I have the prior knowledge of diabetes too, since I'm surrounded with soo many!! But thanks for pointing it out. . . . ⭐️
But I have heard that people can get hypoglycemic in the absence of treatment for diabetes. . .

But the type 1 and type 2 thing that you pointed out is very true!! 😃

You get HYPERglycaemic in the absence of medication. You get HYPOglycaemic when you have taken your medication or insulin and have not eaten.

I'm a medical student. It does annoy me when they make up stuff. But its an Indian soap. I just hope a diabetic person watching doesn't think they need to take more medication when they have a hypo.

I am 13 now but i know that if the pancreas does not produce insulin in the right amount you get diabetes and it is hereditary also. i also know that a diabetic person who does not take his/her medicines on time will end up affecting his pancreas and will be the loser. not to bash the CV's but thodi toh common sense use karo yaar!!

okay.. there are a few errors here in this post.. just because he is thin it doesn't imply that he cannot have diabetes mellitus.. though it is more likely he has diabetes insipidus, where adh is less, and hence more frequent passage of urine
secondly, people with diabetes mellitus, the sugar problem one- can live with taking only medicines and i know so many people who do. its not like he HAS to take injections..
and lastly, its a show,a fun show not meant to educate people on the facts of medicine so PLEASE do not try to point out every single minute detail into the makings of arnavs diabetical issues😡

I put up this post on the 22nd of March under "Meetha Meetha Pyaar". FYI, medication for Type 2 Diabetes makes you skinny, just like Barun.

Great, great show, really enjoy watching it - but am shocked at the lack of research done by the writers. I understand that there are teams of creatives writing this show and not one has thought to actually read up on what diabetes (the disease Arnav is supposed to suffer from) actually is.

So hear goes - and maybe a writer (or two) will read this:
Diabetes is a condition in which there is excess sugar in your body because your system is failing to produce the chemicals necessary to digest it. This means Arnav'c medication helps to keep his sugar levels low. This also means that when he forgets to take his medicine his sugar levels would be high not low (as shown in he faints and khushi feeds him jalebi scene). The only time his sugar levels could fall would be if he TAKES his medicine and doesn't eat properly after.

So romantic as all those tracks of he-hasn't-taken-his medicine-and-his-sugar-levels-are-falling are, they are completely inaccurate.

In this age of Google and Wikipedia - SHOCKING!

Seriously he does not have diabetes insipidus. And why are you getting so annoyed. Yes its a show but surely its not that hard to get a few medical facts on an extremely common issue correct.

The term type 1 means the pancreas which produces insulin is damaged due to autoimmunity.. that is our own bodies immune system act against the cells which produce insulin and this will result in no insulin and high sugar.. so these people will need insulin rather than medication..
Hope this helps

Well, thankyou for this. I sincerly appreciate it you taking out time to answer my query. However I would like to state, that as far as I know my firend is not taking any insulin injections, and well is not relally thin, its like shes got a normal weight, nor over weight nor underweight, saying she is thin would be an underestimation.

thanks for this post. I do not have diabetes nor am a doc...but know a few friends to know that if u have it then u carry on you something for quick relief. It was a lil OTT to see him collaspe at home...ghar mein u have some stuff to eat...it would have made sense if they were out in a jungle or remote place. but then its fiction...so guess dismissed it.

I did wonder too but chose to let it slide along with most of my logic/knowledge when I watch this (and most) soaps... Also, during the 1st hypoglycaemic episode many months ago, Khushi gave him something very chewy instead of grabbing a handful of soluble glucose from the sugarbowl but hey...I suppose no one cares about details like this as long as there are ample rabba vey moments and eyelaaaks 😆

I think I remember that after an episode of hypoglycaemia, the body becomes less sensitive to subsequent hypoglycaemic episodes (unless very severe) for a little while ( like the refractory period after an action potential)...But since Arnu's last episode was many moons ago, that doesnt fit any explanation either...
