed everything you wrote... misunderstandings, manipulating, betrayal indeed.

about asr not being able to sense shyam's lust... i don't think he could even think coherently when he saw the two on the terrace. and while one picture was that of shyam holding khushi in a lascivious embrace... the other was perhaps even more damning: khushi pushing shyam away and saying, if this relationship means nothing then break it, chhor dijiye anjali ji ko.

that must have blown asr away. the girl he loved telling his sister's husband to leave his sister. the sister who was a lifeline in many ways, who kept him connected to thsi world somehow... whose happiness was the only thing he cared about.

he obviously thought this was a lover's tiff. where khushi was insisting that shyam leave his wife otherwise she was not going to give him what he wanted.

also, javeria... that lust thing. i don't believe it's a male's or female's prerogative. men and women both can have a lot of it, depends on ones nature.

i never sensed any lust in asr for khushi. in fact, he was remarkably circumspect in such matters, never allowing his anger to go out of hand and turn into a sexual thing which it easily could have given the roiling and craziness he went through. i believe asr molesting khushi was considered. thankfully it was not pursued, because that would have been so not asr.

even with la, who was his live in partner... he was respectful. always that. that is asr. women deserved respect in his eyes. they were not sex objects.

only with kkg he lost it and behaved uncharacteristically... but then their's was a relationship that was different from all their other relationships with the rest of the world. within that, things happened and got resolved in their private intimate world.

in the context of episode 187 and the forced wedding days

love and lust.

in crooner 84, i'd chatted about this on 21/22 june 2012, soon after the telepathy episode. i just wanted to share the post here... because the picture of shyam stooped over khushi, arms tightly around her, groping and suffocating, as camera goes all around them, just freaks me out. and i can feel a fine young man, a lover going quietly crazy.

priya,

beena's post made me read the following lines again from your earlier response:

"Thats why when Khushi whenever she says to Shyaam - "ki aap dono ne mere saath galat kiya hai" - she is right ...and she means it - but wat she has realised now the difference in their intentions ..."

would love to ponder this a moment. in a way they were both unmindful of her feelings and unfair to her in the grip of the emotion they felt for her.

there was shyam's lust leading to the engagement she was practically coerced into. interesting how, a man who seemed fairly decent in the beginning, at least when he saved her that very first time, completely lost it as his feelings grew and he was more and more entranced. did he never have a sense of morality? or is he a character that operates outside the purview of morality as we understand it? everything depends on whether it serves his purpose or not: he can be perfectly decent, very much so in fact, till something thwarts his desire, however big or small. and then in an instant, the moral compass is lost completely, he is thrashing about in a dark turbulent ocean of his unfulfilled desires and anything goes to get him what he wants. he can try to kill a man for knowing he is married and thus can't marry the object of his desire. yes, khushi is an object to him, as is the whole wide world. as long as they please him, he is a gem of a guy. instead of trying to kill babuji, he might have tried to talk and spin a yarn about a difficult marriage, etc. but no, in an instant, murder he says. same with anjali. and how delusional to think that khushi, who has never shown the slightest interest in him and now virtually despises hom, will actually be attainable the moment he is single again. well, if to you all she is is a thing, an object, i guess you could imagine that. see her as a person and you'll know this ain't gonna work. and now this kidnapping. is it for money? is it to punish arnav for daring to snatch his o of d away from him and then on top of that cutting him off from the funds? i remember him contorting and twitching around this point a short while back post the credit card incident i think. if your bro in law's actions pose a problem for your izzat, no problem... kidnap and kill.

interesting character, shyam. does even he know why he does what he does? and how disproportionate the amount of energy and evil he expends to the injury, real or perceived, suffered by him? there's a curious man here. he wants to be good, see he knows his shastras, he treats his wife with sensitivity, he is always respectful toward khushiji as he reminds buaji. what is he to do if this bad bad world doesn't let him get his way. then he must do something about it, right?

arnav loves her. he has never felt such an emotion, with its particular intensity ever before. all the signs his di and akash had described as those of love he has begun to feel. no, he's never felt this before. he is going to tell her as much. arnav singh raizada is a "karta," not one to sit around and let things happen to him. the moment his mind synthesizes all the confusing feelings within: why he can't bear to see her tears, why he wants to be around her, why he almost broke down when he thought he'd lost her. what, what if he lost her. the moment he knows why he feels this way, he decides to act on it. an early morning visit just to look at her, a problem solver... the moment she has a problem with those plates and the waiters that don't show up, a flirtatious young man enjoying the lead up to the big declaration, oh he is so in. then an accident that could have taken his only emotional mainstay from a young age till now, and a treacherous embrace.

he loses it. precisely because of the depth of those feelings he has for her. and perhaps also because of his lack of experience in this arena. untried, unprepared, he shatters. in that state, an act of injustice toward her. he also treats her like an object. he forces her into this contract marriage, instead of talking to her, asking her, above all, trusting her. he commits the undeniably unfair act, even more intolerable because he loves her. how can you love someone and treat them this way? or is it precisely for that reason that one does? confusing.

yet post that wedding, he has never really hurt her, even when he's wanted to he's ended up hurting himself. and most certainly he's never succumbed to any sexual desire he might or might not have felt. the night of the bali fiasco or at the gupta house when she slept beside him the first time or when he held her hand or for that matter at any and several points he must have felt the stirrings of desire, here was the first woman he'd ever fallen in love with, and she was his wife. and he no vestal virgin too. but he does what he believes is right. i have grown to love the character even more in these post wedding months. strangely, barun sobti who in most interviews makes funny faces about asr and khushi's little interludes, said just before the gobar incident i think, that he has to say asr is a decent bloke, got to give it to him. wo, honoured!

khushi begins to understand that. which is why perhaps she really needs no explanations any more, all she wants is that he should believe her. the compellingly beautiful phase of submission to love is on. acknowledging is but the beginning only. this giving in to love and accepting it as what matters above all, explores the incredible range and colour of this feeling.

lust compared to that is narrow and lacking in colour. it's only about the mortal, the carnal, the three dimensional. there is no telepathy, no soul in lust.

as i write, am thinking we are learning of both love and lust through the three people. if written and portrayed with depth and skill, would be a treat to watch.

just talking, if it makes no sense, forgive.

Yes Di, Arnav never crosses his limits during and before the marriage track. He didn't lust for lust, he harbors pure and unbound love for khushi. You are right telepathic conversation don't occur between the two who lust. He has always respected khushi and gives her space, his desires sometimes got out of control like that in dewali but he got over them. He has never make khushi uncomfortable around him and that's the best thing i like about Arnav. He even very patiently introduce khushi to the world of intimacy being careful and thoroughly knowing the fact that it will be khushi's first time.

Loved your 187.and this shot which you put together .

This moment, for is the first moment in between them when she was standing on her her grounds firmly in front of this Shaitan who was saying whatever to her about her sister but when table turned he had nothing to say just to unleash the demon within. That day is standing in front of him and he forgot completely in his anger "What she said that day?"
Again he is going to unleash his demon but the difference is ,that day he just let her go and today he is going to bind her with him.BUT THE TRUTH which she said that day and for what he had no answer except breaking her Dori, breking the respect of her soul is still STANDING on it's ground ,WHAT WILL HE DO IF SOMEONE DO ANYTHING TO HER SISTER? and he is ready to give answer of that question today.Even he is going to marry her but he still couldn't do much for his sister and the person who id responsible for it.What an irony.

Di,

I might be not as good as you and ArshiH is but is it so hard for anyone to respond me or even PM me.Durga is the only one who PM me.Thanks Durga Di.
I totally felt outsider here but I do like nice write ups to read.Seems like welcome board is only for some people.

hi mehreen,

that's a cool edit up there. sorry i didn't pm you... actually when we started 23 i thought i found all the newcomers and pm-ed them individually. i'll send a friend request, please accept and i'll pm you my takes. no need to feel like an outsider or anything, just take part in the blast and you're part of it 😳. in fact, i didn't see you for awhile and thought you got busy with something.

i really liked your thoughts on his reaction to his sister being mentioned on the first day and now. yes he let her go that time and this time he tied her to him... in fact, i have finally found what it is i really felt about the marriage and strangely it is also to do with their first meeting and the dori. hopefully, next week i'll write that one out.
