Part 10 Tit for Tat

"Rise and shine! GK chirped with a devilish smile and flung a bucket full of water on the woman snoring away on the bed.

Startled out of her wits, Saru jumped up suddenly and started shouting, "What happened? Who is it?!

GK smirked as a drenched Saru looked at her, shocked. "What did you do?! Saru shouted inspecting her wet hairs.

"Hmm...I was just trying to wake you up.. GK replied with a thoughtful look.

"This is not how you wake up people! Saru retorted annoyed.

"Oh really! GK repeated taking a step closer as Saru stepped back, " but I've been told this was the exact manner in which I was woken up on my first day in this mansion!

Saru gulped troubled by the dangerous glint in her saasu maa's eyes. "So what was it that you wanted, Saasu maa?! Saru asked extra sweetly trying to divert her attention.

"Nothing much dear bahu of mine, I just wanted to have smoothie GK replied dripping with honey.

"Ofcourse! I'll make it right away! And with that Saru rushed out of her room.

"Who the hell drinks a smoothie like 4 am in the morning?! Saru groaned as she started cutting the bananas.

5 minutes later as Saru served GK her smoothie, GK nodded absentmindedly while fiddling with her phone. But the instant the first drop of smoothie went down her throat, her mouth stilled and staring up to Saru, she coughed and shouted, "What load of s**t have you served me?

"But I only made you banana smoothie, the one you like... Saru trailed troubled as GK shot up from her chair.

"Banana?! You put banana in my smoothie! And when the hell did I start liking banana?! I am allergic to banana, my mouth develops blisters! And with that, GK rushed to her room while Saru looked on bewildered.

"Blisters?! But she used to drink it so happily! Saru recalled.

Unknown to Saru, Guddan had never informed anyone regarding her allergy since banana was a very common fruit and she didn't want to trouble anyone. Also banana being AJ's favourite, he used to incorporate it in his dishes frequently and she never wanted to miss a taste at the food her husband used to make, no matter what the cost was!

"You've got quite a collection here, Saru bahu! GK exclaimed impressed.

Saru's eyes widened horrified as she let go of the door latch and turned around to find GK admiring the diamond bracelet in her hands while the roof of her bed was laid open.

As GK made eye contact, Saru started to clasp and unclasp her fingers worried.

"Or are you planning to rendezvous into jewellery business? GK asked slapping the door of bed shut.

"Vo..main...

"Though I wonder how exactly will Lakshmi bahu's earrings be of any use to you?! GK asked slyly as she started leaving.

"What do you want?! Saru asked gritting her teeth as GK stopped in her tracks and smirked. "Good call! GK patted Saru's shoulders impressed as the right corner of her lips twitched up. " You've got what it takes to be what you are...a conman!

"Come to the point... Saru asked her head hurting from the mere thinking of getting exposed.

"I won't beat around the bush anymore, I want you to be my loyal servant till the day this bet of mine with your AJ expires. You do what I ask of you, and I'll leave this house with your dirty secret! GK chuckled.

Saru nodded knowing well that it wasn't possible to hide that massive pile of jewellery. And if she refused, this woman would not think twice before exposing her. This wasn't dumb Guddan after all.

"But h-how did you... Saru asked as GK got the gist of her question.

"If you weren't so shabby with Lakshmi's bahu's earring that I saw you sneaking away while she had removed it to try on that cheap chor bazaar ke tops you bought her... GK shrugged.

"I agree to your conditions but I won't do anything troublesome! Saru clarified realizing that GK was cunning.

As GK raised her brows in amusement and then sat down on the bed while crossing her legs like a boss. "That's not your call to make! It's either my way or OUT of the way! Vese bhi I am quite particular when it comes to vengeance and you need to repent for these blisters that are hurting my mouth!

"I didn't do it intentionally Saru spoke in her defense.

"Doesn't matter! GK shrugged carelessly as she got up and started to leave when she paused at the door-frame.

"One more thing, tardiness is punishable by worse-than-death' in my book. So get your act together

And with that GK was gone.

"Alright Rewa, let's hear about the developments on work front in my absence. And for starters I'd like to know about that Contract MXC47017 GK asked as she pried open the file in her hands while Rewa nodded.

"The consignment was delivered on time dated 6-9 and as promised in the contract, we were actually referred to Flyers and they agreed to take a look at the print we had designed...

"And...

" unfortunately it was turned down based on certain safety concerns.

"Safety concerns?! GK repeated furrowing her brows, "I don't believe in doing half assed work and I'm quite sure regarding the integrity of team I had assembled. As a matter of fact, I was the one who gave it an ok', so how exactly did the technical aspect went astray?! It's strange!

As she turned the file, her eyes widened as she pulled the page out and inspected it carefully. "What is this? What the hell is this?! This is not that blueprint!! GK shouted angered as she threw the print on Rewa's face.

"My most ambitious project was stuck halfway because you lowlifes misplaced my blueprint!! I am gonna sue that good for nothing creative who messed this up! GK picked up her phone.

"Vikas died last year from cardiac arrest Rewa informed her as the anger went poof and disbelief dawned.

"He died?! Of cardiac arrest!? That bulldozer bulging with muscles and protein shake died of cardiac arrest! Impossible! GK murmured clutching her head and started to tap her heels in a staccato.

Something was off. Her print was misplaced and the man responsible for it had died, that too of cardiac arrest, that freak who was so concerned with his health that he would undergo full body checks every fortnight, died of cardiac arrest. And it all happened when her brain was on a holiday! This doesn't fit. At all! She needed to get back ASAP!

Akshat entered his room expecting to see Guddan but found her missing.

"Where is she?! He whispered tired as he kept his bag on the table below LED screen and started loosening his tie while standing in front of the mirror.

There was a time when she used to do it, despite his protests!

Flashback:

"Aap aa gaye! Guddan greeted as AJ entered room tired from his back to back meetings.

He gave a deadpan look in her direction and replied in a monotone, "Nhi! Raste mein hu! Bas pahunchne wala hu

"Is that so? Looks like Jindal saab ne aaj fish ke saath apna brain bhi galti se fry kar diya tabhi itni behki behki baatein kar rahe hain! Guddan gave him a mirthless smile in response and snatched the bag away.

As he unbuckled his watch, he looked at her taking out his change from the wardrobe, "Tumhari sangat ka asar hai! Madness is quite infectious!

Guddan turned around surprised and keeping his clothes on the bed, rushed to him, "Finally!! She shrieked.

"What?! He asked.

"Finally, aapne maan hi liya ki aap pagal hain!

Rolling his eyes at her pathetic humor sense, he moved in front of the mirror to undo his tie when she beat him to it and stepping in front of him, flicked his collar up.

"I can do it! He resisted catching her hands but she wouldn't budge, "But I like to do it. She smiled as he sighed in defeat and let her take the charge.

"I don't see tumhe ye sab karne mein kya mazaa aata hai He asked as she started taking the loop of tie over his head.

Since he was tall, she supported her weight on her toes and losing her balance, fell into him as his arms encircled around her and balanced themselves. "Aap mujhse kya pooch rahe hain, apne aap se poochiye, She raised her brows as he furrowed them, puzzled.

"Jab kissi se pyaar hota hai na, toh unki life se judi choti se choti cheez ka dhyaan rakhne mein dil ko bahot sukoon milta hai She spoke sincerely as he found himself losing in her lovelorn eyes.

Endless pools of love waiting to swallow him. Made him want to take the leap of faith and drown in them.

She was always so vocal about her feelings, so blunt about her love for him. As this thought crossed his mind, he got uncomfortable and withdrew his hands away.

Guddan smiled and stepped back. Another incident added to many incidents that portrayed the love he had for her. He wasn't sure and thus didn't want to hurt her. But she was sure that he loved her.

"Tension mat lijiye vo din door nhi hai jab aap mere pyaar mein vo saari cheezein karenge jo aapne kabhi sochi bhi nhi hongi! Guddan challenged as she moved away.

Akshat smiled sadly, Insaan ki kadra uske jaane ke baad hi kyun aati hai? Insaan thokar kha kar hi kyun sambhalta hai?

His self-preaching mode was on when he heard a splash sound from towards the pool and rushed outside
