Part Eight By your side whether you like it or not

Annika arrived at the venue the next day wearing high heels and body con dress. She let out a deep breath,she didn't realize she had been holding. Today she only took Gauri's help in her make up.

She removed her trench coat and stepped out to oversee the set up. She walked around in her heels hoping not to mess things up by tripping or knocking any food or decorations over.

She overheard one of the waiters that Mr. Samar Malhotra would be arriving soon. She rushed over to check the preparations and noticed some decorations seemed to be falling off at the one end.

Annika slipped off her shoes quickly. She stepped onto a nearby stool. She adjusted the decoration and was about to fall when she was suddenly cradled by strong arms and a pair of blue orbs greeted her when she opened her eyes.

"Aap yahaan?, she exclaimed.

"Tum theek toh ho? Annika tuhme kuch ho jata? Why were you climbing up there?, he asked.

" Woh decoration ka khush chop hogaya tha, bas usse theek kari thi, she stammered.

She sensed the room was about to get crowded. She pleaded with him to let her go.

"Look I didn't hit my head. I am ok, you can go now, she urged as she put her heels back on her already sore feet.

Shivaay glanced at her outfit and down at her heels and shook his head.

She would be the depth of frustration for him.

"Nice dress, but it's not your style Annika, he commented before giving her one more glance before disappearing into the crowd.

She frowned after him.

Why was Shivaay casually walking into the venue with the rest of the guests. She shook her head and went ahead with her tasks.

She completed the bugging of the devices and returned to greet the reminder of guests and then Samar when he arrived. He gave her a nod of approval.

She smiled to herself that she had done her part well.

Later on, he offered her to have her lunch after most of the associates had eaten. She sat down across from him. She gave him a slight smile. She knew Shivaay was somewhere around.

" Kya aap ko memory loss hogaya tha, aap ke accident ke baad?, he asked.

She looked at him stunned.

" Agar tum kuch yaad ne hai, toh main tuhme yaad dal doon?

"Tum aur main pelhe mil chuke hain, he stated.

"Haan kal toh mile the, she replied.

" Nahin kuch din pelhe. Kamini aur Ranveer aaye the, Priyanka Singh Oberoi ka sauda karne ke liye.

Annika stood up from her chair suddenly.

"How dare you! Woh meri nanad aur usse pelhe meri saheli hai, Annika yelled losing all composure.

Samar smirked.

Annika felt shivers running up her spine.

She quickly pressed her panic button hidden in her clutch. Fortuntately, Shivaay could always sense her being in danger.

He quickly arrived as Samar tried to get her to take her seat again.

Shivaay was burning in rage. He could tell Annika was not pleased with the horrid man's hands on her shoulder.

"Sit and listen to the proposition. Since you stopped Priyanka, you are it!

" Tumse ganda admai nahin ho sakta, kamine!

" Tumari sooch vaqke bauth choti hai Mr. Malhotra!, Bhavya declared with some other police officers and two agents from the company Annika had signed a contract with.

" Annika Bhabhi, today is your last day of your mission. You have done your part. Bade Bhaiya aur Khannaji aap ko ghar le jayenge. I will deal with this kamina with this team, Bhavya declared.

Annika stumbled forward only to be caught by her husband. She flashed a slight smile in Bhavya's direction, as Shivaay scooped her up in his arms and took her away. Khannaji guarded them with his life until they reached Oberoi Mansion.

Priyanka and Gauri helped her change, but she was still in shock that she didn't realize when they came and left.

Annika was given an injection by the doctor and she went into a slumber for the next few hours.

Shivaay paced around the room. Bhavya called to let him know all would be well and that Bhaskar would have to help them find Chutki once Annika was ready for the task.

Finally feeling some relief, he sat down beside his wife and caressed her hair. He looked at her lovingly.

"Annika when you get up, we have lots to talk about and do, he said softly.

All he wanted was her to be ok. She had saved his family and him from harm so many times already. Would she ever get tired and want to leave them?

He hoped that day would never come as he was alive. But he understood that he owed her that choice whenever she was ready to make it.

Annika started to have nightmares in her sleep and she started shaking in her sleep. Shivaay was outside by the poolside trying to reach the doctor as he was concerned, when he heard the noise from inside their bedroom.

Shivaay raced over to her quivering figure as he tried to soothe her and wake her up.

"Annika utho!, he said with fear gripping his heart.

Suddenly she opened her eyes widely and looked around as Shivaay caressed her face and hair.

She hugged him with all her might.

It was when she felt his lips on her forehead that she started to back away. She grasped his hand.

Tears adorned her cheeks as she gasped out, "Prinku theek hai na? Usse Samar Jeet Malhotra ne toh,,

" Relax Annika, Prinku is safe because of you!, he assured her.

" Main yahaan kaise? Pinky auntie ne chahti ki hum dono saath mein rahein. Mujhe jana hoga. Vaise humara divorce ho chukha hai, she muttered.

Shivaay stopped her from leaving.

" Mujhe saab pata hai Annika. Ma ne tuhme jhoot bola tha. Unko pata tha ki agar tuhme vishawas hogaya, then you will do anything to keep it from me, he stated.

She placed her hand on his stubbled chin.

"Aap ne khud media ke samne mujhe divorce diya tha. Aap bhool gaye?

He squeezed her hand.

"I never filed that divorce. I wanted to find out why you changed back then. It has been a month since you left this house. You signed a contract for a mission then you had an accident trying to save Prinku. Doctors said to keep you stress free and no more head injuries, he replied.

"Phir kya aap mujhe se rishta rakna chahte hain? This could be your chance to start over Shivaay, she stated.

" Agar tum nahin, phir yeh kaise zindagi hai. I want to start over only with you!, he declared.

Annika could not believe her ears.

"I think you forgot what happened a few days ago. Guess I need to remind you how much I need and love you!

He leaned in and kissed her deeply.

She released a breath after they broke apart and realized her clothes had been changed.

" Do you get the idea now?, her husband asked.

She looked down at her clothes and then at him.

"Shivaay what else happened? Maine yeh kapre nahin pehne the, she asked.

He smiled.

"You were wearing that body con dress. We really need to set some rules if you decide to stay and be my wife, he commented.

She looked at him startled.

"Mere kapre kisne badle?

" Pelhe promise me you won't go out like that again, he retorted as he edged closer to her.

" Theek hai, aap aur aap ki tadi! Ab bataom, kisne ne badle mere kapre?

"Prinku and Gauri helped you change. Now do you need any more evidence that I love you Annika Shivaay Singh Oberoi?

She shook her head.

"Lekin Pinky Auntie ghussa karengi ke main yahaan pe hoon, she stammered.

He cupped her chin.

"Mom abhi iss waqt ghar pe nahin hai. I don't care what anyone thinks or says. Once you decide about our future, I will declare it in the media. No one will have the opportunity to lift a finger against you Annika. Yeh vaada hai mera aur..

"Aur Shivaay Singh Oberoi aapna promise nahin thor the, she finished for him.

He stepped back and held out his arms for her. She ran into them and hugged him with all her might. She ran her fingers through his hair. This time he didn't mind.

He had his Annika back hopefully.

Sometime later the youngsters gathered in the main living room for refreshments made by the Obros. Shivaay had wanted a small get together with his brothers and their significant others to celebrate that Annika would fine now.

" Ab aap ki memory vaapis aagi, ab kya plan hai?, Rudra asked.

"Mujhe chutki ko dhoondna hai, Annika declared.

"Phir hum saab aap ki madad karenge. Vaise we should start at that orphanage , what do you think Shivaay?, Omkara asked.

Shivaay looked lost in thought.

"Sounds like a plan Om. They took money from my Mom to lie about Annika's past. Now it is time to uncover the truth, Shivaay declared.

Annika smiled at her devars and their significant others.

It was decided everyone would investigate from different angles. Annika told everyone what she could recall from her childhood.

Bhavya and Rudra went in one direction, Shivaay went to investigate at the orphanage . Annika and Gauri went to nearby towns. Omkara went to Bareiley and work on the land deal there.

They decided to meet at Gauri's mother's house once they found any information.

Khannaji made sure there was security for Annika and Gauri as they traveled.

Shivaay made sure there were secure accommodations for everyone no matter where they ended up.

Annika and Gauri approached an old temple. Mr. Bajaj had stated he had found her there. The girls were talking when Gauri stopped short as they approached the temple.

"Muhje lagra hai ki hum pelhe yahaan aa chuke hain. Main amma se pooch lo longi, Gauri muttered.

Suddenly, Omkara's number flashed on her phone.

"Gauri tum aur Bhabhi ko Bareily aana hai jaldi, Omkara declared.

"Lekin kyun? Kuch pata chala hai?, she asked.

"Bus aajo tum dono, he said swiftly before hanging up the phone to call the others.

"Kya hua Gauri?

"Omkaraji ka phone aaya tha. Humhe Bareily abhi bulare hain, she replied.

"Theek hai. Kuch khaas hoga. Chalein?

"Theek hai Bhauji, Gauri stated.

I think Omkara found a clue about Anika and Gauri being sisters
