She took a deep breath before adjusting her saree for the umpteenth time, a petite girl in pure white with a hint of nervousness stared back at her. This was what she disliked her apprehension the doubts that crept in her subconscious mind.
'Are you sure you don't want your sisters to accompany you?" Her mother Indrani asked her affectionately putting a necklace around her hair. Her reply did not change, it had been almost a year when that nightmare happened in Chandni's life that incident had scarred her life but she could not let the past dictate her present, she could not lead a cocooned life constantly protected by her mother, sisters and uncle. There were bigger challenges in the present than the darker clouds of the past. This challenge came in the face of her so called future husband Mr. Advay Singh Raizada.
'Jiji we all know your the gorgeous one among us sisters now stop staring at yourself in the mirror'. Meghna teased her.
'Shut up' Chandni replied playfully trying to cover her shoulder a little more with her long thick tresses.
'The one staring at our Jiji tonight will be that London return Advay Singh Raizada' Shikha retorted. Chandni's throat went dry at he mention of his name.
'Haven't you noticed he keeps staring at her as if he will eat her alive' Shikha meant it in an innocent manner. But Chandni was well aware that Advay was anything bit innocent. She utterly detested his arrogance and the way he invited her to the function it was almost like a challenge thrown straight at her face. He had sent a handwritten note with a parcel in the morning requesting her to join a gathering as the stakeholders of his company wanted to meet his future wife. What annoyed her was that he had sent a saree for the function stating that since it was a formal corporate occasion he thought it to be the wise decision if he picked the outfit. The note also mentioned that since he was busy some meeting he would be unable to escort her so Veer would do the honours. She declined both the offers, his high handedness bruised her small town strong woman ego. What did he think of himself does only Corporate slaves like him knew how to dress sensibly. As for Veer being the perfect gentleman he graciously accepted her declining him to be her escort.
With all these thoughts Chandni headed to the Raizada mansion accompanied by her mama,
'Banno just give me a call the moment you feel like coming home. Your sisters have saved all our numbers in the speed dial of your phone mine is at number 1'.
Chandni flashed her smile at this and affectionately led her head on his shoulder, his little princess was his lifeline even the thought of sending her away made his heart hurt a little. But secretly he had always dreamt of marrying her to a prince. The only problem was the would be groom of his princess stood like a sore thorn to him. Advay might be well off but he looked broody and much older than his Chandni and as a Brahmin he was alarmed to know that a Brahmins' son drank alcohol. Of course after the tragic death of their parents both the boys were raised in London faraway from Allahabad. However, with all his wealth that might have attracted his sister Indrani like a magnet this suit boot businessesman from London seemed too brash for his gentle as a petal banno. In no time their car had entered their destination.
