Hi there...I really appreciate your thoughtful insight. Yes, it's unfortunate that even in this day and age glorification of cruelty and crime in the name and behind the shadow of love or revenge. The mere fact that the male lead's actions are to be justified in the process is appalling. We are going to have a lot of fun discussing my friend.

I understand what your saying . definitely a girl should not fall for such a man no matter what past trauma lead to it. But here Chandni would be naive to all this happening or his intentions. So she will fall for his charming personality that he show to the world
I hope they dealt with the issue responsibly.

But I have a question about their are many revenge shows where a women is taking revenge like EHT or naggin she kills, she plans and take advantage of heroes innocence.
Isn't that should be a sensitive issue. Just bcoz it's man our thoughts take 360 turn.

There are shows like Dexter etc showing a story of serial killer . The think is it's a show and meant to entertain ppl.
.social message will be how chandni brings him on right path and how he learns to love rather than hate . A social message your past should not make u an evil.

Everyone deserves a chance at being better so do advay . As barun said it's a story of goodness what winning over evil. Until you won't know how evil he was than how will see that ppl can change and get on right path.

At last watch the show ,enjoy the journey .

Chandni will be unaware of his true colors when she falls for him
But once she knows the truth she may hate him too
Advay will have a strong redemption track surely
All deserve a second chance in their life
So if he turns over a new leaf who are we to stop

Your way of seeing things are right however its too early to judge any show based on the a few clips. This is fiction and we should see more from that angle. Gul had stated that this is about acid victim however I don't think she has any where mentioned that it would give some social message to the audience.
All that I can hope is to have some strong redemption track which was lagging in season 1.

Welcome back. At least some of the old IPK gang is still there.Coming back to ur post u ve raised many valid points. I know comparison to old seasons r against forum rules. But if u chk the plots of the prev 2 versions also the issue was the same. Hero is angry due to some perceived injustice against him/his family & he takes it out on the heroine.

This plot line has been beaten to death not only in Indian cinemas but even in M&B type stories. Problem is how gullible are the young gals who read/watch this stuff.

For me IPK1 was all bt ASR, his handsomeness, his swag etc. I watched it only for that 1 character. But I am a mature 30+ working mother. So i also know that in real life no gal can really love & live with an ASR. I mean this guy forced a girl to marry him. We are ok with it simply coz he is handsome, rich & "supposedly" in love with the gal. But what if it had been Shyam who had forced her to marry him. Would we accept it & still watch the show.

Shows like IPK ve the same premise. A handsome guy who is a royal prick/jerk but gets away with it purely coz he is hot & he is the "HERO" so ultimately he must be good. Its based on this trust that ultimately he is the hero & there must be some goodness in him that makes viewers continue to watch. For eg if they show Advay actually commit a grave crime like throwing acid on the heroine or even forcing himself on her no one will support it. Thats where the show makers draw the line. Its a fine line but a line which definitely exists.

The hero might tip toe near that line but he never crosses that lakshman rekha. That lakshman rekha is decided by the viewers. For eg in IPK1 they showed ASR making KKG sleep near the pool. This is palatable to indian sensibilities. But they were careful not to show ASR physically assaulting/raping her. This is a strict No to Indian viewers. There was not even a forced hug or kiss. So the producers & writers know what indian viewers will accept & what they will not. They create the plots & characterization of the hero based on that.

Coming to IPK3, though they showed all these scenes in promos no one knows if they are actual scenes in the show. If u ask me very honestly if I will be ok with a guy who knowingly puts my life in risk & pretends to save me to win my trust then may be not. But again its a hypothetical situation. What I would really do if I am actually faced with a similar situation in real life, i really dont know.

So i am still reserving my judgement. I will watch a few episodes & then decide how the show progresses...

You are hiru if I remember correctly:) We used to be part of this group called bashers 😆 good to see you back in here and just in time for the new IPK, I wonder who all is back from our group... I agree Gul is trying to tackle a very sensitive storyline and hopefully she will not mess it up with crazy sub-plots or try to portray it's all fair and anything goes as long as your perpetrator is really good looking 😕 I really hope they stick to the original plan and make Advay truly evil. No shades of grey but something tells me your prediction will be true!

Hi Fuzzbucket! OMG it's been so long! I think your name is Farah? Im really bad with names and I apologize if I got it wrong. SO good to meet one of the old basherz back 😆 Hopefully the old crew will join in soon and we can start a basherz thread here too. Haha we were always the few people who criticized the characters heavily and were always called the basherz 😆 Anyway, just watched the first episode and not too sure about it tbh. I feel the old sparkle and magic of the IPK episodes are missing. Maybe it's the change in direction. Im going to give the show a bit more time before judging tho.

No, not just because it's a man that I think it's wrong. The story is set in such a way that is contemporaneous with a real life situation while Nagin and Dexter etc has a genre and set audience and cannot be compared with a story like IPK. Besides I never said I approve those stories either.

You have to be conscious of the way you present a story and characters. Entertaining for the sake of entertaining is wrong and hopefully at least people will need to know that what's being commited is no way acceptable. I hope Gul will make sure these sensitive issues are handled carefully.

I think she clearly mentioned that there is a social message to the story as opposed ot the old series which she said and I quote ' a Cinderella story'.

I think everyone has a story to tell. Even the evil ones. Its only wrong when we glorify the wrongful act on screen. Say for physical abuse. Showing that on TV is not wrong coz its a reality and depicting that on TV/movie is not wrong. But showing the main hero doing it, and justifying it or glorifying the act is wrong. So even if Advay does hurt the heroine, as long as they dont justify the act, I think I am fine with it.

But yes there is always a question of if we should forgive the hero for such a past... Actually no. But if you take media, its actually a reflection of our own society. And each criminal is a child of some tragedy. Maybe its poverty or as in case of Advay's character, a bloody murder in past. It will not justify his action. But it surly says why he act the way he acts.

From Arya Stark to ASR, seeing your parents murdered in front of a kid will kill some humanity in that kid... and they will have a story to tell...so its creative liberty to do that.
