Back at ya, Shweta 🤗.

I know exactly what you mean. How can I forget the oh so ugly that it's beautiful pom poms on Chamkeeli's outfit and whatever will we do without the wondrous wind machine? 😛 . It's been too long since Khushi fell off a height into Arnav's waiting arms. Angst or not I'll settle for that. Truly to quote the very astute mamiji, "nuts huyi gawa"!!!

To be honest, I'm watching this show to see PH capability to cater the wide auidence. They are too young to this industry and should be given fair chance to grow and i truly wish them from my heart.
I did watch couple of episodes of their earlier show GHSP when aired , initially i liked it but it was too much mush but did not have a proper story for auidence in long run except for romance .Watched their HSLY on V Channel too.
I have watched loads of shows in TV coz i come from down south and Hindi was more of an enterainment lang for me .I loved doordarshan days a lot then slowy came the cable channels with Zee and Sony followed by Star Plus.
I grew watching KSBKBT all thru my school days till my graduation days which run for 8 long yrs in TV(daily soap), EK made a record with it and i'm sure none of the PH can touch that milestone. They celebrated for 10,000+ episodes today we see celebration of 800 episodes and boosting too much on their PH, self marketting.
Through KSBKBT, I was curious to learn hindi and they had a very gripping script for actors who could recite 4 to 5 pgs of dailouges for one character on camera, lot of work was put to those writing and Smriti could simply recite them with conviction .I love scripts, dialogues a lot .I watched best shows on TV be it comedy , horrow or love stories, those days television content as wel the concept was good unlike the present days .
I can still remember school days, tehiqekat, itihass, shanti,Mr.Yogi,Circus, swabhiman , not getting the name of Palavi Joshi's navy based show on Doordarsh.Nyay(external affair was beautifully executed with such maturity), sea hawks on DD Metro,Zee horrror show,Hum Panch,Koshish, piya ka ghar, babul ka ghar,Astitva,KS etc on Zee.Heena,Kutumb (season 1 and season 2),KYHP,Dekh Bhai Dekh, boogie Woogie(more than 10 yrs) etc on Sony.Kora Kagaz,Tu tu mein mein,Saans, later came KSBKBT,KGGK,KZK,KTH,KAA etc on Star Plus.So yes, I have watched enough of twists and turns on what TV industry can actually offer the audience , so i'm no longer intrested in it.
I have seen good acting from Harsha Chaya,Palavi Joshi,Smriti Irani,Ram Kapoor,Simon Singh,Iqbal Khan,Neha Gupta (not sure of name ),Sandhya Mrudul etc.(to name a few )
Later , things started to change on TV for good and few for bad.Good being Star One (non- prime channel ) initially came up with unasual shows which were different from general hindi shows.Hotel Kingsten,Sara Bhai vs Sara Bhai,Guns and roses,Remix etc which was good .But on GEC, slowly TV started to change and they got into regional soaps based on socail issues of other states( normal hindi is fine but regional hindi was too much for me ) .I could not bear those sorts of soaps at all whose content did not serve the purpose of entertainment(like BV,NAIDL,DUB, too much of voilence and too much off Woman against a woman which i dont support, I represent modern India and so many thing needs to be abolished also things are changing but these shows are not showing those instead they are bringing those things again instead of erradicating it). I also gave up watching TV during that period.Coz i did not want my memories of television to get spoilt with these sort of shows which TV started to cater. Current shows which are on air , if i watch 2 or 3 episodes its enough for me to decide whether to continue or to put to a full stop.
Slowly channels started to cater relality shows - KBC,India Idol,DID,Roadies etc
Then started watching English dramas, thriller and comedy though Friends was a long time association to me coz we got international channels in India.
In recent times, I watched LNMDJ on Star One which was good in execution somewhere GH is not soo good when it comes to saas bahu, it chnaged a bit but still it was fine to digest and then watched rishta.com from YRF on Sony which was good.
IPKKND came across with freshness and was quite enterianing for me until last 2 weeks where it went high on drama.I seriously hope they dont show it as other typical tv shows we have.
I want this PH to earn its name and frame though they are very very young and financially weak but I wish them from my bottom of heart to taste every bit success for the hardwork they have put coz they are very creative and talented enough who are all young bunch of people and their work actually speaks and I want them to grow giving tough competion to already wel established PHs of this tele industry. They need to work really hard on gripping scripts, editing and direction too(chemistry and leads alone cannot carry the show for longtime, people can get bored and switch for new leads of any other show day in and day out on TV ). I know in long run IPK will emerge as champions for sure.
I want to cheer for the team of IPKND.

No daily soap can ever be 100% unpredictable, specially with thousands of viewers ( somebody is bound guess right 😉 ) ... I used to watch IPKKND on and off until the day khushi went and handed her resignation letter to ASR and blasted him with some choice truths ... and ASRs reaction...still, calm but affected. That one scene showed me' perhaps this girl is not going to be one of those long suffering teary female lead ... and that guy was not going to react in atypical fashion of plotting to teach her a lesson. Perhaps I built castles in sky hoping every major track would receive this put of the box treatment ... I overlooked the very predictable Shyam-loves-khushi-is-married-to-anjali-incapacitates-babuji track as I figured the masses need masala and you have to have a negative character ... so for the sake of filling 26 minutes daily and to give the main leads a break some degree of filler / predictable story telling is required what is unforgivable is using cliched, already done to death tracks on tracks which are the very crux of the story and much needed to propel the leads onto the next level of their character development ... the revelationof Shyam which was the Ace I had very high expectations on how this would be treated differently in a manner not seen before ... the whole misunderstanding / marriage track wad the biggest letdown , heartbreakingly so ... Dashed were the hopes of a cerebral ASR or a feisty no nonsense khushi unveiling the culprit in a manner true to their respective characters ... gone were the hopes of bring pleasantly surprised and delighted with a track that would leave the audiences gaping ... instead the took one of the most pivotal thing and gave it the typical Hindi serial treatment ... Is ipkknd different ... Not wholly no but atleast previously the balance was favourably tipped towards unpredictable ... Now I watch with a heavy heart and hope once again the drama will tip the scales towards what drew the majority of the viewers inthe first place. Peace out x

Good questions, Sush. I find the story cliched. It is a love-hate story that we have seen innumerable times in Hindi movies and TV soaps. But I watch it because of Sarun's good acting skills, their good looks and onscreen chemistry. And to some extent I was attracted by ASR's sadistic behavior at the beginning (not any more though). Right now it has reached the height of melodrama, with a senseless storyline. where everything is illogical and irrational, where characters are stereoptypes from Bollywood movies and Hindi soaps. I think I will move on to some new soaps soon, because my tolerance level for Hindi soaps is 6-10 months.

I wonder this pretty much every day too

This is the only soap I've ever watched, and I try to figure out why I'm so addicted and obsessed with it despite it being a rather hackneyed story in the end.

I think it has something to do with the characters. Arnav and Khushi (well Sanaya and Barun really) are just beautiful and engaging actors that I can't help but love watching them. Their chemistry and screen presence just cinched my devotion to the show.

And the supporting characters (except Shyam the creepster, but even him ultimately for him to garner so much hate) have really engaged me too. They've grown on me so much and I really do enjoy watching them. Anjali is by far my most favorite supporting character (well I guess she is a main character, but whatever). I have so much affection for her and I think everything about her is lovely.

Even Akash, Payal, Buaji, Hellohai, and all of them are so enjoyable to watch, even if I watch them mainly to make fun of them.

So to answer your question, I think the characters and the actors who play it really do it for me even if the show is cliched sometimes. Besides, it's a love story, and an Indian serial on top of that, so I kind of expected it to be a boy meets girl, boy hates girl, boy loves girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl after 5 years of hate and misunderstanding etc.

Even besides all of this, I think the best part of this show is that in spite of all the TV I watch, (and I watch a LOT) IPKKND still gives me those WHOA W*F I can't believe it nail biting sitting on the edge of my chair moments.

It makes me feel emotions that most dramas don't draw out of me - I'm a generally apathetic person and IPKKND just turns me into a mushy gushy aww romantic and puts me into a

"omg Anjali is so adorable i love her and her stupid pujas and thaals so shyam i'm gonna throw my shoe at you and cut your brakes while locking you into a car with scorpions" mode

aka insanity mode.

After yet another IPKKND related rant, to answer your question MsUniverse, despite it being cliched and ultimately unoriginal, I don't think I'll ever top watching it because of the wonderful characters and the what the and omgi'msuchagirl moments I experience watching this show

I agree and disagree with you. Maybe not disagree, but I still do see this serial as different, although not totally different. I started watching because of Sanaya and then I noticed Barun, who I stopped watching on BHPH cuz I didn't like what they did with his character. Anyway, I saw similarities to Geet even though I didn't know that 4 Lions did IPKKND. So the constant unexpected meetings were totally expected. I didn't know how they would keep throwing them together, but the idea of her always being at RM seemed silly. What I find different is the fact that no matter what Arnav/ASR says he can't stay away from Khushi. For me that is what makes it somewhat different. Although Maan also could not stay away from Geet. So I guess it really isn't different at all.
The Shyam situation is silly simply because he thought he could get away with it. Once his walls started crumbling all around him, he just got bolder by getting engaged. But I get why he was necessary. He is the "thing" between them. The fact that he is even more obsessed is different, because in the serials I've watched he would have repented by now (like Dev in Geet). Anjali is inspid and Shyam's murder attempts, especially the scorpion, were hilarious. I don't know if that is different, but it sure is funny.
I do know that the other shows on SP are more successful than IPKKND and I do think its because everyone else is married. In that way IPKKND WAS different until last Friday. LOL Now Khushi and Arnav can romance (or not 😭) within the safe confines of their SP marriage. So I do understand the marriage, but not the logic of it. Arnav's character was so much smarter than this before, but he is now thinking with impairment. He's in love. He was much more calculating when he refused to believe in love. If they wanted to be truly different and stick with what we've seen of ASR he would have NEVER showed his hand to Shyam. That is the biggest blunder to date. I know the next few weeks will tell a new tale, and I hope Khushi will not become the typical SP bahu. I love all of the other shows on SP, but I don't watch them for the bahus, except the latest one, Sandhya, because she's a smart girl and her husband supports her. I don't understand why the family will mistrust them or mistreat Khushi or Payal. That doesn't add up, since Nani always loved Khushi. I hope the whole family eventually warms up and Khushi gets the respect she deserves...and then leaves. She deserves much better, atleast for a little while. Anyway, we'll see what happens, won't we.

East or West, basic romance story is of - boy meets girl and after lots of heartbreak and suffering live happily ever after. In that way IPPKND is no different. To me however what makes it different is
  • The leads and their fantastic portrayal. They can convey so much just through their eyes!!
  • The CV's have so far managed to have their characters in sync with their situations including different treatment for oft seen sequences - Nanital trip, the hospital sequence and so on
  • It is the only soap I watch, tried DAB and SNS - cringed and changed the channel in 5 min.
  • Given the fact that they are airing 20 min everyday and yet have so many viewers just glued to this forum and the web is amazing, which leads me to believe that different viewers identify with this serial in different ways.
  • For a die hard romantic like me, I love seeing these 2 head strong characters going against each other yet have such deep feelings for one another.

Hi guys...like many of you I have been having this love affair with IPKKND...It is crazy now...What I do distaste is watching some silly emotional drama...with silly plots...unfortunately...Shyamu,s story takes IPKKND exactly in that direction..and I have been trying to digest it...ignore it...but often so...it becomes very difficult at times...a part of the problem is that serials by nature have to be long and do not sort matters in most logical way...they prolong matters...because they have to...It is an adjustment if you are not used to watching soaps...

In any case...I share what many of you have written about why you like IPKKND...Of course Arnies character, the history, the gradual change, the contrast that Khushi makes to that...are the interesting things...I am trying to tolerate Shyamus story...the illogical nature of it...the side characters...To me...none of that is really important...Any time CVs forget that and start giving too much importance to the othe stuff...I start to lose patience...

I would rather see a story about Arnies past...the demons he is facing and how an epic love story breaks that...the family angle, the drama is all a dilution to such...Shyamu,s story is own right STUPID. makes me feel disgusted that I am wasting my time watching such crap...

Any way...let's see where they go... they have spent a lot of time building these characters, now if they take the spirit away from Khushi and hard calculating shrewd businessman away from Arnie to make him an over emotional brother...shame on them...May be I should stick to the vow I took on Friday...let's give them benefit of the doubt...

Been going through this post and the replies ... and I agree with the bold above - that bit has been rankling at me ever since I watched it ... for a cold, calculating intelligent businessman that ASR has been shown to be, that was the biggest blunder. Not just to jump to conclusions, but to act on them so irrationally ... face Shyam and disclose his own hand and his weakness, so quickly ... Thanks for putting that into words for me, reniji ... If they had made that part different, that would have definitely been unique ... as it is, making the hero stupider than the villain reduced it to the level of most other daily soaps.

I want Arnav to stay the intelligent thinking guy he has been shown to be ... not degenerate into the pretty boy wallflower hero of most Indian soaps ... I also want Khushi to stay the same fiesty fiery girl she has been shown to be ... and not turn into a sobbing bahu ... I will give her a few days this time though, because as someone else said on this thread she has lost her family support, which was the biggest thing in her life, especially after losing her own parents. SO this is a big blow for her ...

What I DON'T want to see ... the usual cliched misunderstandings being dragged for too long ... definitely no physical violence ... I would really like to see the R family accept Khushi, but stay angry with Arnav, knowing his nature, knowing that he was falling in love with Khushi, they should be able to draw the right conclusion - that he browbeat her into it, because she looks so unhappy about the whole marriage thing, and he is so truculent and defensive ... the only soaps I do watch on SP are ones where the saas/sasural is supportive - like SGP and Maryada ... the whole wicked saas thing is a huge put off for me ...

As for the rest ... I started watching this soap because of Sanaya ... I continue to watch it for both Sanaya and Barun and their chemistry, and because it is the kind of story which appeals to me - a dark broody hero being redeemed by the love of a simple beautiful girl ... SaRun together form a HUGE part of the reason this show is still unique ... their looks and their acting talent makes some of the silliest scenes believable. Being on SP, some family drama is inevitable ... also if we want the show to run for at least a couple of years, we need parallel tracks, family issues ... and every love story needs a villain ... this is the unalterable truth ...

So yes, IPKKND is still different for me ... although ArHi are married, they have still not acknowledged their love ... every time they come near it, something happens ... and that's the way it's going to be ... till the end. And I think I will keep watching it ... unless the inane OTT comedy comes back ... I find that far worse than this drama, tbh.
