Hearing Dadi and OmRu, and having Mallika say it, comparing him as her ex and how he is with Anika are two different things. Mallika was everything SSO could have wanted, everything his brothers wanted for him. She loved him, and her family was ideal. Better than Anika, for SSO, in every way. But she wasn't..Anika. And that's the rub, naa?
Love the way you put it Navin!! I really loved Mallika too. Many people felt that her cameo role threw the story off track but I felt helped the audience actually realise how Shivaay would be in a relationship even if the girl was smart and complimented him in literally ever way but wasn't in love with her!!
See, like you said, Mallika would have been the perfect society wife for Shivaay , she was sophisticated,educated, understood him well, got along with his brothers and even seemed really comfortable with him and unlike Tia, was smart and sweet. But unlike Anika, never affected Shivaay!! I really liked the way how Mallika pointed out this fact to him multiple times and really gelled with Ani as well!!
And when she left, advices him to not ignore whats between Shivaay and Ani and the first word that comes to his mouth is 'love' and its absurd then for him but I imagined that it planted the first seeds of such a thought in Shivaay's head!! A sort of role that Lavanya played in IPK but she told her bit to Khushi!!
As for Gul bringing her back to the show, I think she seems to be bringing back only new villains!! I mean I am still waiting for Om's girl to show up but we get to see Dil bole Kapoors moments (with that funny 90 degree "Heil Hitler" followed by abrakadabra moves !!)
Do you know, there was even a time when I wished Rana didn't exist so that Mallika and Om could be together! I have actually read MalliKara fanfiction and I liked it!!đđ
