So I have followed the news tit bits and commercials for this show and was wondering what sort of social message Gul Khan is trying to portray from this story. On one hand there shows a man, the potential hero or the main lead of the story, burning the female lead's clothing in a temple and at the last minute saving her from getting burnt. There shows another situation when a burning effigy is about to fall on the girl all planed by the main lead. She is again saved at the nick of time by the perpetrator himself. Why he does it, in an idiomatic sense, is to take revenge from her and her family for something that happened 16 years ago. On the other hand, it's quite obvious that he is going to fall in love with the girl and then walk in to the sunset after resolving all their misunderstandings'.
Now whatever the motive is behind these heinous acts on the girl, is it morally right to show such acts on a television show and then get away with it by eventually making the leads fall in love? We hear so many horror stories on a day today basis where the women are burnt alive/ thrown acid because the men think that is the way for revenge and the girl deserves what she got.
In such a world, is this the right sort of social message for the young generation to see? Even if he was planning all of this, and never wanted the girl to actually get burnt and was merely a way of gaining her trust, should this girl show/develop (oh horror) any sort of feelings for a man who showed borderline psychotic behavior?
Should the girl fall in love with such a man who has previously tried to kill her/ mutilate her solely for the reason he has a dark past and was operating under a misunderstanding'. Keep aside any back story, should a woman fall in love with such a man who would resort to taking revenge in such a manner? Does any woman deserve to be with a man who thought it was right to execute such deranged plans, that too without even consulting what exactly happened 16 years ago, because I'm pretty sure a child could not have committed whatever the crime he is taking revenge on? And if he is deluded enough to take revenge on a hapless girl for something her family did, lord have mercy on the woman who will have to spend the rest of her life with a man who has a mentality like this.
I feel this is not much different from a rape victim later falls in love with the rapist as shown in some much beloved old TV shows (again, oh horror, I feel for the humanity).
So tell, me in all honesty, your thoughts on the premise of the story.
I'm not too sure about Advay having a redemption track because we begged and prayed and hoped for the old ASR to have one, and all we got is " Dekhna hai toh dekho"But yes it really is too early to judge how responsible the creators of the show are taking this story forward. For now we don't really have much to go on and for a change this time even the female lead has a traumatized past, so I wouldn't take it if she is used like a door mat and be blind like the other SP bahus who can't see the difference between evil and good.

Hi Fuzzbucket! OMG it's been so long! I think your name is Farah? Im really bad with names and I apologize if I got it wrong. SO good to meet one of the old basherz back 😆 Hopefully the old crew will join in soon and we can start a basherz thread here too. Haha we were always the few people who criticized the characters heavily and were always called the basherz 😆 Anyway, just watched the first episode and not too sure about it tbh. I feel the old sparkle and magic of the IPK episodes are missing. Maybe it's the change in direction. Im going to give the show a bit more time before judging tho.

You have brought up a very valid concern.I was horrified when I had first seen the Temple trailer. What were they showing!! How is it ok to show someone deliberately setting someone's clothes on fire!!! The reason behind this just doesnt matter!! I remember telling my flatmate "In IPK 3, babua has graduated from a potential murderer to full blown murderer". While this statement was made in jest, it wasnt very far from what I felt.It just makes me really mad that to establish the character, a group of mature adults thought this is the best possible idea.Everybody knows the heroine will be subjected to physical and mental torture and then one day the hero will fall in love. Then the love and hate cycle will keep altering and being repeated till the almost end of the show.My threshold for this madness has been lowered substantially in the recent past, and I really dont know whether Barun Sobti alone could make me sit through this torture this time,
Honestly I was horrified too. Within the span of like 10 minutes I saw a man getting stabbed, a woman getting burned alive, and a girl being molested, chased, tortured and then drowned. I mean seriously? And it aint gonna stop. And how regressive can this story line be? The girl who was tortured and kidnapped is called a fallen woman, because she is 'impure' but not an ounce of pity for her plight. Im honestly shocked that at this day and age, such mentality is still exhibited in prime time tv.
