Omkara could only gape at the empty doorway where his brother had stood a moment ago.

"Agar Shivaay ko kuch pata hai to woh saaf saaf kyun nahin keh raha? What is the need to go round and round in circles?"

And now he understood how his brothers felt when he replied to most of their emotional problems with shaayari. Wait. Shaayari - that could be the answer.

Shivaay had quoted a sher back to him

"Sach mein dhal jaate hain kisse, Dil se dohrane ke baad

Ishq par hoga yaqeen, Ishq ho jaane ke baad"

Did Shivaay think he had fallen in Ishq? Had he fallen in love? No... love wasn't supposed to feel like that. Love didn't drive you mad... it made people whole. Didn't it? Was he coming at this from the wrong perspective all along? Had he made the wrong initial assumptions?

Omkara had to really sit back and think at that. The sort of reaction he was exhibiting around Gauri was quite similar to what had been going on between Shivaay and Anika before they'd accepted that they loved each other. Even Rudy had reacted quite passive-aggressively when confused about Soumya.

But Om had never thought he would react to love in such a manner. His idea of love was always caring and mellow, perfect and merciful, fragile but strong... basically the moonlight and roses version of things. But what he'd been gripped by was a dragon... scorching and fiery, intense and demanding, roaring in his blood and making him lose his cool. He'd never thought that he would feel this way when he fell in love for the lifetime. In fact he had been so convinced that what he was feeling wasn't love, he'd even started to distance himself from Gauri in order to not hurt her more, not knowing that the act of distancing himself was hurting her a lot more than anything else could.

It was the ultimate cliche to realize one's love after being figuratively slapped in the face by someone into realizing it and while he was a little ashamed that he, Omkara Singh Oberoi an artist who preached love and tolerance to all and sundry, had needed his logical older brother to point him towards what had been staring him in the face... in that moment, Om was more thankful to Shivaay than he had ever been in his life. But Omkara was someone who never jumped in on instinct. He needed to be sure of himself before he could be sure of anything or anybody else. He still had doubts and he couldn't go to Gauri before he'd gotten everything cleared up.

Running out of his room Omkara, for the first time after Shivaay's wedding, barged into his older brother's room without knocking... and promptly shut his eyes tight and turned around as the sight in front of him registered.

Shivaay and Anika had been deep in a romantic moment, their arms around each other, foreheads touching and staring deep into each other's eyes.
