Lovely post, its like u've read my mind and shared my experiences with the show and this forum, u've echoed my sentiments exactly :) Beyond any other thing i have rarely been drawn into a characters psyche, his inner turmoil and his vulnerability as i have with ASR and i have to give ALL the credit to Sobti. His conviction made me believe his portrayal, and didn't allow me to hate ASR even while hating his actions. Not many actors have this gift.

The writing might have been excellent but i have seen Shakespeare performed so poorly that it was as far removed from excellence as u can be. Equally, if Marlon Brando had been given a phone book to read, i would have watched him happily and expected an amazing performance! I know these two examples r extremes but i'm just trying to highlight that for me it was his performance that brought me to the show and kept me there.

I think Sobti's interviews have revealed a lot about him, there's more there than the sbs offscreen masti would have us believe. I think he's a thoughtful, intelligent actor with god given talent and a sincere dedication to his craft. He is not chasing success only, he seems to be interested in creativity and excellence and i think every single fan of Sobti recognises and respects this quality in him. I really think his talent and hard work will always speak for him and i hope he gets all the happiness and success he deserves and will work very hard for :)

I can sense a strong attempt by Barun to not want to associate closely with IPK which is very different from the pre-closure days and this makes me think that maybe he is hurt with the way things have played out, with how he has been made an easy target to drop the blame on; with how after giving the show and the viewer's his best for over a year and giving the team more than enough notice to accommodate his leave; those who did not agree with his decision have painted him as the villain here. Barun; ASR is very special to me as I am sure it is to you. I am sure when the bitterness fades you will acknowledge ASR as one of your most special characters.
