How are we to enjoy the story as a whole then? I have tried to watch stories in the past because of leads only, instead of the story as a whole, and eventually just gave up because even though I enjoyed the leads, I could never enjoy the story. In fact there was no story if the leads were not on screen for the whole 20-22 minutes and that is not practical in a daily soap. The serials start with a proper story with sub-plots but mid-way it just becomes about the leads and the story goes for a toss. But here we have subplots in the story that are connected to the leads, so the story is still interesting. We still talk about PD family, T family, C family.

Malini became an empty shell of the character because of a combination of her childhood and her delusions about her relationship with Aditya. But she is not an outright black character yet either. That is why her journey has the potential to be interesting if the writers show it that way. And even if Malini is out of Aditya-Imlie's life, she can never be out of Imlie's life as they are half-sisters. So if the character is here to stay, why not give her a character arc that has the potential to interest the audience.

It is not about what Malini likes, it is more about her personality. She has suppressed it since forever. If her real personality starts to come out as Aditya separates himself from her, and it turns out to be a total evil personality, then so be it. If her real personality is dark grey, then so be it. Right now where the story is, it can go either way. She also does not know who she really is. There is zero self-awareness in her. She is never going to be the saint she pretends to be. But she is also not a criminal. Right now I hate seeing Malini on screen too, but that can change if writers work on her character. For one, I do not want to see her being super sweet in one episode and evil incarnate the next and then again super sweet. It get's confusing for me as the audience about who she is really because she is neither super sweet nor evil incarnate. But she gets a lot of screen space. I want to see some sort of consistency in her character, whatever shade that is. And I cannot enjoy Aditya-Imlie scenes only for long if I cannot tolerate her on screen. Last 10 episodes are proof enough. If she is to stay till the end, and as audience if I want to enjoy the story as a whole along with Adi-Imlie relationship, then writers need to work on her character more.

I think we know how stories function and how characters functions.. nobody is saying we are watching for only the leads or their hyper romance contrary to what most people in guise of we watch the story for say

There is a thing called relevance to the topic and discussion and if that is not there onv someone will poi t that out.. if you ha e such burning questions about malini and her likes and have to make assumptions than maybe find another place for that caz in this thread it is totally irrelevant to the discussion that is happening and we simply run and base our analysis on the content of the episodes and what we have seen rather than presumptions based on whether someone like rain or no.. which has no darn meaning in the overall story.. like thay difference does that make to anything to adi and imlie's equation and how that Fits in the current situation is beyond me

Thanks

When did I say that you'll are watching for hyper romance or anything about your ITV watching history? I was just giving my opinion about what I would like to see in the future about Malini's character. And that I would prefer to see the whole story rather than leads only. I was talking about my experience of watching ITV shows, that's all.

Trust me, I have no burning questions about Malini. I am active on this thread of @AreYaar and just thought to post my thoughts in a rational manner.

Thanks

I just wished you had some idea about the posts I have made in this thread for a couple of weeks before you wrote all this. I am not those kinds of people who write episode analysis based on reading written updates only or just see promos and come here to make posts or those people who specifically make posts on Thursday to bash Adi-Imlie and show their devotion to Malini's character. 😆

And trust me, my point was not about whether Malini like's rain or not. It was just a reference point as rain is important in this show. I was talking more about her personality which has been discussed in detail in this thread. And if this is an episode discussion thread, and Malini or Tripati or Mrs C or whoever is in the episode are discussed in this thread, how am I doing an irrelevant discussion here? In my post, did I sound like Malini worshipper? I seriously hope not. 😊

I guess your question regarding “rain” came out of the blue regarding Malini, hence the relevance was not understood to the current episode discussion.

To answer your question, Malini changed her likes and dislikes to suit Aditya’s. So she might have liked rain but because Aditya did not like it, she stopped liking it. Same thing with Holi. She used to like holi but because Aditya did not like playing it, she stopped playing it too. She did that because she wanted a perfect relationship totally unlike her parents. In her mind and her own definition, people need to be similar in thought, likes and dislikes for a marriage to work. Hence she totally changed herself so her thoughts, likes and dislikes matched Aditya to the T, so much so that they picked up the same clothes and shoes. Unfortunately her understanding of what a perfect marriage is totally opposite of what it should be and what Aditya is which I guess they never discussed in their 7 year relationship. It also shows her tendency for manipulations and delusions to achieve her objective which is a perfect marriage that has no fights, argument or disagreements and a husband who caters to her need for moon jaap.

Hence she is character who has no independent thought process, who only repeat things and projects them as their own ideas when someone points it out .. for example she only defended Imlie when Aditya took the initiative both at her house and Imlie’s birthday.

As AY mentioned yesterday, that nowhere till date there was a single hint that Malini was suicidal. Aditya had spoken about death many times so if he took the step, none of us would surprised but Malini’s came out of the blue.We all thought she would fall sick or faint but suicide is what we got. This is how consistent they are with her so ... IMO as the writers keep flipping her on us it’s better to take her personality episode by episode rather that coming to conclusion.

Trust me I do not care at all if Malini likes rain or not. Lol, I should not have started my post with that. 😆I only wanted to see some consistency in Malini's character in the future and to see her real personality, whether black, grey or white, or whatever she is after she is out of this relationship. Right now it is not possible, which I understand. The way she switches every other episode gives the audience whiplash sometimes. Otherwise, I agree with all you have said above. 😊
