A very interesting topic in this forum after a while. Loved the discussions and the pointers people shared..
First thing, if not for IPK I might not even have known IF and what is a fanfic..My fanfic addiction started with arshi and I am never going to read about any other pair/show..
I was a silent reader for a while, started to give comments later and I am in hibernation again
So, I don't think I qualify to give opinions about authors and their ignoring readers etc

This discussion is too tempting to resist to give my 2 cents...I joined pretty late in the discussion and I think most of the blatant issues are already shared..

The first thing that gets me to open a story is the name..some titles are so cheesy or harlequin-ish that I literally cringe seeing it...such a big turn off for me to even try it with the cliched aped names..

Big font and glaring color coding hurts my eyes, so I try to avoid these kind of stories, or just finish off in a couple of mins if I must..
Play type conversation totally repels me. I usually do not follow such writers.

I have high tolerance levels and when I am utterly bored I can pretty much read anything..but even I cannot tolerate some stories which go round and round and round..not much story lines, but drags till 50 chapters with the same kind of situations repeat every 10 chapters..I just stop..

One more thing I observed is, some stories have forced angst...Just to make it a complex story or seem to make ASR character complex, this is induced. It is neither appealing nor interesting..I feel bored reading those angry ASR types with unnecessary forced pain..

And the Khushi portrayal I hate is the too much sacrificing and over the top goodness...takes crap from every one and utterly selfless..these are good things but so unrealistic, sometimes it comes as pathetic...I read such stories and liked a few for their story, but I am not very much appreciative of Kushi in those..

So much mature content in the name of dark or 18+ stories..once in a while as per the flow is fine, but some stories seem to base only around it..I don't read those...

Cheesy lines and milky white/doe eye/petal lips Khushi descriptions makes me laugh and looks like a kiddish attempt..but I do not hate them..just amusing 😊.. I am partial to new writers, I try to follow when I come across an interesting attempt..

SMS words, shortcuts and aping of so called cool lingo is a bummer..

So much for 2 cents...

* too dark/ tragic stories
* more than story sex ...
* non Arshi
* Female protagonist a abala naari, takes all the insults still serves everyone loves everyone, living for others ... ( may be I am a partial(50%) feminist )
* long breaks and non frequent updates

Second ha ha gol gappe

I will refer yours and rasgullas stories in that category except her fairy tale one. That was of different genre and I liked it.

Most of the stories I read belong to the gang of beautiful writers here which includes you too zehra. Not flattering though .

And will not be fan girl as meera warned me. Im fangirl of only one certain Chop-Tea😆

Dedicated my fangirlism of life time to that man

Im jealous on you siblings " you think I dunno about you guys. U are mistaken

Im silent reader of all you gangs and stories, and outside the gang too.

Sorry not to offend any one 😳

A very interesting post. For me the criterias will be :
- Dark FF's
I dont read dark FF's it puts me off . I dont cherish reading about very agressive Arnav who punish Khushi for the mistakes she hasnt done or who uses Khushi like an animal)
- Too much of emotional story content
I dont like stories that has too much of drama ( Lot of negative characters / a unhappy Khushi all the time ) .I rather prefer a light hearted romance or a humor story than the drama genre.
-Non-Arshi story
- A story which has way too many characters.I sort of get confused and i avoid reading them.
- Writing style ! dont like to read a story with way too many grammer mistakes. It kind of loses the essense of the story.I can understand typos After all , the writers ( Including me ) update in hurry at times and will not have time to proof read. But having lot of grammer errors will make it difficult to understand the story.
- I cant follow a story with way too many descriptions than dialogs.
- Due to work pressure and updating 3 ffs every week. I get very little time.So i read only completed stories or OS's .Its not like am ignoring ongoing stories.Just that i dont have time to follow them regularly.I dont want to start reading something and comment only to leave it halfway. If i find a story line/prologue really interesting i bookmark it and go back to it when its completed and comment for all chapters in one go.

You've made a really good post.
For me it should be an Arshi story. Thats a must ofcourse.
And the writer should update it regulalry. And i dont like too much dark and mature stuff.
I agree with your point that the writers giving notes is quiet helpful.

I dont read story by authors who:

1) put their story in more flashbacks/ past which has nothing to do with the story rather then in the present which will make more sense of what is going to happen and going on.
2) the story that has a concept that is dragged for example khushi is in the hospital from chapter 3 and she's still unconscious in chapter 15 and its still the same day she got unconscious.

3) who also updates after a month with out giving a note. That pis$es me off. And after a month they give such a short update and expect you to read and get 20 pages of comments and also blackmail that if they dont get 20 pages they will discontinue.

4) if a story has shown khushi's character too weak like khushi wont stand up for her self when she is being punished and when arnav regrets for what he has done that's when she decides to stand up for her self like where was your courage till now and also if a women character is shown too weak.

5) also if there is too much drama like shyam goes to jail every chapter and he keeps coming back in every other chapter from jail

6) most importantly if one scene is shown from 5 point of view for example the point of view are of 5 main characters and in the story khushi meets arnav and the author keeps on showing in every freaking chapter how khushi reached arnav and 5 chapters have to be the same scene but different point of view. not to be mean but that is so unattractive im not saying the story concept is boring but the way the story is portrayed and the story gets boring

7) if a story is too dark or too cheesy

8) if a story every new chapter starts from a whole different story and ur confuse of what has happened after the previous chapter

So these are the things that I find annoying about a story and don't read the story and doesnt have to be everyone to find these thing unattractive but I do.

nice post.

- Updating Regularity:
it helps when the author updates us on the status of their story...why they are not able to update and so on... we are an understanding lot, aren't we all.?

- Format:
no short form, cz i dont want to spend time trying to guess what those words meant ... and it has to have a mixture of descriptions and dialogues.

- A non-ArHi story:
it should be arshi only..
i got turned off when the story revolves arnd arnav liking someone who reminds him of kushi...
the same goes for kushi too..

- Acknowledgement from the author:
it makes me happy when i see a 'like'..
it shows that the writer DO read my worth a 2cents comment...

- The Author's Bias:
echo your thoughts on this one too..

I Agree with almost all points Zehra for me too long wait is a big turn off however beautiful the story is /how much i like it!!!
Then one of the most reasons i DONT Read a story is its wayyy too dark Arnav is a Playboy & completly Slaughtering Arnav/Khushi's char thats makes me stop reading FFs for a while .. i love Authors who keep me hooked to their stories ...in many ways
Coming to Blog stories i DONT understand why some authors are so biased either they dont read your PM for sending an invitation or they stay its closed whom are the stories for if not readers? strange! + Love when writers acknowledge and appreciate your efforts for commenting :)
