Vijaydashmi - Victory of Good over Evil
India is the land of cultures and festivals. As the month of October sets,we begin it with the celebration of good over evil - Dussehra. Read how the stars plan to celebrate this festive day...
Happy Dussehra
Dussehra or Vijayadashami - the festival is celebrated throughout the country and the underlying tradition and mode of celebration vary vastly by region. However, all festivities celebrate the victory of the forces of Good over Evil. While in the East, people have the traditional Durga Puja, up north people commemorate the victory of Lord Rama over the demon Ravana. The day is considered as an auspicious day to begin new ventures in life.

In memory of Lord Rama's victory, people burn Ravana effigies, where in huge melas or fetes are organized. The Ramlila - an abridged dramatization of the Ramayana - is enacted with much public fervor.
On this day of Victory of Truth ,we asked some of the television actors about their plans for this Dussehra...

If given a chance, which character you would want to portray on screen from Ramayan and why: I would love to play Sita. The main reason is that she is wife of Lord Ram and secondly Hanumanji is her big devotee.
Your plans for Dussehra this year: I will be shooting all day, so no great plans this year. But, maybe after the shoot I'll visit the mandir with my brother and then we will go out for dinner.

If given a chance, which character you would want to portray on screen from Ramayan and why: I would love to play Hanuman because he has lots to do.
Your plans for Dussehra this year: I don't know whether I'm shooting tomorrow or not. If not, then there will be a puja at my place and after that will go and play dandiya in my colony.

If given a chance, which character you would want to portray on screen from Ramayan and why: I would love to play the character of Sita as she is a dedicated wife and very pretty.
Your plans for Dussehra this year: I have just returned from Kolkata and am planning to have a small get together at my place.

If given a chance, which character you would want to portray on screen from Ramayan and why: I would love to play Ramji, but I will never take my wife to the jungle for 14 years and will never keep her away from me.
Your plans for Dussehra this year: I will bring an effigy of Ravana and burn it on the sets... (laughs). Playing the lead in the show leaves me with very little time for myself. So I will have a working Dussehra this year.

If given a chance, which character you would want to portray on screen from Ramayan and why: I will not play any character because I think to play such a character we need to be so pure and in this Kalyug no one is so pure to play such a role. Each and every character in Ramayan is very difficult to play and has a lot of responsibilities.
Your plans for Dussehra this year: It's going to be a working day for me. But I have been performing puja daily for all these 9 days and have been observing a fast too.
