Hi Ghumians,
Here I am back with the second chapter of the story.
I am trying to keep the story as short as possible so I am not writing in detail. Hope it's not that bad and is readable. I really hope you will like it.
Thanks for reading and the lovely comments on the first chapter.
Sai and Dev looked at each other. He made that puppy face that said « Please talk to him ». Sai sighed and murmured a « OK ! ». After their lunch break, Sai went to meet Vinayak. He was adamant about not sharing any kind of information.
« Why did you call me Sai maa ? », she finally asked.
« You look just like my mother. I miss her. », he replied.
« What happened to her ? », she asked.
« I don't know. », he replied.
Sai felt bad for him. As a mother she still missed her son she was forced to abandon when he was just a few weeks old. No wonder as a child he was in so much pain.
« I have to go back to duty but this is my number. Call me if you want to talk. », Sai gave him her visiting card.
« Ok ! Thank you. », he replied.
« Pleasure's mine. », she replied giving him a tight hug.
Just when she was about to leave, « You can call me Vee or Vicky like my friends call me. »
« Nice to meet you Vicky. », she said turning around.
« Me too Sai maa... I mean if you don't mind being called like that. », he replied.
« You can call me like that. », she replied as she didn't want to break the little one's heart.
She smiled, said goodbye and left. There was something about that boy which touched her heart really bad. Maybe the same loss. He was deprieved of his mother and she of her son. She found Dev in the corridor and shared the little she came to know about the kid. *
« At least he is talking. », he said.
« I am leaving tomorrow morning. », she reminded him.
« You really need to stop sharing your contact details. Anyway, have a safe journey. », he said.
« He is not my patient so I don't have to worry. And thanks. », she replied. « Don't miss me too much. », she said walking away.
« I won't. It's Monster Saavi that I will miss. », he replied.
Sai smiled. They shared a lovely niece uncle relationship. Dev was a true friend almost like a brother. She made many brothers in her life but this time it was different. Samrat, Mohit, Pulkit all became her brothers through Virat and when their marriage broke off she lost them too whereas with Dev it was natural.
Virat got informed that his son was found and transported to the hospital. He and his family rushed to him. Virat's heart broke when he noticed that his son wasn't happy seeing him nor his family but still without fighting he accepted to return back home. During the entire journey he didn't say a word as he was upset with everyone.
Once Vinayak was transfered to his room, Virat was finally relieved and went to his room, the one that was so quiet since Sai left him. He let himself fall on the bed and watched the ceiling. His phone kept ringing for quite a long time which he finally picked up. Saavi's « Hello Mister Cop » brought a huge smile on his face.
« Saavi the Wondergirl, how may I help you ? », he asked.
« I am bored. », she replied.
Virat gave his precious fifteen minutes to her to end her boredom discussing about how she ended up being alone with a nanny while her mother was at work. Meanwhile Vinayak asked his Devi aunt to give him her phone so that he can call someone. He dialed the number given by Sai, Sai who was stuck in a traffic jam. She was extremely happy that he was back to his family and prayed for his speedy recovery.
During the next three days both the children talked with Sai and Virat through phone every single day. Saavi brought that smile back on Virat's face he had lost six years ago and helped him forget for some time about Sai. Vinayak made Sai feel like if she was talking to her son she hasn't seen for six years.
Then came the day when Virat decided to go for shopping after his duty. He wanted to buy gifts for his son to lighten up his mood. He hasn't talked to him properly for so long. He didn't know that it was his lucky day. Sai and Saavi was in that same shopping mall. The little girl saw him from afar and screamed « Mister Cop ». Sai requested her to behave while wondering who was she calling. Virat looked for her everywhere and then finally found her.
« Mister Cop ? You here ? », she asked.
« Saavi the explorer ? What are you doing in Nagpur ? », he asked.
« Saavi stop disappearing or else... », Sai came running.
Sai couldn't finish her sentence. Virat was standing in front of her. First she got emotional seeing the man she passionately loved once upon a time then she realized the mess she was in. He was going to know that she kept his daughter away from him. She was also wondering how did her daughter know him.
« Saavi let's go. », Sai grabbed her hand and dragged her away.
« No momma, let me say hello to Mister Cop. », Saavi replied.
Sai didn't listen to her and rushed outside. Virat went numb. Not only did he come face to face to his ex wife but also the child he was so fond of was hers. Before he could say anything, they were already out of his vision. He put his hands behind his head and got hit by a tiny doubt about Saavi being his child.
He drove for a while and couldn't take the idea of Saavi being his daughter out of his head. On the other hand Saavi asked the reason why her mother didn't let her meet with Mister Cop. Sai didn't say a word and decided to leave the city before Virat could find them. She didn't want to take the risk to lose Saavi like she lost Vinayak in the past. She calmed down after speaking to Dev.
« How long will you hide from him ? You can't stop living because of him ? You can't sacrifice your career for him. You are stronger than before. Fight for your right as a mother if he tries to snatch Saavi from you. », Dev said.
His words gave her strength and she decided to follow his advice. Enough of running away. Saavi Joshi was hers and will always be hers. She won't let the Chavans take her away from her.
Virat impatiently waited for Saavi's phone call and tracked her down. An hour later he drove to the place where they were living. Saavi was already on her bed ready to fall asleep. When both Sai and Virat came face to face they looked into each other's eyes for one long minute. Their love for each other was still there deep down and for that entire minute they forgot their anger, hatred and spitefulness.
« How did you get my address ? », she finally asked coldly.
« It doesn't matter. I am here to get my answers. », he replied. « Saavi... », he wanted to continue.
« Keep my daughter's name out of your mouth. », she shouted.
« Is Saavi our daughter ? », he continued.
« She is my daughter. », she replied angrily.
« How could you hide her from me ? Why didn't you tell me about her ? », he asked.
« Live your life and let us live ours. Please, leave now. Don't make a five years old child's life miserable. », she threw him out of the house.
She closed the door in tears. He won't take her child away from her. Not this time. Not again. Virat walked for some time before going back home. He entered the house completely drenched in rain and lifeless. The entire Chavan family was still awake and was worried seeing him so broken. They kept questioning him about what happened but he couldn't say a word. His tears rolled down his face in silence.
« Tell us what happened ? We are getting worried now. », Ashwini said.
« I... I... daughter... Saavi... », he tried to explain.
« What are you trying to say ? Speak clearly. », Bhavani asked.
« Sai.. », he started.
« Don't tell me she is back ? », Omi asked.
« I... I have... Sai and I have a daughter... Saavi is my daughter. », he said.
He explained the entire story to his family. How he met Saavi and stayed in touch with her without knowing that the reason why he was so attached to her was because of the blood connection. They were all so shocked. Bhavani cursed Sai for keeping her grandchild away from her. Ashwini and Ninad were happy to know that they were also grandparents of a girl. Pakhi fumed in silence. Her entire world came to an end. She feared that this new found daughter will bring Virat and Sai closer again.
The next day after breakfast, Sai questioned Saavi about how and when she met her Mister Cop. The little girl explained that the man who saved her a week ago was him.
« Did you give him our address ? », Sai asked.
« No, but I have his number. », Saavi replied.
Before leaving Sai instructed the nanny to keep Saavi away from her phone and never let anyone enter the house even if Saavi was familiar to the person.
