EPISODE 71

Janmashtami has indeed set up the game plan for all the players at all levels.King[ Arnav] and Queen[Khushi] are ready to make their moves against each other in such a way that it will bring them closer.The slithery rook[Shyam]with his tricky and intricate game plan is ready to get what is not his at the first place.The game plan of joined Divine forces is above of all isn't it.👏

The game is getting intriguingly attractive as Knights[Akash and Payal] are about to join in with full swing.Our Bishop[Naniji] is in her full mode of action with her game plan for King and Queen.😉

All the pawns will be helping hands in these moves for joining these divine soul mates. -Great opening!

Pooja is done and so are the promises either before or after the Janmashtami, as King's promise is to his Di "mein aapki Khushi keh liye Khuch bhi Kar sakta hoon"[I can do anything for you,Di] .Queens Promise to her family"Apne parivaar keh liye sab Manzoor hai"[For the sake of family everything is acceptable]..Slithery Rook's promise is ,"Hum Khushiji ko apna bana keh raheingey" [I will make Khushi mine] Soothing Rook[Anjali]'s promise"hum har hal mein, 'suhk ,dukh, ..aache and bure samein mein aap ki Dhal ban kar rahain gey"[ I will always stand by you like a pillar through thin and thick]ALL THESE promises are the main theme of this game written divinely and heavenly but with the shadow of darkness.Action plans are being reserved and ready to act for next perplexed moves.

Action Plan by Knights[Akash and Payal]

Buaji"Sab ki maffi ki dore us keh haath mein hai"[God is forgiven indeed.]She is just like Khushi as she has a golden heart filled with Love.Father's concern is being obliged by the son to have the honor to take Gupta ladies home regardless of his fussy mother.Buaji's concerns for Khushi were well received by Naniji and that is the bond which gets stronger with age and wisdom over the years by elders and you don't need to say much .

Sharing of emotions and having glimpses through viewing mirror was adding the melody in the BG music.Very soft and soothing tones just like the smell of the rain drops on a dry land -mmm one of my fav smells esp when it falls on mitti, nice line.Buaji's comparison was a bit hard for me to digest as she is indeed Khushi's Buaji seeing only one side of the mirror.I love that "Kanta"[thorn] as compared to this shy flower Buaji...😃🤣

Action Plan by La[Pawn]

"Tum mujhe important kaam sikhaohi ASR ke liye"[you'll teach me something important for ASR] seee...something is buring! La's steep ,shallow, and shoal attitude towards Khushi was unbearable for Buaji as she does not want Khushi to stay at night regardless of money. Khushi intercedes for the sake of job.uhhh..."Pappi pait kia kia karwaye.." [A person has to what he has to do for his needs] La just wants Khushi out of RM but fate wants her out ...hmmm..Lets see what is in store for us.😊- yep try as she may, she never had a real chance, but the beauty of her character is she listened to fate when the time came for her to leave

Pause Here: La will be Khushi's friend and that power of her friendship will make her move on to understand true relationship of Khushi and Arnav.I am using Khushi's name first as her selflessness , love, devotion,benevolence,and kindness changed La's views completely towards her and she left Arnav for her even though she saw Arnav's inclination towards Khushi but Khushi never brought herself in between them"eik din tum khud bakhud samajh jao gi ASR samjhe na samjhe" [You will understand one day wether ASR gets it or not].She knew Arnav has blurred vision of his Love because of his ego but when Khushi will realize it She will change him and that's what exactly happened.The moment Khushi got the true "ehsaas" feelings of this Love she never backed down until Arnav hit that realization "Haan Dhoond liya tum ne"[You found me]after his "I love you Khushi"

Action Plan by Naniji[Bishop]

Naniji is adamant over La and her abilities as she knows how far she can take this carriage of rusty "Sanskar"[manners] and no matter how much oil Khushi put in these to move faster and without noise ,these will may be get average walk but remain rusty .At this point I am skeptical about La ,even though she wins our heart but in some sense Naniji is right ,She learned every possible thing but application was not as smooth as it should be.Bishop and her wisdom can reach there where normal brain can't as she can see through the abilities of both these gals.She wants to teach La some lessons on her own.Love Nani's authoritarian and decisive way of handling things around RM .

Pause Here: Naniji will be upset as La is going to cross all the boundaries to transform herself for a true "Bahu" of RM.

Action Plan by King and Queen [Part 1]

Arnav comes to rescue La from the wrath of Naniji.Love this man even if he is not committed to her yet she still a guest in RM. -i agree love the way He never mistreat La, but i think he's too ez on her. I wonder why he never yells at her even a lil bit after calling the cops. he did after finding out that she and Khushi tricked him to come down for the puja but that was Khushi's effect. Eventhough La does stirr him up like Khushi, he's still ASR and she had the cops over at his house.

Naniji and her smooth moves as she wants him to take Khushi home and love the way he says "ji Naniji" [yes Nani] as he had enough of Queen's Nathkhut moves.How can he refuse this golden opportunity.Khushi gulped down her fears as she is familiar with King's moves.The killing glare was brilliance "mein ise ghar chore kar aajaonga" [ I will drop her home]...with ASR tones in action in the BG.

Speedy car ,scary Khushi, glary , flarey and icily ASR what a combo.Hey DM..He deliberately tried hard enough to make Khushi burst at him but all in vain.He jerks the car and both pass a passive look with million questions at each other.She turns her face with anger.He receives the message as she is hurt and so is he but he gulps down the pain with determination as he is adamant to make her speak directly with him.He can't tolerate anyone in the middle of them not even his Di when it comes to Khushi.

He uses her weakness DM's chunari and here she goes.

Khushi,"Aap Dm ki chunari ko iss tarah se nahin khol sakte"[You can't open Dm'chunari like that]He looks at her but her innocence makes him stop bursting at her.

Arnav,"kyuon karoon ga tou kia karogi...Di aur Nani ko bataogi"

"Mere hi ghar mein aakar yeh sharat rakhti ho keh mein tumhare samne na aaoon...How dare you?...tumhari himmat kaise huai mujhe dhoke se Aarti mein bulane ki.."[ what u are going to do,complain about me to Di and Nani..you put condition for not seeing me in my own home...how dare u to bring me in Aarti by lying..]wohuuu...so her not seeing you bother you right Mr Akhroo...😆

Pause here:Khushi will connect the dots later as he does not want to tell anyone or let anyone know if he does something wrong or there is something wrong in between them.Thats why contract marriage or anything in between them remained in between them[my pov] - yep and vise versa, Arnav also never complaigned about Khushi to anyone. just like when she throws hot tea at him and Anjali asks, he takes over before she can say the trueth. its soo sweet in its own way

Khushi's break on her lips makes him press the breaks harshly .😆Don't think you will leave today without answering me..."Jab tuk meri puri baat sun nahin laiti...samajh nahin laiti...aur jawab nahin daiti tub tuk iss ghari se kahin nahin ja sakti'[ until u listen everything I have to say, understand it completely, and answer me ,you can not leave this car] So this was cooking inside you for a very long time as she did not let you explain your side during resignation and in the store room.Since then this LAVA wanted to erupt ...

She wants to erupt from the car but he locks all the sides of this volcano chamber...Khushi, "what do u want to say?"Arnav," why did u bring me in the Aarti by lying..? Khushi ,"because u were rude to Balgopal and I couldn't spare u for that...Arnav ,why, this shouldn't be your problem?

Arnav,"tum hoti kaun ho,....interrupted by Khushi,aap kaun hote ho" '.Howard brain is dumped by his own question..😊

He gets flustered by her answer "aap khabi sar jhooka liya karo"[bow down infront of God sometimes] and then her monologues...make him more angry...Arnav,"Whatever you have to say,just say by looking at me.."

"Jub mein tum se baat kar raha hoon tou meri taraf dekh kar baat kia karo."[look at me when I am talking to you]...Love this Khandani line of Raizadas...[He felt hurt after yelling at her]

Khushi,"aap rakhshus hain rakshus" [you are a satin ] and ...this breaks his heart in million pieces and all the cracks of this shattering moment appear on his face as he can't bear this what she thinks of him.Just like broken pearls shattered her faith and belief in him which in return shattered his as"Zindagi koi video player tou hai nahin ...because he can't change the time or undo his deeds but he wants to rectify but how?He is baffeled about it.

"Khushi,"you don't care about God or humans ...other wise you never disrespect La or live with her like this without marriage..."

He halts the car's breaks screechingly again as he expected this the least from her...

Khushi's words show here her trust level and his image in front of her.She is putting him at highest pedestal unintentionally and can't expect or think of him that low...

Arnav,"I don't believe in marriage,,,,,"...This clearly shows his past bitter link in relations...but Khushi got another side of him today...

Arnav,"tum hoti kaun ho" [who u think u r ?]

Khushi,"eik larki ..."aur agar humari Zindagi mein koi aisa insaan ho jho hum se rishta tou banana chahta hai par uss rishte ko koi naam nahin daina chahta tou humare liye uss se bari beizati ki baat nahi ho gi..."[I am a girl.. if any one in my life wants a relation with me but does not want to give it a name then it will be the most disgraceful thing for me]

These words and his clenching jaws, stealing gazes , turning face, clutching steering wheel show his deep down pain and total defeat here as "He wants her Period!...but he can't have her at his own terms as he got the taste of REAL Khushi here today who is far from his reach YES from ASR no matter what...bitter pill to swallow...

His flaring nostrils at ,"darte hain aap... kyuonkeh aap kamzore hain...khabi apne socha apke Maan Baap ne bhi sha ...."[u r scared as u r weak...don't u think your parents did marry...]

declares his verdict"GET OUT" ...It indicates how deeply he is hurt as his turning face and raising voice is his self defense which makes him what he is right now because of his past experience of his parents...

Pause here:He is saying Get Out as he is saying go out of my life,my heart ,my brain as if I can't have you then just leave me alone.Khushi really did hit the target unintentionally.

Pondering POINT:This conversation is going to play a key role in their forced marriage for Khushi to understand and amend REAL Arnav

Khushi gets scared at "alone at this time of the night"...but ASR throws her out by grabbing her hand and drives backward by splashing muddy water at her.

Pause here:Driving backward as this time he wants his video player to rewind to rectify his mistake and he punches at steering as he has to kill his ego before move forward.

He growls with rage as her safety is his upmost duty.He drives forward for redeeming but his action makes her fall down in that muddy water this time.He offers his tempting hand but the queen is not in this mood as she rejects his offer rudely in his style the same way she did not let him remove sindoor and did not approve his touching her hands on Teej .His closing fist with his defeat expresses his inner turmoil at this point.

Pause here:He did put Khushi in all muddy situations before he redeemed himself until remarriage.Khushi went through hell in this period. - yes but even after the forced marriage, they continued to act like a couple. she saw he still cared about her and one thing that helped her accept all this was his line about "uss chot ka kya, jo tumne mujhe pahochayee hai" so she knew he had a reason for all he was doing. by the time kidnapping came she was completely in love with him.

Arnav,"sit in the car" ...Khushi,"Phele aap apni Badtameezi ki maffi mangiyeh....[First apologize for your demented acts]

Pause here:His way of approaching at her and her stepping back and leaning in the air by turning her face side ways is just like time has frozen at that moment in "Dargha" when she was facing him and expecting him realizing his Badtameezi in Sheeh Mahal and today she wants him to apologize.SOUNDS LIKE"use aapni Ghalati ki saza dila keh rahoongi"[make him realize his mistake] in Dargha

Arnav,"eik tou mein Arnav Singh Raizada ...tum jaisi bewaqoof larki ko bachane keh liyeh wapas aeiya...aur tumhain lag raha hai keh mein tum se maffi mangoo ga...aapni aukat mein raha karo...

[first of all me ASR came to save such a stupid girl like u and u think I will say sorry...Don't forget your position.] SOUNDS LIKE same as in Sheeh Mahal to Dargha...from there to Delhi accident all the way up here.Always...why because these words make him feel strong as this is his self defense "Morse code" against this girl which nearly has shattered all the walls of ASR' Armor Shell.- exactly, it helps him get his ego back when she shatters it

If the king is in his throne ,the queen has her tiara way tight and fit on her head."jub tuk aap maafi nahin mango ge tub tuk hum ghari mein nahin bethain ge...[until you won't say sorry ..I won't sit in your car..]

ASR,"tou theek hai Khari raho yahin sarak keh beech.....{ok then stay right in the middle of the road...He turns and stops one more time as her painful tears stop his heart which jams up his feet but his ego swirls up his head and he drives off by giving one last glare of rage.

Khushi's pain has no end today as her promise towards her family is playing a big role here."Itni Ghamand" [that much ego]She is being humiliated since morning today but she managed to keep her chin up with smile as this is her self defense "Moras code" .Today if she broke his heart by calling her Rakshus,he gave her the taste of her own medicine too by his aukat stunt and attitude.

Pause here:Arnav's attitude for today will play a big role and will pile up for her in future as up to this point she has a faith and developed that trust in him unintentionally that he will be there in the time of distress but after this it takes a whole toll from her to regain that bridge of trust.[my pov]

Pondering point:Regardless they fought today but they spoke their minds clearly what they think of each other and that is a big step to understand each others'views here.

Arnav comes back home like a storm and threw car keys on the bed with ferocity.He stands by poolside window in between her flying Dupatta[curtains] her everlasting essence and gulps down her one WORD "aap Rakshus hain Rakshus"[u r a satin] about him as that's what she thinks of him...closes his one fist and eyes and rewind the events how he proved her that she is right...by throwing her out and making her fall in the muddy water...BUT then her tears want him to rectify as ASR completely melts for those precious and pure PEARLS like nothing else.His expression changes to remorseful and then to soft amendable as he turns and grabs his keys to rescue his Queen.

Pause here:His turn is anti clockwise before he moves forward as he wants to rewind the time ,wants to rewind the video player to rectify.His redemption!

His one fist means Soft Arnav is still alive and thrives within closed walls of ASR shell.

"Khushi"...His search for her makes him worrisome with anger at himself..."where did she go?" as his troublesome breezy presence is touching her face making her "mehsoos" [feel] his protector is here and did not leave her.

Pause here:His possessiveness and worrisome nature towards Khushi will always make him restless ,Nanital trip,running after Ambulance,etc to all the way up outside the Mrs India's studio.Arnav is there where his Khushi is...

suddenly came darkness. all he wanted was to be left alone with his lap top, not attend the janmashtami puja going on downstairs. never one to stop his family from doing what they pleased, he at the same time did request he be left out of the observation of rituals he had come not to believe in.

arnav singh raizada was not a character conceived lightly. in a culture where patriarchy and expressed theism is the way of most, where feudal practices and a tendency toward blind faith often goes unquestioned, here was a protagonist, a hero, who did not subscribe to any of the prevalent norms. he clearly said he did not believe in "tumhara bhagwan." interestingly he never said, as far as i know, that he did not believe in god. today too, he told the jaw dropped khushi, "main uss moorti aur usske ishaaron pe vishwas nahin karta... aur agar iss baat ke liye tumhara baal gopal aasmaan kholke mujhpar bijli girana chahe na... toh main intezaar karoonga."

i don't believe in that idol and its signs... and for this if your bal gopal wants to open the skies and strike me with lightning... i'll be waiting.

amazing that such a man was not only accepted but practically adored by the audiences. i particularly noticed the husky challenge in his voice on the last, i'll be waiting... no fear whatsoever. i am prepared to bear the consequences of my action. in that i heard the cry of the individual to rise above fear.

his heart says he can't believe in an idol and rituals around it, he can't bring himself to observe therefore. hindu practice is a wide and vast thing, it does not require us to follow any particular kind of worship, nor does it make belief in god mandatory. you can be an atheist and a hindu, of course the majority amongst us is theistic by inclination, practicing in several different ways. the validity of different ways of practice, the inclusive urge is one of the tenets of hindu thought. each to her/his own... whatever path takes you there, take it.

my father always called hinduism a way of life. and what i understood finally was that at the core what is of importance is dharma... doing one's duty. as far as practice is concerned, that is.

in this, arnav singh raizada is never wanting. every duty that is his, he does and is willing to do. this is my personal understanding of my faith. i do not wish to offend anyone else's way, that would be an abs no no. just that as i look at and sense asr, i am touched by this differently expressed hindu, and amazed at the actor's ability to create this aspect without giving offence or turning people off.

there's more. he has refused his father, denied his name. utterly. he believes his father was wrong in cheating on his mother, not taking his responsibilty. he is unbearably hurt by his father's actions. that snapped moti dori the first time khushi and he met, scattering pearls, was somewhere the state of his and his sister's life... bikhar gaya... everything was scattered by one man's actions, lives lay rudderless, broken. then comes his uncle's betrayal. finally he did the unthinkable. he lets his father's name go... took his mother's name. not because he wants to punish his father, but because he wants to respect his mother, give her the place she deserves... traditionally a place given to the father. from him is our "identity" derived in patriarchal systems... with one decision he shuts the door on that.

as for feudal tendencies, yes he loves to yell and shout at the servants, but notice the affection they have for him, not seeming to mind his loud voice at all. clearly, mr's bark is worse than his bite. and in his home, though he says, it's MY house, look who really rules. it's nani and di all the way.

in asr, i find a modern man with new strengths, a fearlessness and a willingness to take on life, to make his life his own responsibilty... never leave it to fate. there's something terribly attractive in that for me, personally.

of course, he is flawed, and there's a lot of fine tuning to be done in his way of thinking as he goes along, but the basic structure floors me. as for faith, no one with a conscience as deep as his can be without a certain compelling faith. just that it is felt and expressed by him differently, not in the way we are accustomed to. in his love for his sister, his wiping the tears off a little girl's eyes, his quiet personal visits to the temple on the day of his parent's death anniversary, his sacred garden, his communion with plants, in so many places he prays. do we see?

and i can't help but think, in making him light that lamp in the darkness, there was a veiled message from creators.

the story was rather weakly presented. surely, in his own home, he knew that is where the arti set up is. also, the uncanny silence woulld have tipped him of. but because of the jai prakash to the power of three... i just let it pass. a tight, deep sequence bang in the centre of episode. core idea of 70 for me. three helpers are named after light... light of creation or om, om prakash; light of god, hari prakash (my translation, may not be accurate, but hari is how god/krishna is reffered to), and most pertinent this evening, the victorious one who spreads light, jai prakash. then there is rahim chacha, rahim meaning compassionate (one of the essential traits of the eternal), derived from racham which means mercy/compassion and is related to the womb. how beautiful.

tonight it was the victor who would spread light that got called three times. was he also the one who came and lit the lamp?
