Everyone loved her. She was different, unique and creates this concert like aura with her songs. Then that debacle came with people bashing her and I think danish for ruining old songs. The criticism wasn't invalid though, and maybe that's what lead to people nitpicking stuff like how she's singing in same style or the yodelling. Then instead of letting it cool channel/adi started their sob story of haters. Ek to these days social media gave people voice, on other side any valid criticism is being negative or hating. They brought multiple guests saying stuff like ignore hater, people don't like woman being strong (wtf was that javed ji?) Log being bully. This was a top rated show atlst they could try to be fair to all. They tend to overdo their attention to anything they think sticks - smp ka rockstar, arudeep ka "dosti" sayli k parents angle. Ugh

I think the problem was not even that SMP had hate tweets. Everyone had some or other bad tweets. The problem was that mainstream news outlets picked up SMP's tweets and published it as news. That was unsolicited publicity for II and made even a few not following II previously, interested in it. So II team tried to play it out more to get more footage out of it. So of course that made people hate SMP even more. Though it did bring out some active supporters too..

There was a phase in May-June, when there was so much hatred hanging in the social media for SMP! Even Google updated on Mobile had a heading next day after Saturday and Sunday, highlighting how SMP is getting bashed by the "general public". And in their story, they would show some tweets that were downright obnoxious! On further observation, these tweets were found to be of a "dozen" odd fellows, regularly being published even in mainstream media headlines (pop up on Google).

Good thing about this is, SMP fans have consolidated themselves due to this rash targeting, and she is now back to getting good support, as seen in last one and half month's comments on Youtube and Twitter

Good lord. This thread reminds me why there should be no voting for a music show, competition or not. That much of democratization will do 🤦🏻‍♀️ Feels like Bigg Boss now with voting until the umpteenth hour 🙄

No brother, u didn't write ny bs. U wrote as per ur observation and experience. 😊

As per my observation, Aru was never under the radar of channel mgt . at the starting of this show. PD and Sawai were under their watch list. They also had sort of interest about SMP for her different singing style.

Aru focused on her performance and delivered quality singing weeks after week in the starting days. She was somehow liked by Neha at first but not by other judges and II management till Feb 21. She was first noticed by the mgt when Padmini jee came to the show and informed that Latajee praised Aru. Then Shubhash Ghai praised her with an extra emphasis. In between she got good remarks from LP as well. The audiences also started to be glued to her singing. She became fav of the channel gradually starting from Mar 21, she was not their preferred candidate at the beginning.

The II management had to rework on their pre planned script due to Aru's performance as well as enhanced acceptance among the audience. The mgt was happy to change the script. Aru's rise was a pleasant surprise for them which secured their decent TRP.

Aru snatched the spotlight with her performance. She was never in the good book of the management in the beginning.

My personal observation only 😊

Well said 👏👍🏼

I always felt Vishal didn’t like her and sometimes avoided to comment on her performances. She was not into modern music which he prefers.

I’m still convinced where in one of the episodes he said out of blue he received a call from Lataji to which I felt he was holding something back ie Have a feeling Lataji had told him something about arunita.

Then later on I read somewhere that arunita was lataji’s favourite.

To be honest SMP made it easy for her fans to defend her. She proved her talent and how wrong media is time and again. Never resorted to any kind of OTT drama or sob stories. Maintained her dignity through out. Never lost courage to bring in variations because she knew she is doing right thing. Irrespective of where she ends up in II iam really proud of her and happy that I choose to follow a strong girl.

I hope Nihal is not eliminated. Though at this point it really doesn’t matter as they all got the exposure on the show as much as they could.

I can tell you my viewpoint.I liked her the first coupla times I heard her, but it felt repetitive week after week of the same type of singing. (Just like Danish's alaaps, too much yodelling is detrimental to listening health, lol.) That's probably unfair, since most do sing the same types of songs. However, SMP was idolized and feted to a ridiculous extent, which is again unfair, but to the other contestants. However, I think she's a real stage performer, and I appreciate her energy, her confidence, and her ability to smile through some cruel comments made about her. I didn't mind most of her innovations either.

Is she the best singer? Not near, IMO, but she has the verve and enough grounding to develop into a great stage performer. Playback singing-wise, she's limited, and I think she will still improve, if she doesn't wreck her voice. She's still very young, and getting this far is no mean feat.
