1. I like the characterization... the quirks that make them more human... and one of us...
a. Khushi and her jalebis
b. Arnav and his gardening...
c. Anjali and her pooja thalis...
d. Payal and her laundry (kidding) 😆

2. The negativity shown in Bua/ Garima/ Mamiji's characters is not all evil (has not been at least until now)... like some of the saas bahu soaps where we have crazy MILs!

3. The interesting treatment to a an otherwise predictable plot

4. The symbolism (or what the forum reads into it) - if they're conceptualizing even half of those, gotta give them a big hand

5. The leads and their chemistry - haven't ever seen any other couple on Indian telly that do such a fab job! They live their characters and make us believe

Most love stories, whether told in novels, movies serials,... indian or western
start with
boy meets girl
end with
boy and girl get together despite circumstances or
both of them die or
one of them dies

What happens in between in silk smitha's words is 'entertainment, entertainment, entertainment'

Love stories by their very nature are cliched.. treatment varies. Doesn't mean people should stop writing love stories, or making movies or serials with love themes.
We watch it becoz we are entertained..for whatever reason
To each his own
.
A huge factor for me is chemistry, eye candy arnav and some comedy thrown in

Good post,
If you look at IPKKND as a story it is not really that different. Love hate sagas, office tracks have been done innumerable times on tv before. The difference here is the different treatment and the wonderful chemistry and acting skills of SARUN.
The upcoming contract marriage and misunderstanding track is has also been done to death before but again im pretty sure the IPKKND team will ensure it will not be run of the mill.
Besides we knew right at the offset that there will be misunderstanding and underlined hate that will bring ARHI together then why not give the story a chance to unfold. I am pretty sure Khushi will bounce back after the initial turmoil settles. The CVs would not spend all this time building her character just to turn her into a cry baby.
I think this track has tremendous potential to bring out the brilliant acting skills of our leads. It may remain dark for the next couple weeks but if that is needed in moving the stoty forward then i am all for it.

Hi Guys...Yeah...I agree the story is not much...but what I liked so far is that they were able to avoid some cliched characterization and melodrama...
A crying and exploited Khushi is a total no no for me...
A social drama is a complete no no as well...
Melodramatic situation like Garimas slap...a complete non-starter...
Looking for something better...This type of tearjerker does not cut it...

Hi Sush.
Melodrama and cliched characterization has always been part of the show as in Mami, Bua . The rona dhona too has been there in the form of Anji . Its only with this track they have managed to drag the leads into this as well which to me will be only temporary ( famous last words ) It will be really sad if they do tihs.
The next thing i am waiting to see what sleeping arrangement do ArHI come up with. I would hate Khushi to take the floor as she should really fight it. What do you say ? 😛
FYI: Updated my post on an earlier page .

this is my one and only hindi serial after 12 years ..i am watching..Before 12 years also i was not watching those serials on regular basis.

This is the only serial which has caught me..the reason behind is
"BARUN SOBTI"...I was back in India in August 2011..i was sitting in the sofa in my aunt's house..aruond 5:30 pm (i dont know exact timing for replay)..i saw RAIN HUG..I SAW BARUN SOBTI STARRING KHUSHI IN THAT SCENE..HIS INTENSITY (EVEN DULL EXPRESSION) MADE ME crazy to watch this serial..i finished all the episodes in a week..
For me the stroy is not unique..but the grey character is very faacinating to me..Barun Sobti is doing excellent justice to this..He has given a very high-definition for each and every emotion..even slight eye move or his sexy touch..I have never seen such sexy touch..the way he does and gives u feel while just watchign it!!
Later, i started liking khushi..Sanaya is beautifull..I started admiring her acting too..
SO FOR ME ITS THEIR CHEMISTRY AND DEEP FEELINGS YET NOT SURFACING TO EACH OTHER..MAKING ME WATCH THIS SERIAL..
thats the reason i am very excited about the upcoming track..when they will be in one room..i want to see eye language ..doing everything..THAT WILL BE VERY HATKE, UNIQUE FOR ME..

Hi Sush,

1) In any love story, Misunderstandings, love triangles are really needed in-order to bring on the trust and intense passion between lovers. Yes now the situation is like Arni misunderstood kushi, sure there will be plots in future where Kushi MU's Arni. That is how they make mistakes to make their love strong.

IPKKND cannot go different without using them. For me what makes it different, how different is the execution.

2) Family Drama: I guess this is not required, but i will see it in two different angles.

a)TRP's: If show has to continue aring, it has to meet its minimum TRP's. Since SP is a family channel, they are forced to induce family drama into the love story.

b) It cannot be a story of two leads always. There has to be situations which should make leads to fall in love for each other.

For me what makes it difference is still introducing drama, is their main focus is on love story which they promised.

3) "It has a hero who reacts more emotionally than rationally at important ocasions..."

Yes it is is really different for me because this is my first show to see a lead more irrational. Also in most of the shows, Female leads are backbone of the show, but in IPKKND it is all about ASR and his transition.

4) It has a heorine...who is expolited at multiple angles...now there is a talk about more abuse too...

To be frank, the plot of this story is like that. It is all about transition of cruel ASR to lover boy Arnav at the cost of pain inflicting on Kushi. So nothing we can do on this. But as you mentioned, For me difference lies if they make Kushi equally strong to ASR, which they have done till now. I really want Kushi to backfire if he tries to through any shit on her face or at-least try to the last minute

And remaining things as you said what ever you like, i like them too...

SUsh,

Kushi's main strength is her family, who are going to abandon her... THis is a very big blow for Kushi. DO you think she can come out of this shock and collect her strength, that is what has stuck in mind?

Because if you see previous episodes, all her strength to fight against ASR came only from her by seeing her family support at her back.

Sush, great questions for the weekend. Shweta, like you this is my only hindi show. In truth, outside of sports I don't watch a whole lot of TV (anyone here following Linsanity? It's sooo much fun!). So here I am sipping my evening coffee and engaging in yet another discussion on this show - I think I've gone insane 😆.

Like many of you, I agree that this is essentially a stereotypical romance but what makes this show work are ArHi and the singular talents Barun and Sanaya bring to the table each day. They engage us, make us feel for their characters, and draw us into the lives of this couple. Can I also say I'm utterly charmed by the romance props ---- the dupatta, the jhumkas, the choodis, the hair clip, the rangoli, the fairy lights, the jalebis, the pattals, even the utterly silly dori on the back of the kurta (that great protector of feminine modesty 😉!) . Not sure if these are standard issue romance contrivances in hindi soaps not having watched any other but Sanaya and Barun use them to create magic 😃 !

I'm also intrigued by the level of craziness that this show enjoys on the forum. There's an overwhelming amount of activity that I don't manage to keep track of . Sush, I choose to look for your daily upates and Diya's weekend roundup not only because they're so well thought thru and so much fun but because the sensibilities of the crowd that hangs out on your threads matches mine for the most part. But I'm constantly amazed on the forum at the craze for spoilers, the begging and pleading for them, the power the spoiler-sharers have ---- it's all utterly fascinating. May be all shows have a following like this and it just happens to be my first taste. All very intriguing and very fun 😊

As for what will happen next - I'm not as anxious. I'm feeling mellow enough to wait and watch. I definitely think what must happen post haste is a haircut for Barun Sobti and his hair gel and glycerin bottles going missing and a nice, elegant wardrobe for the newest and most beautiful Mrs Raizada. I guess I'm also in a shallow mood 😛

----Shiela (feel free to use my name, but if it's too hard to keep track of everyone on Sush's very popular thread, docgirl works just as well 😊)

Hi Shiela 🤗

Hahaha! Me too in love with the flying dupatta...and all the paraphernalia on Khushi's costume 😆

No matter how cheesy and filmy it looks, I have fallen in love with the gust of wind..them staring at each other...tripping and catching, Rabba Vey!!

I think it is all because Sarun make it so believable with their fantastic smoking chemistry and their acting chops that complement each other's efforts.

My whole day is spent on IF...and also a major portion of the evening...I am an IPK addict...
