bigger cities yes things are changing. Just go one level below!!! Yeah I have handful of examples which went wrong. And you have books and media which discuss these in and out. In my opinion it takes two more generations and solid education to let things happen like we desire. And for virat to not pose as a husband to protect a woman.
I agree to it all.
BUT since smaller cities are at it and do watch these shows, in a way they could make these ideal characters not do such things at times. The only way to bring that change is through movies/shows. In smaller cities a middle age woman with grown up children looking out for love would be frowned upon, probably would be attacked and yet show showcasing that aspect in an ordinary woman's life is not only loved by majority but is also being accepted with all hearts. ITV has certain degree of responsibility. This show has shown none.
Change will not come in two decades on its own. Shows though are not for reforming the society can take these small steps to bring that change. Apart from helping her study(which if he did not Sai would have stepped out anyway), Virat has honestly not done much in terms of being" not patriarchist" . Talking about words and not actions. The character introduced however was not the one I would associate all that I have said for Virat now, with. Toxic MLs have been shown to be better feminist than Virat Chavan. By feminist I mean 'human feminist' and not over blown meanings of the word.
I don't think if Virat did not pose as her husband it would not have worked, she would not have been able to deliver the baby. A lot of women on roads have given birth to babies, in smaller cities as well. I have my house help in smaller city doing fine without her husband...They have had auto wala bhaiya's as their Bhaiya help them when needed. So no this was not needed here...
