Thanks Faiqa. Yes, those gazes. How much Khushi saw in those eyes and how much she wanted to believe what she saw. But his behaviour always left her more and more confused and disappointed.

khushi feels thoughts and emotions and fears and desires mingle? what is truth after all, who will ever know... lovely poem durga. all of it very moving. that stanza extra pretty for me.

Thanks Indi. That stanza, that scene, her stare as he picked her up, she really wanted to know what was in his mind. Time and again, he has been saying in public that she is his wife, yet he doesn't treat her so. His eyes say something, his actions convey the opposite. But a hope that perhaps he means what he says in public and then a realisation that all this would actually never happen.
