Prashant: Should he accept that?

I read an article posted on this forum that Nepal has decided to make Prashant Nepal's tourism ambassador.

Prashant is an Indian and tons of posts here repeatedly confirms that. There is curfew and hartals and burning effigies because of rude comments by an ignorant RJ. Indian Army is called to control the situation.

Now my question is,

Why should an Indian accept to be a foreign land's tourism ambassador?

Is it OK for Prashant to accept it?

Here is the link to the article https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/indian-idol-6/744862/prashant-in-kathmandu

Meanwhile, Nepal Tourism board (NTB) is all set to felicitate him making the brand ambassador of Nepal's tourism. He is also scheduled to meet Nepal's Prime Minster Girija Prasad Koirala.

Well, India-Nepal have a close and special relationship since centuries which culminated in 1950's friendship treaty...Indian and Nepalese citizens can move across borders without any visa or passport. Its akin to US-Canada relationship I think. I don't think there is any harm in an Indian becoming Nepal's tourism ambassador or vice-versa. It also makes sense bec'se Indians constitute largest of the foreign tourists in Nepal and what better person to have than Prashant who is currently making headlines in both countries.

And btw, if Morarji Desai and Dilip Kumar can accept Nishan-e-Pakistan then.....

It is not as if they made him a Nepali citizen. Its just an honour...they feel proud of Prashant's achievements. Its like Sunita William, we are all going gaga over her achievements..she is meeting PM and SPM (Super PM = Sonia Mata😆) tomorrow but at the end of the day she is an American citizen. That shouldn't stop us from feeling proud about her achievement and honouring her.

There was a time when Nepal and India didn't need visa to cross border and also enjoyed friendly ties. Times have changed and now you need a visa to enter Nepal. Ofcourse you can get the visa at the border but still you need one.

Nepal is another country. I am against the idea of Prashant accepting the honor. He is an Indian and becoming brand ambassador of another country is not acceptable. Strictly my opinion and I stand by it. He may accept any other awards and accolades but he shouldn't be used to promote a foreign country's tourism. Where does his loyality lie?

I was also against Dilip Kumar accepting another country's civilian award. At present I wouldn't do any comparisons with anyone. My views are strictly based on this situation. In the present volatile situation when there is so much hue and cry about Prashant being Nepali, rude remarks etc., I don't think it is a good idea.

It is like chith bhi meri patth bhi meri.

Hmmm...in that case you shouldn't be supporting Amanat then. 😉

That is a weak argument😆.

Honoring and supporting is something different than using someone. Nepal govt. honoring Prashant is indeed a noble deed but him accepting to be a promoter of their tourism is not acceptable.

I guess you will not have any problem if SRK is brand ambassador of Pakistan's tourism.😉

Now all the hue and cry on this forum doesn't make sense to me any more. As I said chith bhi meri, patth bhi meri..seems to be correct in this case😉

I rest my case.😛
