"Ab ek last question... agar wo ladki Gauri hoti to?"

Omkara, who'd been already emotionally compromised by the previous question, felt this one hit him like a bullet. The pain that blossomed in his chest was as if he'd been hit by an actual bullet. His breath hitched, stopped for long moments and started back up with a gasp. The mere thought of Gauri being back in Kaali Thakur's clutches and having to suffer the tortures and indignities she'd been through previously, physically hurt him.

He turned stunned eyes toward Anika, understanding what she had been trying to and had successfully proved to him.

"Ye hai tumhara jawab. Now you understand ki tumhari feelings uske liye lifetime waali hain. Agar tumhe inti michmichi mach rahi hai just uske danger mein hone ke khayaal par, to tumhe khud hi samajh aa gaya hoga ki tum usse kitna pyaar karte ho. I am sorry mujhe aise karna pada magar tumhe samjhana zaroori tha..."

"No bhabhi... Aapne kuch galat nahin kiya. I needed to know... to understand. Maine kabhi socha nahin tha ki pyaar aise hota hai. Is mein itni intensity hoti hai. Maine life mein itni intensity se sirf nafrat dekha hai... pyaar nahin. To mujhe samajhne mein der lagi. But Thank you... tum dono ne mujhe khud ko samajhne mein help ki."

"Theek hai, theek hai... Shayar Singh Oberoi, ab jaao apni biwi ke paas aur use dikha do ki tum usse kitna pyaar karte ho. Agar us mein bhi humari madad chahiye to bolo... mere paas kuch khidki-tod ideas hain."

Seeing him hesitate, Anika's interest was piqued

"Are ab kya hua? Shubh kaam mein deri nahin karte..."

"Wo... Anika... I just... I don't know if she feels the same way about me. Aur main use... I don't want to make her uncomfortable by telling her my feelings if she can't return them"

"Okay... agar use tumse pyaar nahin hai to? What are you planning to do then?"

This time it was Shivaay who spoke.

Again, Omkara felt a smaller but nevertheless painful sensation blossom in his chest at the thought. Swallowing his pain, he cleared his throat and answered

"If she doesn't love me back, I won't force my feelings on her. I know she respects our marriage and will continue to do so. I'll try to be her best friend and keep loving her whether she loves me back or not. I will try to show her my love in every way I can without making her uncomfortable, for the rest of our lives. And if by chance she wants out of this marriage...then I... I will let her go. Her happiness is the most important thing."

He'd barely finished, his eyes watery and voice wobbling, when he felt Shivaay's arms wrap around him and hold him tight.

"I am so proud of you Om... You're a very good person. I shall always be proud to be your brother."

"Ye bas exclusive OBro moment hai ya main bhi allowed hoon?" Anika pipped up in the background, lightening the moment and resulting in both the brothers extending an arm towards her, enfolding her in a three way hug.

Pulling out from the hug, Anika said

"Om... Main tumhari life aur mushkil nahin banana chahti hoon. Par Gauri ki feelings ke baare mein tumhe khud hi sochna hoga. Main tumhe aaj answer de sakti hoon, is 2 rupees wali feeling se tumhe bacha sakti hoon, magar baad mein jab tumhe sab kuch khud se realize karna padega to tumhe hi mushkil hogi"

"I agree Om... It's something you have to figure out yourself. Aur ye tum dono ke liye bhi acha hai"

Not liking it but understanding what they were saying, Omkara nodded reluctantly and bid goodnight to them before leaving their bedroom.
