Hello everyone!
This is my first post on the IPK forum; I have been an ardent follower of the show since day 1 and a silent reader of the forum from its golden days. From the days of the Redux, Sushpective, Crooner, Spice girls Hangout and all the other wonderful show discussion threads.
I am a huge ASR fan; I loved how the character was conceptualized, how it was written and how brilliantly it was portrayed. Today after reading Barun's latest interview I want to thank him for the absolutely fantastic job he did in bringing his beautiful character to life. I completely agree when he says he was "brain dead" by September because by then his character was a mere reflection of what he started off as and by November the show, the character and to a large extent even the beauty of the ARHI relationship was slowly but surely being massacred by a disinterested PH.
I applaud Barun for having the guts to move away from such an epic character because he felt he could not contribute anymore to its portrayal and growth. Every IPK fan can vouch for the fact that monotony was setting in but Barun has the strength to say this aloud knowing well that his words will again be misinterpreted by many. His interview clearly shows a respect for his art, for his performance, for his ability to break away from the tried and tested and explore new avenues and this in itself will guarantee that his fan count will grow by leaps and bounds. I love his foresight in talking about the poor state and management of the TV industry
I can sense a strong attempt by Barun to not want to associate closely with IPK which is very different from the pre-closure days and this makes me think that maybe he is hurt with the way things have played out, with how he has been made an easy target to drop the blame on; with how after giving the show and the viewer's his best for over a year and giving the team more than enough notice to accommodate his leave; those who did not agree with his decision have painted him as the villain here. Barun; ASR is very special to me as I am sure it is to you. I am sure when the bitterness fades you will acknowledge ASR as one of your most special characters.
I started my journey with IPK as an ARHI fan; a SARUN fan; I have loved how Sanaya has stood tall through this mess but today I stand as a Barun Sobti fan for life. He truly is a "white knight", one who dares to be different, who has the conviction to follow his heart and dreams, one who has the humility to first acknowledge the writers and then himself for the success of ASR.
I live in the US and have a lot of family and friends here and back home in India who love Barun and wish him well. So Barun; away from all the bashing and name-calling, far away from IF and what has now become of the IPK forum; there are tons of people who love you and wish you happiness and success always and are eagerly awaiting your future ventures.
