The Apology -- Did it Hit the Mark?

Well I think everyone waited for it for a long time! It came today and several celebrated.

But, I have a simple question -- will this lead to "creation of passion" between the two? Will this lead to the kind of feelings that want the person to get close? My Verdict -- NOPE! It fell way short of the mark.

I just want to do a comparative analysis between 2 apologies:

First -- the one in the gazebo after he yells at her at the death anniversary of his parents. What did they show:

1. He cared about her "tears".
2. He understood that he was WRONG.
3. He expressed his thoughts/feelings to a mirror in order to make sure he apologizes right.
4. He waited for her to come home that day -- but she didnt so he started inquiring about her arrival home.
5. He found out that she was going to a party with Lavanya
6. He went to the party location -- got into an argument with her. But calmed himself down to get himself to understand that he was on a mission.
7. He went to the gazebo -- found her there. He had trouble saying the words but did.
8. The way he said them showed the most important thing -- he meant the apology.

What happened here -- the length this apology lasted kind of made us realize that he felt the "guilt". He wanted to apologize desperately since he knew he was wrong. The important part was the fact that he "realized all those mistakes". And the final act of saying "sorry" was just the final manifestation of that whole thinking.

Now let us see what happened this time:

1. He sees bruises from the slap.
2. That makes him think that she is hurt because of him -- we dont know if that was a trigger or if he has been thinking that he was wrong all along!
3. He goes to the backyard and plays back a few scenes in his head and takes off.
4. Goes to Khushi, flirts with her and then says "sorry for anything I did, with or without realizing that I hurt you"!!!

So, what is missing -- he did not really recount what was totally wrong in each of the incidents. So, if he apologizes for something without really knowing what he apologizing for, how can that count for an apology???? How will it have an impact?? When the whole thing lasts say about 10 mins, how will it be an apology for the crap he did?

Now if you look at the number of times people watched that scene and that episode, you will see the impact the first gazebo apology had. What is the impact here??

Why is it important -- well simple psychology -- Passion, anger, hatred, love ... are all very strong emotions. The intensity of these emotions is determined by how much time you spent to "feel" them. The passion required to create a strong sexual relationship originates in several things including lust and these feelings. The passion one feels for another person are rooted in strong emotions.

If they make this really strong emotional scene this feeble and so damn soft, how can they show the passion between this couple?? where will it come from?

The focus seems to be more on these crappy past things rather than on making sure that these guys recover and get close to each other.

If they had let these two recover the passion and then brought the Dadi into the equation for the "remarriage" they would have achieved all goals. This hap-hazard writing is showing why we are not jumping up and down more!

Cheers.

Hey Maverick!

Sorry for the late response! I just got home from work here in NZ! I liked the episode overall, but the apology just lacked that "Heartfelt" quality that was there in the "Gazebo" apology! I cried my eyes out after watching it, and to date, I think THAT scene was one of the most powerful scenes of IPK!
How I miss Lalit Mohan! He did have the "Midas" touch! There are many here who have expressed sentiments that they think the show is ending and they are doing a "Mad rush" to the finale!! Sometimes I wonder about that too!
I just cant put my finger on it! There is something lacking here! I think going off on a tangent after the kidnapping is what has landed us here! I am still waiting for the "Old Magic"!! Those days right after Khushi's resignation, how ASR used to be all guilty and trying to talk to her! That meeting in the mandir when the Sindoor fell on them, and later saving her when she fainted... the store room... I can list SO many! Those scenes were SUPER intense! Total magic! I feel THAT magic is lacking now! The first scene of IPK I actually watched was the "Teej faint" and I was awestruck by the raw emmotions dislayed! I didnt know ANYTHING about the story!
I loved the terrace scene last week! THAT was good! That was like a "full circle moment" coz ASR was going to tell Khushi he loved her that night on the terrace on the eve of PAYASH wedding! Instead, he told her 6 months later on the eve of their supposed "Suhaag Raat"!! They came back to the terrace and completed the scene that SHOULD have happened on that night 6 months ago!!
I have still not lost ALL hope! I hope the intensity increases as the past gets revealed!!

To be honest I would say the party after the scene today was a result of the long wait everyone had to endure to hear a simple sorry from Arnav. The Cv's made us wait so long that the reaction was "sigh! finally some relief from all the waiting ". I agree the scene lacked intensity. As you rightly compared the gazebo scene concentrated on the emotions involved in the apology. These days I for one have been feeling that there is some kind of a race CV's r running, certain important aspects of the story are unnecessarily rushed. The story is moving forward but the evolving relationship between Arshi needs focus...the parallel track about their past is distracting. I wanted to see Arnav's turmoil remembering the hurt he caused her, his indecision about how to express his regret ( knowing how hard it is for him to express his feelings), Khushi's coming to terms with all his actions and his regret now...the hurt she has suffered is not simply "I am sorry Khushi" and "its ok Arnavji" kind of a thing

I feel like they squeezed the apology in this episode so they can go after Khushi tomorrow. I am quite sure they have planned something awful! The CVs dont believe ASR should apologize and it shows!

Actually every single "manhandling" incident had more intensity than this absolutely crucial scene. If you think about it even that scene when he confronts her for some silly stuff like "how dare you walk away from me when I am talking to you" etc etc when he confronts her when everyone is out!

That scene made you stand up and take notice but this one was just "yeah whatever!"

Cheers.

I agree with you - they drag everything except the most important scenes! The most important scenes including romantic scenes etc are done in a hurry!

I absolutely agree...Sadly but I do...It's like makers r in so much hurry to end the show that they hardly care whether the show and the leads portrayal will at all be able to leave a strong impact on viewers during it's final days or not...I know for a fact, since the 1st episode till the kidnapping, the magic was very much there & since the post kidnapping phase took place.. the magic is gone 4 ever...

I agree with you that the apology didn't hit the mark but my feeling is that what's going to be revealed about his and Khushi's past will lead him to a more self-realization that his apology was lacking today. In the past 320 episodes he has done things to her and said things to her that makes today's feel like the tip of the iceberg. The day the contract marriage comes out and the reaction of both families makes him realize what a gem he has is the day we will see the real heartfelt apology. I honestly don't think the CVs should let him get away with a watered down version... If he can go to the middle of the road and cry on the road for his Di then why the hell can't he do that for his one and only love?!

Yep! somehow they seem to have just lost the ability to make people feel for the show.

The fundamental strength of the show was "they made us feel for the people". Honestly Khushi could easily be my family member and it is her story -- that is how I felt -- they were showing a story of someone I cared about because these people were so real.

But now, the intensity, the beauty, the whole thing is becoming "thin".

Cheers.

Yes it did not hit the mark .. i would say 50%..
i was in a bit apprehensive mood after the episode..

Why I could not feel the apology? Or is it that I already guessed this scene ?
Or the direction or what?

this could be something epic.. sigh..

it seems it was all rushed to give an apology..
So here my question was: was this sorry commendable in every aspects? No..actually not at all..

It is a bit sad that CVs and we missed the chance once forever.. This is done.. gone..

So just hoping next episodes they would show arnav standing by her in her any disgraced situation ...
