It's the time to disco!

Naach gaana and all that jazz, that was the scene on the sets of Grihasti the other day

Rehearsals are on since early morning for a party sequence at Veera's house, where, she will be spinning her next web of deceit. Here, Anand Suryavanshi, Aarti Singh and others are rehearsing on Mauja Hi Mauja.

Dolly Minhas, who plays the evil Veera, reads through her script mock-lamenting, "Arre, I don't get to dance, I'm supposed to be busy plotting my next move to make life hell for Simar!"

Providing a sharp contradiction to Dolly's character is the docile maa Amrit, played by Vaidehi Amrute, whose motherly instincts spill beyond the frame. She's always ready with a chip of advice or a word of care.

The dapper actor Shahbaaz Khan is the latest entrant in this show and it's just the third day of his shoot today. Shahbaaz sounds excited: "I'm playing Jaidev Khurana, an orthodox tau. Though it's a role of an elderly person there are no grey strands!"

Hmmmm… now what do we make of this 'friendliness'? "Oh my God, nothing! We are just friends!" says Akshat. Now, why does this sound familiar? Akshat and Hoonar might really be just good friends but the chemistry between the two is sizzling as they go about the dance, giggling and also rebuking each other.

It's time for the main sequence post the dance, to begin and the team once again gets down to discussing their scenes – that is some kind of a norm with this team. "It helps to perform better when we know how the other actors are going to do their stuff," says Sunila Karambalekar who plays Nacchu, the thodi-khatti-thodimeethi bua. COMPILED BY RESHMA S KULKARNI

Star Plus TV Serial Grahasti

Published by Jaish at 4:54 am under Hindi Television News, Small Screen News, Star Plus

STAR Plus' popular afternoon show, Grahasti, is set for a befitting relaunch as the homely women (the female protagonists) of the show take complete charge of their lives and transcend new boundaries beyond their duties at home.

In a surprising turn of events, the six women of the Khurana household Amrit (Vaidehi Amrute), Rano (Aarti Singh), Simar (Khushbu Singh), Sohni (Hunar Ali), Nacchattar Bua (Sunila Khambelkar) and Teji Nani (Sulekshana Khatri) take over the reins of the family business and the day-to-day affairs of the house in their control!

The women give it all that it takes to fulfill the challenges thrown by their "Tauji" (Shahbaaz Khan) and emerge victorious! Breaking away from the traditional norms, the women attempt to create a place for themselves in a male dominated society. This refreshed story will unravel as the strength of each of these characters is highlighted during various phases.

What will happen when the women of the Khurana family join hands in an attempt to find their true identity in a male-dominated society?

Stay tuned to watch a new beginning of 'GRAHASTI', Mon-Friday, 2.30pm, only on STAR PLUS

Strike Called Off

After 10 days the producers' strike has finally been called off. And all telly fans can heave a sigh of relief as the production houses will resume filming tonight itself so that fresh episodes can be aired from Monday onwards. We spoke to the vice president of the producer's association, Dheeraj Kumar who heads Creative Eye a production house.

"For us the first good news is that the strike has been called off with appropriate decision. There were two worker unions involved in this issue. And now everyone have agreed over two things - job security meaning they will get insurance facilities as well as the fact that they will be under a one month contract which was not the case initially. Earlier they used to loose their jobs in 4-5 days without any notice or anything. However this will not happen after they will sign the contract," informs Dheeraj.
"Second thing is the hike issue. Now we have spoken to them about the current economical situation and they have agreed on a small rise in the percentage of hikes which will be 10 to 15 %," adds Kumar.
"The next issue was that the producers wanted a hike in their contract price from channels as well. So now an agreement has been brought about where they will first reduce their production cost … like if one episode was taking 3 days to shoot now the production house will try to finish that episode in one and half day so that is how they themselves will not face any burden and they will not ask for more money to broadcasters also."

The shooting for all the shows will start from tomorrow (Thursday November 20 2008) and the channels will air new episodes from Monday (November 24 2008).
