Slowly walking back to his room, Om couldn't help but think of all the moments he'd spent with Gauri. Everything flashed in front of his mind's eye.

The moments in Bareilly, their shaadi, his leaving her there in fury, the way she came back to his life as Chulbul, the friendship he'd built, the trust he felt with Chulbul, his shock and rage when he found out it was actually Gauri all along, his bitter accusations which she'd mutely accepted without a word because she felt she'd wronged him by lying...

When she'd given herself over to Kaali Thakur to save him and his family, the anger, the helplessness he'd felt then, the relief he'd felt rushing through when he'd found her worse for the wear but still alive, her getting gravely hurt in their fight with Kaali, the rush to the hospital during which he wasn't able to even think and then the aftermath of everything with their family.

Through it all, she'd stood by him. Even when he'd abandoned her, she had never left him.

She'd put herself through mortal peril a number of times to save him and his family. She'd never complained, never asked for a thing and never tried to stake a claim on being an Oberoi bahu. The other day, his mom had told him that Gauri had even refused to claim the family's antique heirloom necklace that was given to every bahu, saying she only needed her elders' aashirwad and wanted nothing material from them in return.

Even now, when there were family events or parties, she tried to be inconspicuous because she didn't know if he wanted to let people know that she was his wife.

As all this flashed through his mind, Omkara stopped as if struck. Gauri had never staked a claim on him or the position of being his wife, but once.

The day after her return from the hospital, almost a week after their confrontation with Kaali Thakur and his alligator, Svetlana had tried to blackmail him one last time and staged a hurried wedding with Omkara. Gauri had come out of her room like a tigress, calling herself his wife, Gauri Omkara Singh Oberoi, and that there was no way she would let someone else marry her husband, her Omkara while she lived.

Their family had been respectful, after the confrontation with and eventual defeat of Kaali Thakur, of his request to answer all their questions after Gauri was healthy again. But that day, again, she'd done what she could to save him from a fate worse than death.

Though he'd seen nervousness and fear in her eyes, of his fury and the family reactions and judgments, he'd also seen something in her eyes and heard something in her voice that day that he'd never seen or heard again. There had been pride and possessiveness, the pride of being a wife and the possessiveness of him being hers and hers alone.

He'd not seen that since that day... maybe because he'd not given her cause to let him or anyone else see it. He had been very unfair in his treatment of his wife, wrapped as he had been in the maelstrom of his own chaotic feelings.

Now that he thought about it, Gauri had told him in every way other than with words that she loved him, was in love with him and would love him for the rest of her life.

Hurriedly making a decision at the revelations hitting him one after another, he changed directions and ran up the stairs to the guest room he knew Gauri would be in, because she couldn't sleep when he wasn't around and liked to watch the sun rise early in the morning.
