Showing that on TV is not wrong coz its a reality and depicting that on TV/movie is not wrong. But showing the main hero doing it, and justifying it or glorifying the act is wrong. So even if Advay does hurt the heroine, as long as they dont justify the act, I think I am fine with it.

But yes there is always a question of if we should forgive the hero for such a past... Actually no. But if you take media, its actually a reflection of our own society. And each criminal is a child of some tragedy. Maybe its poverty or as in case of Advay's character, a bloody murder in past. It will not justify his action. But it surly says why he act the way he acts.

From Arya Stark to ASR, seeing your parents murdered in front of a kid will kill some humanity in that kid... and they will have a story to tell...so its creative liberty to do that.

In bold this is exactly what my point is; the potential justification of his actions. As long as they show it as being wrong and not justified because he has a past or he's allowed to commit the crimes because of what he went through in his past is what Im not cool about.

'ving cn almost all GK shows i knw its her habit 2 nt redeem her ML after all da ths dat dey do 2 da FL. nd da FL being da ever 4given 🥱 its hard 2 digest sometimes. nd dis is da reason y i've felt watching ib anyways,GK is da woman who showed da FL falling in luv wid da ML who was recording her gting intimate wid another man thinking it was him(if u've cn QH,u'll knw wt i mean) so ya wt else can we expect 4m her shows🥱
'ving said dat,i liked 2days epi nd da characters of both da leads nd waiting 4 der interaction. 'll watch till it doesnt mess up wid my sanity like all GK shows do after a certain time🤣

I'm sorry but you're like a big fan of the first season right and that showed Arnav hating Khushi for literally nothing at first? He released their intimate video on news channels just to mess with her which is really wrong. He made her sleep by the pool. He manhandled her so hard that her bangles broke. He forced her to marry him. Blackmailed her that Payal's marriage won't happen if she doesn't do this. All this counts as emotional abuse. Now I can also say that forced marriages are very wrong in a country where girls are forced into an alliance against their will, especially in rural areas.

So... why the problem with this show?

I agree with your post. But sadly most of the shows on TV are like this. Cruelty & revenge have become the core concept for them. During my childhood hero & villain were kept miles apart but nowadays things are entirely different. 😆 Now what I feel is its ok if they want to show two different personalities in the same actor but that should be well balanced & justified. I mean they should ensure that the good personality always remains superior to the negative one at least along side with a clear contrast and gradually it should dominate. This would be much better than justifying the wrong actions done by a person for the trauma he/she faced. 😊

I was and still am huge fan of the old show but did you think I was for all of them. We criticized all of what you mentioned heavily. If oyu have time, go back and read my old posts in the past forum 😆 This is the main problem with Gul's shows in general, that they trivalise injustice to such an extent, it almost seems ok to be an absolute prick because he feels like it and/or he has a traumatized past. My stance is you can show a traumatized person with a personality disorder, just dont justify his actions.

Welcome back. At least some of the old IPK gang is still there.Coming back to ur post u ve raised many valid points. I know comparison to old seasons r against forum rules. But if u chk the plots of the prev 2 versions also the issue was the same. Hero is angry due to some perceived injustice against him/his family & he takes it out on the heroine.

This plot line has been beaten to death not only in Indian cinemas but even in M&B type stories. Problem is how gullible are the young gals who read/watch this stuff.

For me IPK1 was all bt ASR, his handsomeness, his swag etc. I watched it only for that 1 character. But I am a mature 30+ working mother. So i also know that in real life no gal can really love & live with an ASR. I mean this guy forced a girl to marry him. We are ok with it simply coz he is handsome, rich & "supposedly" in love with the gal. But what if it had been Shyam who had forced her to marry him. Would we accept it & still watch the show.

Shows like IPK ve the same premise. A handsome guy who is a royal prick/jerk but gets away with it purely coz he is hot & he is the "HERO" so ultimately he must be good. Its based on this trust that ultimately he is the hero & there must be some goodness in him that makes viewers continue to watch. For eg if they show Advay actually commit a grave crime like throwing acid on the heroine or even forcing himself on her no one will support it. Thats where the show makers draw the line. Its a fine line but a line which definitely exists.

The hero might tip toe near that line but he never crosses that lakshman rekha. That lakshman rekha is decided by the viewers. For eg in IPK1 they showed ASR making KKG sleep near the pool. This is palatable to indian sensibilities. But they were careful not to show ASR physically assaulting/raping her. This is a strict No to Indian viewers. There was not even a forced hug or kiss. So the producers & writers know what indian viewers will accept & what they will not. They create the plots & characterization of the hero based on that.

Coming to IPK3, though they showed all these scenes in promos no one knows if they are actual scenes in the show. If u ask me very honestly if I will be ok with a guy who knowingly puts my life in risk & pretends to save me to win my trust then may be not. But again its a hypothetical situation. What I would really do if I am actually faced with a similar situation in real life, i really dont know.

So i am still reserving my judgement. I will watch a few episodes & then decide how the show progresses...

Hi Angels11, so good to see you back in the new forum! I think what you wrote was definitely correct and I agree with how the show makers will not cross that lakshman rekha. Anyway, Im going to reserve judgement on the show until a suitable time when the makers mess up (😆) and lets see how they handle some of the more sensitive nuances of the story.

Thanks for your reply btw, I really enjoyed reading it!

Well I am not quite happy with the advay burning chandni promo but I think I will give it a chance because for some reason I don't know why but I think advay will be better than shivay though it is too early too say anything but the puppy saving scene gave me hope about advay's humanity he will hurt chandni but I think there will be a line which will not be crossed in ib shivaay had crossed a line and many viewers were OK with it but as there was no redemption track viewers could not relate to the character and did not accepted or connect to the show anymore the show has slowly lost viewers and trp and I hope gul has learned the lesson now and she won't do the same mistake now
It would be fine if advay don't love chandni but if he crosses a line out of whatever misjudged perception he has about chandni that won't be acceptable

chandni already has a painful traumatic past so viewers will be more sympathetic towards her and it will be more hard for viewers to forgive or accept advay if hurts chandni the story needs to be handled carefully which is lacking from the first epi chandni character already don't have consistency one minute she is jumping smiling with the 7up and the second she is traumatized it can be overlooked today if we think that she just forget her trauma for a second and trying to move on BT as the story will get more serious these things should be handled carefully

Hi,
You raised some very good points there. But everyone thinks differently. I have read a story from a book where a man was going through jungle and he saw an injured snake lying on ground who was fed by food dropped down by a sparrow he thought the God who feeds a snake won't he feed me. He stopped working and rested in his house. One day another man asked him that why doesn't he work and he told the whole story. They guy said why did you thought to become snake? Why not become the sparrow who feeds others. So it may be the youngster watching drama get the point that it's not good to behave in such a manner.

I believe everyone human have bad and good qualities and when you live with someone sometime good qualities make up for all the bad ones. That said I don't believe any rape victim can love that rapist unless there were some prior feelings or another reason.

As far I have seen, male leads are always smart, brave, manipulative and angry young man( for female orientated stories, male leads butchered otherwise male leads are angry dudes).I believe Lord Rama is the sole exception. eventhough he had every characteristics what other leads posses, he known for his honesty, loyalty, calm and soft-spoken, forgiving nature which others failed to.

still I see more people prefers Krishna than Lord Rama. Mass always prefer hot and smart. I think that's why most leads are like Arnav,Shivaay and Raman, etc. though few leads are exceptional, either they become hot jerk or too dumb.

being righteous isn't enough bring trps or fans.so dark past of leads were made to justify his character. those leads crafted as brutal honest to keep viewers to believe they have something good.

will that justify his character? To be honest, I believe nothing can justify anything.but it'll help us psychologically overcome the issue.it's like whenever our plan failed keep telling ourselves the reasons.that's why most people thinks dark past guys deserves second chance.perhaps I believe that would help us to expect better days.

now coming to the point, how FL loves the ML even after he tortured her like hell. There is a proverb.

"A known devil is better than unknown angel"

or should I say "better the devil you know than the devil you don't". this psychology is the key of success behind every love-hate stories, husband and wife jokes,cat-mouse games etc.

after certain amount of time, we(I mean most) used to addicted to them. we can't manage with or without them.
even though we hate them ,we are keen to keep them close as much as we can.

we might post like this is not justified, this is unrighteousness, this deserves punishment etc but end of the day we used to accept them. that's the reality.

for the best example, let's take our legislators.whatever stupidity he says, whatever scam he does,he will be elected again though eligible candidates are available there.

so I oppose the point that just because of shows and cinema
people are getting spoiled.maximum soaps reflects reality and minimum only inspires/spoils.but I believe making good soaps and movies help us to make better society.again I am saying that will not happen in one or two days.it also need that certain time which we used to.

I'm not too sure about Advay having a redemption track because we begged and prayed and hoped for the old ASR to have one, and all we got is " Dekhna hai toh dekho"

But yes it really is too early to judge how responsible the creators of the show are taking this story forward. For now we don't really have much to go on and for a change this time even the female lead has a traumatized past, so I wouldn't take it if she is used like a door mat and be blind like the other SP bahus who can't see the difference between evil and good.
