My guess is, if he is going to serve Nepal, then that would be his voluntary decision. If an Indian can decide to work for NASA in the US, then why not for Nepal? After all, there are people who believe he won just because of his nepalese fans. 😉

It shouldnt be his voluntary decission though. He decided to represent people of India and people of India supported him for representing them not Nepali tourism.

Why should ..... 😃😃😃 ohh, everybody tries to get benefit, isn't it? Why should SONY take indian idol contestants to concert in nepal? Why should Udit Narayan come to sing in India? All they do is to benefit themselves. So, Nepal want an Indian Idol to be their tourism ambassador for the benefit of Nepal. Isn't that so simple?

Yeah but thats not right. Prashant owes to the people of India. He entered the competition to represent Indians as there Idols.

Is that a part of contract that states Prashant can not accept any other honor while being an Indian idol? Otherwise, why should he step down? He is Bharat ki Shaan, not Nepal ki Shaan, he has not won a nepalese idol contest.😉

You dont make sense my friend.

I think he should gracefully accept that. and why not? after all he is nepali. Living in India doesn't make a nepali an indian, does it?

He is not Nepali. He works for Indian, he lives in Indian and he is a citizen of India and last week u guys said he is Indian when that RJ in delhi made that racist statment.

U are in US right now, if pretend, your great grand parents have been living in US, and you were also born and brought up in US. (maybe u are, not sure) So now at least four generations have been living in US. and you are now American. aur agar u did something which made everyone proud. (won a contest, invented something, got a noble price) and Indian gov would have thought that as your fore fathers were Indian, you are also Indian by origin, so they should award you with something, lets say "Ambassador of Tourism in India"

would you accept it??

Ok first of all I dont think Indian government dose or needs to do any kind of that gymic. No offense to Nepal government. Secondly if that same scenario happens then no I would not accept it because say if that same scenario happens I was not even known in India at all before i became famous. I used the resources of US to become famous, i have been born and brought up in US and I owe it to them. Thats my principles and thats how I have been raised by my parents. Now everybody is raised differently and in different circumstances. Yeah as far as I know maya i think she would do the same, What Prashant dose is totally his decesison but if he accepts it then he is wrong and thats my opinion and nobody can change that. He should show some loyality to India and Indians.

lol this coming from the most intelligent member of the forum 😆 😆 😆

brand ambassador and ambassador are two different things darling. Recognized individuals or celebrities are made brand ambassador or goodwill ambassador of countries or institutions to help promote their relevant objectives, just by the association of their name. This is simply an honorary and a namesake thing. Foreign citizens are not only made brand ambassador, they are given honorary citizenship and conferred with national medals too. This is an international practise,it happens everywhere. Lots of Hollywood stars are made brand ambassadors of many African countries.
Don't be so naive. Accepting a honorary ambassadorship doesn't make Prashant a Nepali citizen, and its not a disrespect to India at all. I know Indians would be overjoyed if some Indian is honoured by America but if he is honoured by a small neighbour like Nepal or Pakistan or Bangladesh, they smell the coffee. Typical South Asian attitude 😛
BTW, Indians don't need any visa to visit Nepal. I don't know why you needed a visa. Do you have an American passport? In that case, you are treated as an American by international law, no matter how Indian you are.

Just for your info, a Nepali in the border can borrow salt and spices from an Indian across the border if she has run out of her stock, and vice versa. So be it, but there are differnces between Nepalis and Indians too, much because of their ignorance. btw, I didn't expect you having a grudge against Prashant. Wish I didn't check the website. good day 😊

Very true. An Indian needing a visa in Nepal? That's the weirdest thing I have heard on earth 😆 😆 😆 Perhaps she was carrying an American passport (that is the only possible explanation). An American does need a visa in Nepal, that's true.

And a Nepali who is a resident / citizen of Nepal (not India), can join the Indian police / army. There is a sizeable population of such people in the Indian army / police force. Some of them are also there in the BSF (If you don't agree, then please go and refresh your knowledge 😆 ).

There are many Nepalese working in India, without any visa / citizenship or work permit and the same is true for a sizeable Indian population in Nepal. Disagreeing on these facts just proves that the the person making the post is totally ignorant about Nepal and has never been to Nepal (why only Nepal? He / she has not been to any place in India which is at a distance of less than 100 kilometers from the Indo - Nepal border 😆 😆 😆 ).

Yep..bottomline is Indo-Nepal relations are centuries old. A lot of people here need to know about ground realities. Plenty of ignorance in this thread.
