Numbed she kept gazing towards the man she loved ... she worshiped ... she trusted ... HER MAAN ... who had now turned away from ... her ... her love ... and ... her life!!




Words hurt more than anything else because they last sometimes ... Forever!!




His words ... NO ... the arrows that Her Maan had shot at her ... kept echoing around her ... they hadn't wounded her body but ... they had crushed her heart and scarred her soul!! ... FOREVER ... BEYOND REPAIR!!!

Like a lifeless body she turned and walked out of the cabin ... no idea where she was heading ... unaware of the world around her ... only when Pinky saved her from banging into the glass door did she realize what had happened.

An emotional Pinky just pulled her lifeless form in a hug, like consoling Geet and herself.


Hamari adhuri kahani..Hamari adhuri kahani..



In his anger Maan didn't realize that his cabin door hadn't shut properly and unaware to both Maan-Geet ... Pinky had heard everything.



Pinky had heard every word that Maan had uttered ... the hatred that had emerged out ... how low could someone stoop ... the disrespect that she felt for this man today ... and pain that she couldn't bear to see an innocent Geet in!!



It was heart wrenching sight to see the otherwise bubbly and chirping Geet ... so lost ... so pained ... so devastated !!!



Thankfully no one except Pinky was here ... today it felt like a blessing that no staff except a few were allowed on this floor as Maan hated disturbance or any kind of crowd around him.



Pinky immediately called Pari from her desk, as she escorted Geet out of the office, helping Geet inside the cab and instructed Pari to drop Geet home. With a heavy heart she stood there until the taxi was out of her sight. Wiping her tears she headed back in the office.



Adi and Shasha returned totally unaware about the happenings back here only to find tearful Pinky waiting for them. Before Adi could go up to her Pinky just ran into his arms crying her heart out.



If it would have been any other time Adi would have refrained any personal interaction with Pinky as Maan hated it!



But today it seemed something big had happened, something that had shaken up his otherwise cheerful wife. It felt like she didn't even care if Maan would witness her outburst or may even shout at her for breaking the decorum (discipline) of his office.



Shasha too could sense that something was very wrong ... her sixth sense alarmed her ... she had a weird feeling that ... the damage is done and was probably beyond repair!!



Both Adi Shasha asked together. "Pinky kya hua hain?"


Still holding Adi tightly to herself, Pinky narrated to them what had transpired in their absence.



"Bahot bura kiya Maan sir ne Geet ke saath ... bahot insult kiya ... usse itni gandi gandi baatein sunayi ... ke koi sunn bhi na paaye ... sir ki ilzaamon(accusations) ne tod diya Geet ko ... uski haalat ... woh ...uski aankhen jaise patthar ban gayi thi ... ek aansoon bhi nahi nikla uski aankhon se ...bejaan ho gayi thi woh ... maano kisi ne uski saansein cheen li ... jaise maar diya ho usse!!"



"Geet kahan hain? Both inquired anxiously.


"Woh maine ... usse ghar bhej diya ... Pari ke saath."


"Pari? ... Woh London se kab aayi?" Shasha queried.


"Aaj hi aayi hain ... Geet iss haalat mein nahi thi ke akele jaa sake issliye maaine ..." Pinky replied between sobs.


"Maan ne yeh theek nahi kiya!" Adi asserted.



"Aaj usne bardasht (tolerance) ki har hadd tod di hain!... Bahot ho gaya ... ab main chup nahi rahungi ... Its enough now!!" Shasha declared.



"Yeh sab kya ho raha hain yahan?" Maan's voice broke through the silence.

All three of them turned to Maan as he made way towards them eyeing Adi-Pinky clearly displeased seeing their proximity.



But the otherwise scared and nervous Pinky still held on to Adi not at all caring about Maan's presence there. Adi too held on to her knowing she was in a vulnerable state.


Their indifference irked Maan more and he burst out.

"Adi tum jaante ho na mujhe office mein personal interactions pasand nahi hain... agar tumhare jagah koi aur hota toh ..." Before he could complete Pinky spoke out.




RESPECT!... Its hard to attain

But easy to lose!!



"Toh kya karte aap ... hume bhi yahan se nikal dete ... jaise Geet ko nikala hain ...beizzat kar ke!" Pinky's defiance shocked all three of them.



She let go of Adi stepped ahead facing Maan looking right in his eyes.

There was no fear in her eyes today. All the respect she held for this man ... Her Boss till date ... was lost the very moment he vented out all his frustration on an innocent being.



"Pinky tum.. " Adi tried to mediate but Pinky raised her hand gesturing him to stop while she continued.



"Iski koi zaroorat nahi hain SIR!! ... Yeh raha mera resignation letter ... Main sirf apne pati ka wait kar rahi thi ... Main khud hi ek aisi jagah kaam nahi karna chahti jahan Boss apni naakamyaabi (failure) ka bojh (burden) ek bekasoor (innocent) pe daale! ... Sirf issliye kyunki woh ek aurat hain!!"




"AAJ .. maine dekha ke koi insaan apne gusse mein ... apne junoon mein kis hadd tak gir sakta hain ... ke saalon ki kamaayi izzat ... woh ek pal mein kho deta hain!"


"Main kya sochti thi aap ke baare main ... aur aap kya nikle ...CHI!!" She scoffed on his face.



"Jaate jaate kuch kehna chati hoon Sir ... Insaan chahe kahin se bhi gire ... dobaara uth sakta hain lekin ... Jab woh kisi ki nazron mein gir jaata hain na ... toh woh dobara kabhi nahi uth paata! ... Ek umar (lifetime) beet jaati hain!!"



"Shayad aap ko koi farak nahi padega iss baat se lekin ... main aaj aap se yeh kehna chahti hoon ke ... AAJ AAP MERI NAZRON MEIN GIR GAYE!!" She announced.



"Aaj aap ne ek begunah (innocent) aurat ko beizzat kiya hain ... ek masoom dil ko toda hain ... uski poori zindagi barbaad kar di hain ... aur aaj ek aurat hi aap se keh rahi hain ke ..."



"AAJ KA DIN ... AAP KI GHATIYA (cheap) BAATEIN ... GEET KA DARD ... AAP KABHI NAHI BHOOL PAAYENGE!! ... AUR NAA HI USKI BHARPAI (compensate) SHAYAD KABHI KAR PAAYEGE!!"




"Har pal ... har pal ... aap ko yeh ehsaas hoga ke ... jo aap ne aaj kiya woh kitna ghinona(disgusting) tha!!"



"Goodbye Sir! ... May time make you a better person!" She gave it right in his face.


Picking up her bag she left.


Maan stood there shell shocked! ... He just couldn't react!! ... A mere employee of his company had ripped him off with her words!!



Yet he just couldn't respond to what just happened ... Pinky who would fumble with even few words in his presence today stood undeterred and slapped her words his way leaving him red faced!!

"Adi tum Pinky ko dekho.." Shasha urged Adi and he rushed behind his wife.

Getting grip on himself Maan spoke "Agar tum logon ka emotional drama khatam ho gaya ho toh kaam ki baat kare!"



"Ofcourse!! ... Chaliye bahot zaroori baat karni hain aap se Mr MSK!" Shasha bit out.





Both headed towards his cabin. Before Shasha spoke Maan instantly put forward his point.


"Agar tum Geet ke baare mein baat karnewali ho toh yeh mera personal matter hain!"



"Bahar main sirf issliye chup raha kyunki Pinky, Adi ki wife hain ... aur woh apni tameez bhool gayi lekin main... " Shasha didn't let him complete.




"Lekin main toh hamesha se badtameez (ill mannered) hi tha ... lekin ab begairat (disgraceful) ... bhi ban gaya hoon!! ..Hain na Mr Maan Singh Khurana?"


"Shasha.. " He growled.


"Kya Shasha ...haan? ... Tameez ki baatein tumhare mooh se acchi nahi lagti Maan! ...Pinky ne badtameezi nahi ki ... balke aaina (mirror) dikhaya hain tumhe!! ... Tumhara asli chehra dikhaya na issliye tum bardasht (tolerate) nahi kar paaye!"



"Shasha ..thats enough! "Maan shouted.


"Don't you dare raise your voice on me today Maan ... Main Geet nahi hoon jo tumhari baatein chup chap sun loongi ... main Shasha hoon ... jawaab dena aata hain mujhe!"



" ...Pinky ne toh sirf tumhe sunaya hain ...agar main yahan hoti na toh pata nahi main tumhare saath kya karti." Grabbing his arm she dragged him to his washroom towards the mirror she continued.



"Kaisa lag raha hain tumhe aaj Maan ... ek masoom bacchi ki zindagi barbaad kar ke? ... Khushi ho rahi hogi ... aakhir tum jeet gaye ...tumhari nafrat jeet gayi ...Geet ki mohabbat haar gayi!! ... hain na."




"Gor se dekho apne chehre ko Maan kitne ghinone (disgusting) lag rahe ho tum!" Pushing him to the mirror she ridiculed him.



"Just stop this crap Shasha ... maine jo kiya woh sahi tha ... tumhari baaton se mujhe koi farak nahi padnewala ... Aur waise bhi yeh hamara personal matter hain aur office mein personal ... " But Shasha cut him off.




"Ofcourse ...u're right! ... Fark insaano ko padta hain ...pattharon ko nahi ...aur kya kaha tumne PERSONAL'?"



"Yeah right! ... Office mein staff ke liye personal interactions not allowed lekin MSK apni ek employee ke saath ... office ke har corner mein personal ho ... woh allowed ... hain na?"



"Chahe woh lift ho, washroom ho, archive ho, tumhari cabin ho ... woh sab kuch sirf tumhe allowed hain!"



"Kya bakwaas kar rahi ho tum Shasha?" Maan snapped flabbergasted trying to mask his embarrassment.


"Tumhe kya laga kisi ko pata nahi hain ... tumhare aur Geet ke beech mein kya chal raha tha ... Sab jaanti thi main."


"Pehli baar jab maine Geet ko tumhare saath dekha na ... tabhi main samajh gayi thi ke Geet tumhare liye bahot khaas hain!"



"Sab kuch pata tha mujhe ...tum yahan kya kya kar rahe the ... ya phir yeh kahu ke tum wahi kar rahe the jo main tumse karwana chahti thi."



" Yeh sab mera plan tha ... main Geet ko tumhare taraf push karti ...phir pull kar leti ... bada mazaa aa raha tha mujhe ..." She announced.




"SHASHA...How dare you?" He charged towards her and raised his hand but stopped, curling his fingers in a fist trying to control his rage.


The fact that Shasha all along knew what he felt for Geet ... She used this to her advantage ... plotting against him ... trapping him in her game was too much for him to handle.



Holding her arms he confronted her.

"Tumhari himmat kaise hui mere saath aisa karne ki ... Main Geet se door rehna chahta tha ...bahot door ..." He roared as the truth sinked in him.


"Issiliye tum Shimla bhaag gaye ... toh maine bhi Geet ko Shimla bhej diya taake... "


"Taake tum apna badla le sako ... tum aur Geet mil kar mujhe ..." He yelled.


"Sirf main ... ...sirf main ... Geet nahi!" Shasha confessed.


"... woh masoom toh tumhaare liye apni feelings bhi nahi samajh paa rahi thi ... maine hi usse tumhari taraf push kiya tha ... GEET BEKASOOR HAIN!!" She disclosed.



"Sab kuch maine kiya ... sirf maine...apne dost ke liye ...apni dosti ke liye!! ... Lekin ... Galat kiya ...bahot galat kar diya maine ... Aur mere kiye ki sazaa Geet ko mili!" She chocked on her words.



" ... Adi aur Jay mujhe keh rahe the lekin mujhe yakeen tha ke mera dost Geet ka ...apne pyaar ka dil ... nahi tod sakta ... yakeen tha mujhe ke Geet ka pyaar usse wapas le aayega ... Geet usse jeena sikha degi ... uska ghar basaayegi!"

"Yehi mera badla tha Maan ... ke main chahti thi tumhe saari khushiyaan mile ... auraton ke liye jo tumhaari nafrat hain woh khatam ho jaaye! ... Tum sacche pyaar ki ehmiyat(value) samjho"


"Tumhara soya hua dil jaag jaayega lekin mujhe ehsaas hi nahi hua ke woh dil toh kab ka mar chuka hain!"She rued.


"Tumhe sazaa deni hain toh mujhe do ... main tumhaari aur Geet ki gunehgaar hoon ...Geet nahi ...GEET NAHI!!!"


Holding his arms Shasha confronted him crying helplessly while Maan stood like a statue clueless of how his planned life had gone haywire!



"TUMHE JEENA SIKHANE KE LIYE MAINE GEET KI ZINDAGI CHEEN LI!!" Sinking down on the floor she wept.


Realization that only she was to be blamed ... she had ruined an innocent life ... her overconfidence in her friend had shattered a pure soul!!


"SHASHA TUMHAARI DOSTI HAAR GAYI ... AUR Maan Singh Khurana KI NAFRAT JEET GAYI!!"

"Aur ab rone se koi faayda nahi hain ... jo ho chuka hain usse hum badal nahi sakte." Adi asserted helping Shasha up.


Adi had rushed after Pinky but Pinky had sent him back assuring him she was fine. And right now she was more worried for Geet and wished to be with her. As Pinky left, Adi headed back to his office and he had witnessed Maan-Shasha confrontation.



Never push a loyal person to the point

where they no longer care!!




"SHASHA TUMHAARI DOSTI HAAR GAYI ... AUR Maan Singh Khurana KI NAFRAT JEET GAYI!!"


"Aur ab rone se koi faayda nahi hain ... jo ho chuka hain usse hum badal nahi sakte." Adi asserted helping Shasha up.



"Aur waise bhi MSK ki marzi ke aage kisi ki nahi chalti ... KYUNKI WOH JO SOCHE WOH SAHI ... WOH JO SAMJHE WOH SAHI ... WOH JO MAANE WOH SAHI ... AUR WOH JO KARE WOH HI SAHI!!" Adi announced.



"Jo insaan sahi aur galat ke beech ka fark bhi nahi samajh sakta ... usse hum kya samjhayenge ... Ek dhoke ki wajah se ... sab dhokebaaz ... ek aurat ki galati ... toh saari auratein galat ... Ek rishte ke wajah se ... saare risthey tod diye!"



"Hamari koi aukaad nahi hain ke hum inhe kuch bhi kahe!! ... Chahe phir woh Adi ho, Shasha ho, Jai ho ...ya phir GEET! ... Hamaara hona na hona ... koi maayne nahi rakhta..."



"MAAYNE RAKHTA HAIN TOH SIRF Maan Singh Khurana KI NAFRAT ... USKA JHOOTA ABHIMAAN ... AUR USKA EGO!!"



"Jiske aage usse kuch aur nazar nahi aata ... na hamaari feelings ... na hamaari dosti ... aur naa hi GEET KA SACCHA PYAAR!!"



"Adi tum bhi?... " Maan murmured painfully.



"Sorry Sir!! Aaj jo kuch bhi hua uske liye hum maafi maangte hain ... hamaari wajah se aap ko itni takleef hui! "



"Humne soch bhi kaise liya ke ... hum aap ki zindagi mein khushiyaan laaye ... pyaar laaye ... parivaar laaye! ... Aap ki Perfect zindagi ko Disturb kare! ... SORRY SIR!" He apologized.



"Yeh mera resignation letter hain ... fikar mat kijiye Sir ... KC ka namak khaya hain ... crisis ke waqt chodkar nahi jaaunga ... jab tak ... sab kuch sort out nahi hota yahin rahunga."



"... Nahi chahta ke saalon ki dosti badnaam ho jaaye ... aur kis ko yeh kehne ka mauka mile ke dost bhi dhokebaaz hote hain ... musibat ke waqt chodkar bhaag gaye!!"



"APNI DOSTI KA HAQ ADA KAR KE JAAUNGA!!" Adi declared.



Adi's and Shasha's words pierced his heart!! ... His friends ... his small little family ...was falling apart!!



Their outburst had hurt him ... grieved him ... agonized him!!!



He just couldn't comprehend what was happening with him ... in a matter of few hours there was so much chaos ... so much conflict ... so much mess in his life! ... Everything was going wrong!




But what he still didn't understand was that he was wrong ... his baseless hatred for women was wrong ... his misconceptions about relationships was wrong ... his distrust in a pure emotion like LOVE was wrong!!!



If his friends statements had hurt him ... the next face off would shatter him!!




He had no clue what was awaiting him now ... In the coming few minutes the truth that would surface out would jolt him out of all his misbelief!!





Before he could recover out of his state and react there was a knock on the door. All three looked towards the door as Pari peeped in and informed.



"Sir ... Mrs Rano Handa is here to see you."



While Adi and Shasha were worried expecting the worst ... Maan smirked not at all surprised hearing this information.



He gestured Pari to allow her in, as Pari left to inform Rano.





Maan sneered, "Mrs Handa ko bahot takleef hui hogi yeh soch kar ke ... Geet naam ka unka blank cheque bounce ho gaya."



"Agar Maa ke galat hone se aulaad bhi galat ho ... toh ... tum apne baare mein kya kahoge Maan?" Shasha bit back immediately questioning his own actions.

Rano entered the cabin while Adi and Shasha left not wanting to intrude their privacy.

Seated on his majestic chair Maan inquired.
"Yes ... How may I help you Mrs Handa?" His face sealed, not giving out a tinge of his inner turmoil.


"Woh ... Main ..." She fumbled with her words. Closing her eyes for a moment collecting herself she continued.


"Kuch hua hain kya? ... Aap ke aur Geet ke beech mein?" She inquired.


Giving out a slight laugh Maan replied sarcastically.



"That was fast!!! ... Though I'm not at all surprised that you are here ... I had expected ... but not this soon!"


"Anyways coming to your question ... don't you think Mrs Handa its our personal matter ... between me and Geet!" He stressed more on the last part, clearly not wanting to discuss it.



"Ji ... I understand ...its just that Geet came home and ..." She tried to frame her words but Maan didn't let her continue.




"And she told you everything and you thought to come here and do some damage control ...hain na?" He completed her sentence.


"Nahi ... She hasn't spoken a word since she has come ... Pari said she isn't feeling well so needs rest ... Everyone in my house believed it."



" ... But I know my daughter ... I can read her eyes ... know what's in her heart ... can feel her pain ... and relate to her restlessness ... Because I'm HER MOTHER!!!" She declared proudly.



"MOTHER... Ha ha ha..." This time Maan couldn't control and he laughed out loud hearing Mrs Handa's statement of being Geet's mother.



"You know ...you amuse me Mrs Handa!!" He laughed.


"Jhooth bol ne se pehle ... insaan ko dekh lena chahiye ke ... woh kya bol raha hain ... kahan bol raha hain ... aur sabse zaroori ... kis ke saamne bol raha hain!!" Maan stated firmly.



He was astonished at the audacity of this woman who has always been a cause of Geet's pain ... made her life living hell ... and now she comes up and announces that she is her mother and can relate to her every pain. He scoffed at the very thought and burst out.



"Yeh perfect MAA' hone ka drama mere saamne mat kijiye ... sab jaanta hoon main aap ke baare mein ... aur sab samajhta bhi hoon ke aap yahan kyun aayi hain."



"Mrs Handa takleef aap ko Geet ke dard ki nahi hain ... iss baat ki hain ke ... agar mere aur Geet ke beech main kuch problem ho gayi ... toh aap ke sapne aur saare armaan toot jaayenge ... hain na?" He mocked her.




"Agar aap ka drama ho gaya hain ... toh aap jaa sakti hain!... Kyunki main Geet ke baare mein ab koi baat nahi karna chahta!!" He said in finality.



Maan's statement confirmed Rano's doubt that something major had happened between them ... which had shattered Geet!



Destiny had brought Geet on the same threshold where years back She (Rano) had stood ... helpless ... defeated ... and pained!!



Rano had two choices today ... to either walk away from here without another word ... OR ...


Rano knew her silence will destroy her child's life forever!! ... And the revelation will strip open her entire life ...her woes ... her scars ... forever!!


Rano had to decide between GEET and HERSELF!! ... Geet's happiness or Her Vulnerability ... Geet's future or Her Painful Past!!


WAS SHE READY TO VENTURE IN THOSE DARK ALLEYS OF HER PAST?





Mustering all her courage she spoke out.

"Ek baat poochu aap se ... Kuch waqt pehle Annie ke liye ek rishta aaya tha na ... kya aap ne woh rishta pakka kar diya?" Rano queried apprehensively.



Banging his hands on the table Maan got up and this time burst out on her.



"Thats non of your business Mrs Handa! ... Its our family matter ... Aur waise bhi Annie abhi bacchi hain!!" He replied angrily.



He had a terrible day today ... first the tender ... then Geet ... then the outburst of Pinky, Shasha, Adi and now this lady was testing his patience!



He was trying to be as calm as he can but the mere mention of that disgusting marriage proposal for Annie by his so called mother (Rashmi Khurana) just snapped the last thread of his tolerance!

He didn't want to misbehave with an elderly lady so he just looked straight in her eyes and was going to tell her to leave immediately before he looses his control but ... what he saw confused him!



Rano's eyes brimmed with tears as she repeated the word Maan said.

"Bacchi..!! A tear spilled from her eyes this time.


"Main sirf 17 saal ki thi jab meri shaadi Geet ke Papaji se hui thi! ... Bacchi thi ... jo padhna chahti thi ...kuch karna chahti thi ... lekin ..."



"Meri shaadi mujhse umar mein kaafi bade aadmi se ho gayi ... jo ek bacchi ka baap tha ... ussi pal meri zindagi ke saare sapne ... saare armaan toot gaye the Maan ... aaj nahi!!" She asserted to his earlier accusation.



Rano narrated to him how Mohinder and her family were neighbours in Hoshiarpur. Mohinder had fallen in love with Geet's mother Santosh.


Santosh belonged to a very wealthy family so they didn't approve of Mohinder who was from a middle class family. Santosh married Mohinder against her parents wish, so they disowned her. The embarrassment of their only daughter's marriage forced her parents to leave Hoshiarpur.


Life was going fine for them, soon Santosh became pregnant and she gave birth to Geet. They were all happy in their little world. Young Rano would rush home from school everyday so that she can play with baby Geet. She spent hours and hours playing and taking care of Geet.



A very strong bond developed between Rano and Geet!! ... People around would casually say that Rano was like Geet's second mother!!


But this happiness was short lived until that fateful day when everything was destroyed ... forever!




Rano was as usual at Handa house with Geet when Santosh Jiji had requested her to be here with Geet until she came back. Santosh needed to go out as she had some important work. Young Rano had promised her Jiji to be with Geet unaware of the fact that she would never return home.




Santosh had learnt through someone that her parents were back in Hoshiarpur for some work ... the daughter in her couldn't stop herself from meeting her parents. She had rushed to just catch a glimpse of them when she met with an accident and breathed her last!




A daughter's marriage had separated two families and sadly daughter's death that day had united them again! ... But the loss was irreparable!!



Baby Geet was glued to Rano all the while and Rano too fulfilled all her duties earnestly unaware of fact that destiny and her elders have already decided her fate!!



Rano was married to Mohinder ... Her Santosh Jiji's husband ... Her fate was sealed forever!!



So much had happened in a matter of just few days that Rano was in an emotional mess!! She felt betrayed by her family who just wanted to get rid of her liability at the earliest in this dowry-less marriage ... Her in-laws who just needed her for taking care of their house and Geet ... her so called husband who had drowned in sorrow of his late wife!


Not in her wildest dreams had she thought Fate could play such a big joke with her life!! ... Not that she believed in some fantasies or fairy tales ... But she dreamt of having a loving husband .. her happy small little family ... But...


She can never forget her wedding night when her husband had abandoned her stating that he had just married her for the sake of Geet and his family. Before leaving the room he had clearly told her never to expect that she will hold any place in his life. His tone was so loud that it had scared the sleeping Geet and she had started crying.




Young Rano felt as if she had been locked in an dark pit and the only ray of light in her otherwise ruined life was GEET!!


Consoling the crying baby in her arms Rano had promised Geet and herself that she will always stand by her and protect her from everybody!!



"Uss raat maine Geet se aur apne aap se vaada kiya tha ke ... jo mere saath hua woh main kabhi Geet ke saath nahi hone doongi!!"



"Uss din se Geet hi meri duniya ban gayi ... hum dono ek dusre ke liye ... maa beti ... saathi ... dost ... sab kuch the!"



"Ghar ke baaki logon ke liye mera hona na hona koi maayne nahi rakhta tha ... meri apni koi aulaad (child )hogi iski umeed bhi nahi thi mujhe ... lekin main Maa bani ... not because my husband accepted me as his wife but sometimes when he was heavily drunk he would ... "



Tears trickled down her cheeks recalling the pain she had faced. Maan just stood their motionless as Rano continued about her tormented past.


"Kuch waqt ke baad hum Delhi aa gaye ... Woh accha kama rahe the lekin Biji bimaar rehne lagi ... bacche bade ho rahe the ... ghar ka kharcha mushkil se chalta ... hamaare teen baccho ka future daav pe laga tha ... main logon ke kapde seene (sewing) lagi ... Geet sab dekhti ... woh meri madad karna chahti thi ... kahin na kahin ghar ki pareshani mein ... uska bachpan kho raha tha!" Rano stated.




One day Rano saw Geet sitting on her sewing machine trying to stitch a cloth! ... That sight had shaken her up ... Rano had felt she failed in her duty ... in her promise to keep her children away from all the pains.



"Uss din main darr gayi thi ... aur uss darr ke wajah se maine pehli aur aakhri baar Geet par hath uthaya tha ... Geet ki woh aankhen ... woh dard main kabhi nahi bhool sakti! She chocked for a moment.




"Lekin mera darr ...Geet ke dard se bahot bada tha!!" She stated the fact.



That very day Geet's grandparents(Nani-Nani) had come to meet them ... they were not keeping well so wanted make their will ... They wanted to handover all their inheritance to Geet's Papaji but he was self made man so he refused the inheritance. There were lot of arguments and discussions and my husbands ego was too big to accept their wish.



I looked at the sleeping Geet who had cried herself to sleep! ... It was now or never for me .. And I did what I felt right!!



I suggested that they should transfer all their inheritance to Geet as she was their legal heir! .. Thankfully her grandparents readily agreed.



That day there was a little progress in my relations with my husband and Biji! ... Till date there was only indifference in their eyes for me but now those eyes just reflected hatred for me!!




"Uss din maine Geet par haath uthaya tha ... uske hisse ke paison ko maanga tha ... Uss din main Geet ki Maa se uski Souteli Maa ban gayi!!" She asserted painfully.



"Agar buri ban kar main apne baccho ka future secure kar sakti hoon toh main buri hi sahi!! ... Geet ko ab mujhe apne se door rakhna bahot zaroori tha ... taake woh sirf apni padhaai pe dhyaan de ... aur maine wohi kiya ... Main ab uski Souteli Maa ban gayi jo nahi chati thi ... ke woh mere aas paas bhi rahe!"



"Par main bhool gayi thi ke hum khoon se naa sahi ... par atma se jude hue hain ... Woh meri unkahin baatein bhi samajh jaati ... Bahot sawaal the uski masoom aankhone mein ... par ab main kamzor nahi pad sakti thi ... chahe mujhe aur Geet ko kitni bhi takleef ho!! ... Maine Souteli Maa hone ka naatak jaari rakha!!" She disclosed.




People who hide their feelings

Usually care the most!!





"Lekin aap jaante hain Maanji ...mere iss badlaav se mere Pati aur Biji darr gaye the ...unhe laga ke ...kahin main Geet ke haq ke paise cheen na loon ... issliye unhone woh Will banayi!!" She added.




"Apne baccho ki Maa par vishwas nahi tha unhe ... Lekin baharwalo par tha!! She laughed at her plight.



Rohan's family (Geet's fiance) was always interested in claiming Geet's inheritance and so they persuaded Mohinder in fixing Geet's and Rohan's wedding. Geet's Papaji couldn't see their ulterior motives but I could.



Inspite of my numerous protests this alliance was fixed leaving me helpless!

If that was not enough ... another blow awaited my family ... Geet's Papaji's accident.



"Unke accident ne hume poori tarah se tod diya ... aap logon ne bahot kiya hamaare liye ... lekin jab ghar ka ek lauta mard (only male member) bimaar ho jaata hain toh logon ki nazar badal jaati hain!




"Geet ki taraf logon ki nazar badal ne lagi ... Geet ki khoobsurati mujhe darane lagi thi ... Mere apne ghar mein ek baar Brij ne uske saath ..."

Rano shuddered at the mere thought of what would have happened if she hadn't reached on time that day.




Maan on his own accord curled his fingers in a fist ... The fact that Brij had misbehaved with his Geet angered him.




"Kaise bachati ... kab tak bachati ... main usse iss duniya ki gandi nazar se ... Main har waqt toh uske paas ... uske saath nahi reh sakti thi!" A helpless mother rued.




So Rano kept a a very vigilant watch on Geet ... not letting her go anywhere else apart from her college yet the Brij incident had scared her. She would let Geet wear only selected clothes covering her top to toe safeguarding her from every evil eye. But these were just temporary measures Rano had to think of some major step to protect her naive and innocent Geet!




And thankfully once when Maan's Dad had visited them she requested him to let Geet work in KC.



Rano was sure that in KC Geet would be safe ... But Alas!! ... Disgusting people like Brij or Mehra were everywhere in this big bad world.





"Par jab aap ne usse bacahaya aur Geet ko apne paas rakhne ki baat ki tab mera darr kam ho gaya ... Aap ke hote hue Geet bilkul surakshit rahegi!! Rano's confidence in Maan felt as a slap right across his face.





Little did she know that he had broken their trust ... instead of protecting her daughter he had taken advantage of her innocence and emotions!




"Jab Rohan ke family ko pata chala ke Geet aap ke saath kaam kar rahi hain ... toh woh shaadi ki jaldi karne lage ... kyunki ab Geet zyaada paise lekar aayegi unke ghar ... Main aisa kaise hone deti ... Rohan Geet se pyaar nahi karta tha uski aankhon mein Geet ke liye koi pyaar nahi tha.I couldn't allow Geet to get into a loveless marriage!!





"... Aur issliye maine Geet ko kasam di ke woh mer marzi ke bina kabhi bhi shaadi nahi karegi!!" ... And My Geet didn't disappoint me!! She divulged.

"Main duniya ki nazron mein aur gir gayi ... kaisi Maa hoon main ... apni bacchi ki dushman hoon ... uski poori zindagi barbaad karna chahti hoon! ... Yeh saare ilzaam bhi mujhe pe lag gaye! ... Lekin mujhe koi parvah nahi thi ..mere liye Geet se zyaada kuch zaroori nahi tha!!"



"Agar main aaj aap se kahu ke aap apna sab kuch Geet ke naam kar dijiye toh ... kya aap aisa karenge Maanji?"




"KYA??" Maan asked flabbergasted.


"Bura laga na aap ko ... aap yehi sochenge kaisi aurat hain ... meri property pe nazar hain."



"Aurat agar apne haq ke liye awaaz uthaye toh woh galat ... laalchi (greedy) ... swaarthi (selfish) ...hain na!"




"Ghar ka beta agar ghar chalaye toh woh uska farz lekin agar beti se yeh umeed rakhe toh woh galat hain ... paap hain ... beti ki zindagi barbaad karna hain ... uska istamaal karna hain ...Kyun??"




"Mard kare toh sahi ... par aurat bole toh galat! ... Main issi galat soch ke khilaaf lad rahi thi ... aur kahin na khain Geet meri iss ladaai ko samajhti thi aur jaane anjaane mera saath bhi de rahi thi!!" She disclosed.



"Lekin jab Geet 19 saal ki ho gayi tab ..."


Rano then brought Maan's attention to that incident here in Delhi, after Geet's 19th birthday (in Shimla) Mohinder was hell bent on getting Geet married to Rahul but Rano was adamant too!




But she had to act fast before its too late ... not that she doubted Geet but yet she couldn't take a chance.




"Aur issliye aap ne Geet ki shaadi Brij se tay (fix) kar di!" Maan couldn't stop himself from probing.



"Haan." She replied.





Rano elder sister Kuljeet (Brij's mother) had come up with an idea of getting Brij and Geet married. She had convinced Rano that Brij really loved Geet and he is truly ashamed of that incident. They promised Rano that they will always keep Geet happy. As Rano's sister belonged to a very wealthy family she didn't doubt their intentions about Geet's inheritance and the fact that Geet would be in her family relieved the mother in her ...BUT...






"Hamesha ki tarah mere apno ne mujhe phir se dhoka diya ... uss din jab main Kuljeet Didi se milne, unki hotel gayi thi toh maine unki aur Brij ki baatein room ke bahar se sun li... Woh log bankrupt ho gaye the aur Geet ki property hi unki umeed thi ... itna hi nahi iss shaadi se Brij apni beizzati ka badla mujh se aur Geet se lena chahta tha."





"Toot gayi thi main ... Har koi sirf paison ke peeche pada tha ... Kyun main apni beti ke haq ke paise doosron ko doon? ... Geet apni marzi se kisi ko dena chahe woh alag baat hain ... Par main kisi ko uska haq nahi cheen ne doongi!!"


"Koi raasta nahi nazar aa raha tha mujhe ... Kya likha tha Rab ne meri Geet ki kismat mein ... Ghar aa toh gayi thi lekin ... ab kya karti main ... Tab jaise Babaji ne aap ko bheja ek farishta (saviour) ban kar!"



"Maine aap ki aur Geet ki saari baatein sun li ... Geet ne mujhe wahan dekh liya tha ... aap par poora vishwas tha mujhe ... aur issliye maine hi Geet ko haan karne ka ishaara kiya tha!!" Rano announced.



"Meri marzi ke bina ... Geet kabhi aap ki baat nahi maanti ... chahe kuch bhi ho jaaye!! ... Kehte hain khoon ke rishtey bahot mazboot hote hain ...Lekin yeh sahi nahi hain!"


"KHOON SE ZYAADA MAZBOOT HOTE HAIN ... DIL KE RISHTEY ... DARD KE RISHTEY ... AATMA SE JUDE RISHTEY!!"




"Aur yehi mera aur Geet ka rishta hain!"



"MAIN USKI MAA THI ... HOON ...AUR HAMESHA RAHUNGI!!"This time she proclaimed proudly.

"Duniya mere baare mein kuch bhi soche mujhe koi farak nahi padta ... Main apne hisse ka sach jaanti hoon ... aur meri beti meri bebasi samajhti hain ... yehi hamaare liye kaafi hain."




I keep it all inside

Because I'd rather let

Pain destroy me ... than everyone else!!





"Aap ne jo Geet ke liye ... mere parivaar ke liye kiya ... Main saat janam mein bhi aap ka ehsaan nahi chuka sakti!" She thanked him.




"Lekin yeh MAA apni beti ko takleef mein nahi dekh sakti ... aur sirf issliye main aap ke paas aayi thi ... Main kabhi aap ko apna sach nahi batati ... lekin agar mera sach saamne aane se aap ki galatfehmi door hoti hain ... meri bacchi ki khushiyaan laut aati hain toh ... yeh Maa uske liye kuch bhi karegi." She confessed.



"Geet naadaan hain ... duniyadaari nahi samajhti ... agar usse koi galti ho gayi ho toh please usse maaf kar dijiye ... Woh aap se bahot pyaar karti hain! ... Aap ke bina nahi jee paayegi woh!" She asserted.





Maan stood frozen as the truth emerged out in its full glory!!!

The woman who stood opposite him ... whom everybody hated ... who was accused of being a gold digger ... selfish ... heartless ... had wronged all his notions about WOMEN!!!



The worst battle is between what you think you know

And what actually surfaces out!!




She was a live example of a woman who could go to any extent to safeguard her child ... a child who she had not even given birth to ... yet their bond was unbreakable!!!



For a moment he did envy Geet ... she was so lucky she had a MOTHER ...who loved her unconditionally ... Who fought the world alone for her happiness ... Annie and he had always craved for this love but ...




People don't want to hear the truth

Because they don't want their illusions to be destroyed!!




Rano's voice broke his reverie.



Maan had not reacted yet ... he just stood dazed ... Rano was unsure wether he will even believe her truth. She had done her duty as a mother and right now Geet needed her... She believed Maan needed some time so before leaving she spoke out.




"Maanji hum insaan hain ... galti karna hamaari fitrat (habit) hain ... aur hum apni galtiyon se hi seekhte hain ... apni galti ka ehsaas hona ... uski maafi maang lena hi zindagi hain."


"Hamaari inhi galtiyon ko hammare apne maaf kar dete hain ... yeh zaroori toh nahi ... ke bade koi galati nahi kar sakte ...waqt aur haalat kai baar (many times) hume majboor kar dete hain"


" Apne dil ko saaf rakh kar ... maaf kar dena hi ... asli rishton ki taaqat hoti hain."


"Aage aap khud samajhdaar hain!" Rano enlightened Maan.



Rano knew that Maan too has trust issues and the root cause of all this chaos in his and Geet's life lies in the strained relationships of the Khurana family.




Before leaving she tried one last time to guide Maan towards a correct path!


Path of Love ... Relations ... and Togetherness!!




Rano's truth had wronged his entire being ... all his hatred ... all his anger ... all his acts!!

Today he had witnessed different facets of Women ...

His Geet whose unconditional love he never valued!! ...

Pinky who stood up strong against him for an honour of a woman!!! ...

Shasha who could go to any extent for her friendship!!! ...

And Rano Handa who was the live example of surrender, strength and sacrifice !!!

How lowly he felt ... as he stood defeated ... he had lost his Love ... his friends ... his everything!!

He ruined it all ... by his own hands ... and now he stands here ... shattered ... lonely ... just like a looser!!!




Life's greatest lessons are usually learnt
