1. About Kaneena son, I agree Pandu's permission was needed for Karna to be accepted & thus he was not a right option for the throne. But, since it was only Kunti who had been with Pandu during last days of his life - Madri died, Pandavas were kids - it was not impossible for her to find an excuse & make Karna the emperor, is what I meant.
2. Shalya was appointed as the charioteer of Karna because of the former's knowledge and experience. But he had tried his maximum to keep Karna's confidence down. One of the most bitter conversations of Karna in MB is with Shalya, just before they enter battlefield. Also he did not try to help Karna to lift sunken wheels.

3. In Rig veda, there are references to Indra stealing chariot wheel of Surya deva during a battle. In case of sons of both these also, same got repeated, with the change of Arjuna killing Karna when his chariot wheels were stuck. In both cases, chariot wheels had their role in making the winner win. History repeats.😆

4. It is possible that the conspiracy against Karna was for not to leak his real identity, thus preventing the throne from going to Dury because Dury was not a god friendly-Brahmin friendly guy, though he was not an atheist, which was not pleasing for Brahmins & similar people.

5. But, repeatedly, in MB, before the war, there are many dialogues of many people confirming Karna's death. For example, when Arjuna goes swarga to meet Indra, after he got paashupata, Yama tells him that 'Karna's death is certain'. This was much before Karna himself came to know his identity. So at that point, no one had not made any offers & no one needed to prevent him from handing over the throne to Dury. There are many other instances in all which the same repeated. Had these predictions been made by Arjuna or any other Pandava, we can understand. But people who had directly nothing to do with the war confirming Karna's death long before it happened is suspicious. Even when Krishna revealed the truth & offered him the throne, he denied it. Still, there was no need to kill him. They could have disfigured him to the level he was unable to continue fighting & then kill Dury.

Bheeshma, whom Karna secretly met before entering battlefield, had said Karna would be killed & advised Karna to leave both sides & free himself from the battle.

Moreover, Karna himself knew his death was certain. He had told the same to Krishna when the latter revealed his identity. So before the truth revelation itself, Karna knew he would be killed in the war which leaves me confused. May be because I m thinking too much.😆

Jamy / Urmila / anyone else
Someone else had previously made a post about hating ArDi (and also Panchali, I think. I think even according to IF's strict rules that is OK. Since that is an opinion.

From what I can see in thread 3, there were 2 posts about 'fans', one from each side😆. So you see, no one is blameless in this. That is what Mnx is talking about I think

Let us move on.

Also the addition of one more person understanding Sanskrit is always a big thing. So far we have Urmila and Jamy.

Any Bengali friend. I posted some links on thread 2 with a Q. Can you answer, pls?

I had read in one of the blogs on hindunet that
Karna, s foster father adhirata was prince of Anga. King of Anga had married a Brahmin woman and since this was a ppratiloma marriage, girl being higher caste(Brahmin) and man lower caste (Kshatriya), he was a suta ( mixed race) prince, hence Karna was sutaputra or son of a suta/mixed race

King of anga of course had Kshatriyas wives and pure blood sons who inherited the kingdom, but were defeated first by pandu during his digvijaya and then later by Jarasanda

No idea if this is true, and if so how come duryodhan gets anga and later gives to Karna.

Yeh 'pure' blood kya hai ?

of course Adiratha was anga prince and friend to Dhrita , I don't know which king amongst them had married a brahmin woman but the Anga kings are biological sons of rishi Dirghatamas , descendant of Brihaspati and Anga and his 4 brothers were born of niyoga of queen Sudeshna , her husband was king Bali , son of Sutapa , a chandravanshi king. Kurus and Anga family belonged to same Chandravansha
Yes Pandu annexes Anga , so did Jaradandh but again don't know how much control Jarasandh had over Anga , Jarasandh also had same ancestor as Anga kings so Karna was related to him.
Dury returning Anga to Karna is not just a coincidence .

Sutas are not a low caste as serials portray , they were royal ambassadors and story tellers , they kept/ maintained history of kingdoms and were also trained in weapons. Keechaka , Sanjay, Karna et all and Suta maharishi the respected figure in puranas is a narrator of all puranas
Chand Bardai , confidante of PRC was a Suta and according to hierarchy of that age Sutas were higher in honor than temple priests so its needless to say what position Sutas held in epic age.

I have read that there were many Anga kings who ruled different parts of the Kingdom who were contemporary to Karna. So initially what Karna got from Dury, could have been the one which Pandu won during his Digvijay. What Jarasandha gave him was another part of Anga (Malini). What ever Pandu won, could not have been taken away by Jarasandha. Not sure about this tho.

its only srimad bhagvatm which says adhirata was in succession to kingdom of anga as he was his ancestor but as per KMG/BORI adhirata is a charioteer in hastinapur and not a king.

2 questions please..

1. how true is the belief that Dridrashtra was a de-facto king? I know his coronation is not stated but neither is the otherwise

2. is there any note that a non-biological son has to be adopted by the father formally for the rights to apply...

Perhaps there was a worry that Karna MAY have had a claim. The powers that be did not want him on the throne. Jamy thinks Kunti was able to get all society to accept the Ps as Demi Gods and the may have worried, she being a mother, would do the same for Karna
Perhaps they wanted to get rid of Karna, so no question of who is the rightful heir came up

^^^ It could be that the Gods, Brahmans etc thot that Yudhi would follow their way of life to the T, where Karna may not, Hence he had to be removed
