i think you are slightly wrong on the fact that everyone just loves BS, so whatever ASR does is glorified.. most of them have made valid points as to why they think the way they do..

also, i think we are travelling on the wrong angle.. its Garima's fault that she slapped her.. He din't expect her to do that, did he? Its his fault that he married her? there is two sides two a coin..

I like the way you put it. I felt there was something not fitting in the story too. Now I do. My point of view is: I can understand what Arnav is going through but I DO NOT agree in all it's sense, to the way he has reacted. He is now worse than a villain. I wonder how they will show his redemption. It better be good or there's no point of watching the show where the women is troubled forever and suffers all the time! :/

Brilliantly put! Marriage was not the only way out! And lets not only blame Shyam for preying on Khushi and her devotion to her family! ASR in that respect is no different!
ASR knew that Khushi being Khushi would never be able to say no and destroy her sister's chance at happiness! He knows her well enough to know that she wouldn't walk out and defend herself by telling everyone the truth! So in a sense, he has preyed on her fierce sense of loyalty to her family and their happiness!
And frankly, if Shyam was not deterred by his being married or Khushi being uninterested, how is Khushi being married to Arnaav and living under the same roof be a deterrent? If anything, Arnav has actually endangered Khushi by getting her to live under the same roof!
Or maybe 'what he intended. 😍 Now his roving jeejaji will stay at home and his dear darling sister can have the pleasure of having him around all the time while she has her baby at a super speed of 6 months! (ok maybe she's been pregnant for a while but 3 months, huh?)

Seriously! who do they think we are?

Frankly dont really blame them... given that there would be enough and more who would be waiting for the heights of passion 😕 that would be greater than anything else after he has really hurt her (ref Gul Khan's take if indeed it was her)!

I completely agree with you👏
I have noticed a trend in Hindi soaps...the hero tends to turn into a villain in some point of the story making the heroine suffer. Yet, viewers are okay with that because they tend to be in "love" with the male lead. I feel that the writers tend to use our "love" (i.e., physical attraction) of the male lead to portray the suffering of women and we simply turn a blind eye to it. Yet, we forget that though this is merely a story, the message such soaps convey to the general public are everlasting.

Young girls who watch these soaps are easily impressionable...they may come to view love in an unhealthy way that may translate into choosing partners in real life that are a mirror image of male leads that go on to bring personal unhappiness. Again, some may argue that many viewers have "brains" and they know how to separate t.v. from real life. I would argue that to be not true at all...we have only to look at various posts on IF where many people convey the effects of "barun" on their daily life...fun posts to be sure...but it shows that we are easily affected. Additionally, advertising (for instance) is based on the whole premise of subliminal messages...trying to get people to buy your product. So, t.v. is not without its strong influence on us no matter how much we choose to argue against such a suggestion.

To me, Khushi's suffering is nothing more then the subliminal message that a woman should sacrifice her own happiness for others (e.g., in this case, she has sacrificed for Payal), take abuse from her family quietly though she may be right and stay in a helpless/lifeless state at the hands of the men around her.

Not a very good message for woman and men alike in the 21st century don't you think?

Sorry if I ruffled any feathers. If people think, I should keep my opinions to myself or get lost from the forum. So be it. But I had to say this and I did.

Do not even feel sorry! You are 100% correct in your judgement. This serial is becoming very abusive and insensitive towards women. We love Barun, he has portrayed ASR superbly, but ASR's character is not worth glorifying any more. It was an attractive character for the first three months with shades of grey, but there is a limit to the viewers' tolerance. What he did was blackmailing an eighteen-year old unwilling girl into marriage and in my opinoin that is a crime. He got away with all his shameful acts in the past, but for this, HE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY. PERIOD. HE SHOULD PAY THE PRICE FOR IT. Otherwise it sends wrong message to the masses.

Don't feel sorry!!! This was an excellent post! Loved reading it and agree completely. The cv's have to tread very carefully with ASR's character ... they can't take him back to the first three months when he was all bad and cruel ... they have to show that the progression was not temporary ... otherwise there was no point of showing the gradual softening at all.

I liked all the way you have penned down your thoughts except where you compare ASR & Shyam.

What should be noted is that their characters are in 2 dimensions, Shyam not only tried to kill his wife he also tried to kill the father of the girl who he claims to be his true love.

ASR on the other hand broke his relationship with Lavanya and did not pursue Khushi as he thought she was promised to someone else, only after he found out about her engagement had been broken did he start showing any interest in her openly... Shyam on the other hand was on the pursuit of Khushi from their meeting at Lucknow...

So ASR here is nursing true love where as Shyam is after his own infatuation.

I don't find fault in what ASR did but yes he should have given her an opportunity to explain herself

Yet I don't see why Khushi would be upset about her marriage to ASR as she loves him so much, and she's a girl with a lot of faith in her DM so she'll be stronger than what is expected out of her 18 year old self :)

Chill down and watch the drama which is unfold coz this is not hte normal abla nari type show where they show the female protagonist as a ragdoll which continues to suffer... Don't for get that this is KKG we are talking about 😆
