Chandni is speculated to have a strong personality but the reputation that Gul Khan heroines have had, I don't think Chandni will ever be holding her ground against antihero... Assuming from the current scenario, she will love him and accept him despite all the ill-treatment. Her guilt factor ( on realising that she might have been the reason of why his parents got killed) or sympathy factor ( she is the reason he has suffered) may come into play in setting up the love story.
All in all it is extremely disturbing how victim falls for captor and seems to be a classic case of Stockholm syndrome. :(

All i know the story line for the previous season was intense but not hazardous and so damn extreme. I still cannot get' baba ko mar dia maa ko jala dia " out of my head and then a girl being chased, getting caught and being soaked and yet again everybody is sympathizing with male lead only. A guy burns your dupatta and you have to drop it down in front of him just to hear a sexual remark that you look more beautiful without dupatta and then you fall for the same guy ? Then you are a classical case of disgrace yourself. And on the top the audiences here have their hormones elevated by this extreme disrespect.

The whole concept of ipkknd 3 is unappealing...revenge theme seems too crude...the romance is pathetic
This season is a total contrast to the 1st season...our ipknd with Sarun was one of its kind...with a beautiful storyline and execution...there was always a mesmerizing wave of love and romance even while our ASR was in his darkest and angriest frame of him mind ...the choice of characters were good...not to speak of barun n Sanaya...each completed and complemented the other

So I have followed the news tit bits and commercials for this show and was wondering what sort of social message Gul Khan is trying to portray from this story. On one hand there shows a man, the potential hero or the main lead of the story, burning the female lead's clothing in a temple and at the last minute saving her from getting burnt. There shows another situation when a burning effigy is about to fall on the girl all planed by the main lead. She is again saved at the nick of time by the perpetrator himself. Why he does it, in an idiomatic sense, is to take revenge from her and her family for something that happened 16 years ago. On the other hand, it's quite obvious that he is going to fall in love with the girl and then walk in to the sunset after resolving all their misunderstandings'.

Now whatever the motive is behind these heinous acts on the girl, is it morally right to show such acts on a television show and then get away with it by eventually making the leads fall in love? We hear so many horror stories on a day today basis where the women are burnt alive/ thrown acid because the men think that is the way for revenge and the girl deserves what she got.

In such a world, is this the right sort of social message for the young generation to see? Even if he was planning all of this, and never wanted the girl to actually get burnt and was merely a way of gaining her trust, should this girl show/develop (oh horror) any sort of feelings for a man who showed borderline psychotic behavior?

Should the girl fall in love with such a man who has previously tried to kill her/ mutilate her solely for the reason he has a dark past and was operating under a misunderstanding'. Keep aside any back story, should a woman fall in love with such a man who would resort to taking revenge in such a manner? Does any woman deserve to be with a man who thought it was right to execute such deranged plans, that too without even consulting what exactly happened 16 years ago, because I'm pretty sure a child could not have committed whatever the crime he is taking revenge on? And if he is deluded enough to take revenge on a hapless girl for something her family did, lord have mercy on the woman who will have to spend the rest of her life with a man who has a mentality like this.

I feel this is not much different from a rape victim later falls in love with the rapist as shown in some much beloved old TV shows (again, oh horror, I feel for the humanity).

So tell, me in all honesty, your thoughts on the premise of the story.

Bold: I've always wondered the same concerning Indian shows. Figured that's what the audience i.e TRP needs. The Drama. I mean this isn't the first show - take into account the rest of Gul's male leads "Maan, Arnav, Asad" There has always been some sort of abuse and love ensues.

PS mods and mod chasers I'm not comparing. I'm merely responding to a comment/thought.

Thank you, thank you for writing this post! Completely agree with your views. Much to our dismay instead of loathing and walking away from such a man, in yesterday's precap they showed Chandani walking away quietly with him even though he threw the lighter that burnt her dupatta (could have burnt her also had she not removed it in the nick of time) right in front of her eyes.
Advay should honestly be in jail or should be taking counselling because he's definitely not sane.

Neither the premise or the reason to take revenge on chandni makes sense as of now. How old was she at that time when asr's parents were killed?
This mahant ji and puja reminds me of prakash jha movies.

It only proves that producer is hell bent on making a show with the hero whom she missed sending on a redemption track.

I agree with you. Burning girls clothes is not acceptable even for fiction! But Gul's first season was also along the same lines. Arnav dropped Khushi from the first floor, he dumped her from the car in the middle of the night and yet she falls for him. However the lead stood up to him right from the dori tearing scene which is why Season 1 was somewhat moderated from the beginning though it was cringe worthy at times to see the main lead twist the girls hands in name of romance!!!
But burning this clothes of the girl this is OTT even for Gul I have not seen this season and don't plan to. I decided after season 1 that I would never watch Gul's serials. She turns serials with lots of promises and potentials into disasters!!

I haven't seen any episodes of the show cos I found the entire promo rather distasteful. I couldn't agree more with what you have said. It is psychotic to do what Barun's character is doing and to have the woman fall in love with him, or rather remain in love with him after the truth comes out, is self inflicted masochism.

But Gul excels in that, doesn't it? Just because IPKKND was so popular lets not forget that ASR behaved abominably with Khushi both before and after marriage. And I remember Gul's interviews that she is showing this extreme behavior because then his repentance would be great. Bull shit! ASR never really showed any remorse or suffered in repentance save for one stupid scene in the night where he comes to Khushi's house and doesn't even apologize properly and Khushi happily forgives him.

All of Gul's stories have the man misbehaving with the woman, treating her very badly and the woman waiting to fall in the man's arms and forgive and forget. It makes me wonder, how her mind works and whether its her beliefs that get translated onto the screen. And in this show, she has taken the torture to a new level!!

The hero is not content with screaming, shouting, insulting, shoving and pushing , now he gets to burn the woman as well. Well done Gul! You do find new ways of redefining how a woman deserves to be treated and how she should react to that!

And as for the show being fiction, it is surprising how many people get influenced by what is shown in the movies and pattern their behavior on that. Enough road side romeos who have been apprehended have mentioned that if the hero can do that why can't they? An Indian pervert in Australia was let go for following and harassing a woman because his lawyer argued that his mind and judgement was colored by Hindi movies where this was shown all the time! Sick!

So real life does get influenced by reel life, and I agree that the film/ show makers have a social responsibility
