A very Good Post but sorry to say the very first post of yours.. I mean no reader will understand it coz for them a writer is just a person who only writes and has no life of their own.

They have made their motto of never understanding a writer and their problems so thinking from a writer's POV hm,, tats very difficult for them and specially when there's a certain person who feeds useless things about writers and comments on each comment of hers about how bad writers are in updating...So for me you have done a great work with your post but somewhere the desired result..hmm tat i cant see.

And coming to you equality...

Right i too want to know why it is soo.. I being a writer i did have stories about a Maan who is abuser... a rapist in anger.. a possessive lover and wat not but everyone have read and accepted in but very few genuine readers have gone against him and have asked me not to forgive Maan so easily and I have done tat coz tat wat I plan.. This is a fiction and we cant take it seriously but its a truth tat we have to accept equality for both the lead actors so if Maan is being accepted then Geet should be but somewhere someone or the other does not and tat i hate..

If you simply cant accept it then dont read and bash the writer coz you don't have any right. If you are a modern person who believes in equality then accept Geet and Maan as they are in the story or else just leave it.. I do it.. yes I do want Maan and Geet to be in love with each other in each story but tat does not mean i would want Geet to been virgin and Maan to sleep around.. tat will be crazy from my side and if i dont like a certain story i simply stop reading it... like I have done some stories but its not coz of Geet been a casual one night stander or coz of Maan being casanova.. its coz i simply dont like it.

Next..about likes at the start... i have been a writer for almost 3 years now and at the start i had this problem bt not later and now i get good likes at the start and then just after 2 or 3 updated they decrease to such an extent tat i m forced to think why did i start a new story. anyways tats not a issue for me now coz i have decided to quit the forum forever.

And about the side characters..then i would just say tat no story can be completed with side characters and readers should not ask all only MG and MG..coz then it would be waste writing on Maaneet and if you simply want MG then please do not ever read my stories coz my stories are filled with many side characters tat are very much important just like MG

And last...

the double century FF is mine and I'm very much happy with the result after i shifted it to blog coz i have got some genuine readers there who knows wat i want and they know tat watever i give them is the best.. but as you said it was right.. my main reason to shift GUZAARISH was coz of likes and Geet being ruthless.. This ff was the very first FF where i tried a different Geet and you wont believe even after shifting it to blog i was being bashed in my FB inbox and wat not.. at one time i had decided to discontinue but no i continued it.

There was girl who asked me why Geet was given a second chance.. why Maan wasnt married to someone else and heck i was like wat the hell when Maan can be given sceond chance in almost alll stories then why not Geet... the girl was like in real life no person gets a second chance and blah blah and you can just imagine how i was with this... it was a blow coz i myself believe in giving a person second chance and i always tend to use some of my personal experiences in my stories. This girl she almost bashed me for 48 hours and i was fed up and finally asked her tat if you had a family person like geet would you have killed her or thrown out and she said tat i would not give a chance coz no one deserves a second chance and all tat again.. a

and this is not just the case... there was another girl who started to compare the fiction with real life and started to bash me and message me... it was a hard time to even answer such weird readers who don't understand the meaning of real and imagination but in all m happy tat my loyal readers do understand the difference and yes they stand with equality.. if they accept maan then they accept Geet in my stories and now i m much more confident in writing a different geet and experimenting with her character just like Maan...

In all i want to say.. that if you are modern enough and live in this new world then you do need to accept Geet and Maan as they are shown rather then giving names to writers and all tat bashing but it depends on each person coz however much we say we cannot change the stupid mind set of such readers and yeah simply coz you love bashing and giving names to writers.. dont jump into it coz its a fiction and not a real life.. at least think on this truth tat Geet and Maan are fictional characters but when you bash and give names to writers you show who you are in real and how you are brought up...

Hats off to you girl.. you raised up this topic

Hello. Thank you for posting your comment and sharing your experience in this thread.

Congratulations on hitting double century of your story. Specially when it had a grey shaded Geet. Having a different Geet and making that story so successful is amazing.

However, I see that even after shifting the story to blog, you have faced the outburst of readers like I have said in my thread. And my intention is very clear. If one reader does not like a particular concept being written by a writer then they should not read such stories. No reader has the right to ridicule and bash writers just cos they show a different Geet. Give writers their liberty. Live and let live. No writer force their readers that they have to read every stories and concepts they come up with. To each his own. Respect writers vision if you yourself choose to read their story despite not liking their concepts.

It's sad that even you had to go through all those hate messages. They really do hurt and dishearten one writer. Readers don't even realize how their bashing can demoralize one writer.

And no one is asking the readers to change their mindset. If one has a mindset then they should simply ignore those stories. Is it so hard to stop yourself from reading a particular concept you don't even like? It shocks me that readers force themselves to read such concepts and then they go ahead and try forcing the writers to change the storyline as well. It's ridiculous.

You may not agree with what I am saying but here goes.

Geet forum is very close to us and hence we tend to look at it in a biased way sometimes.

I actually liked how you in the start itself accepted that we look geet forum in a biased way.

We are still in a forum reading stories about a, to our minds, perfect romance.

Blame it on my analytical business approach or whatever but I look at the situation as a demand/supply thing.

So looking around we have to assess who our readers are.

I agree. And there are readers who love to read on every genre. I do. I like romance, drama, thriller, comedy or even a dark story.

A very broad generalization of course but perhaps a mix of students, housewives, a few business women, a few professional women and some guys

So we have the audience

Then we look at the need of the audience to connect to the forum looking for something. So in terms of business what product appeals most?

Some ladies have told me about their heartbreak, some have dreams of finding their perfect man, a few identify with the saas bahu scenario and a few with jealous characters ruining their life.

Here I will add something about myself. I am open to every genre. If I like reading innocent, shy, naive, introvert, selfless Geet then I equally enjoy reading independent, strong, bold, outspoken, selfish, egoist and complete badass Geet as well.

The point is (however simplistic) most women want to identify with Geet. They think of themselves as the innocent person who is struggling with things. They look for a person to sweep them away and take away their woes.

When it comes to feel connected or identifying, then I connect with the second category I mentioned. Maybe cos I am myself very egoist girl. I am selfish and I love flawed characters more. And when a writer shows a character growth in such flawed characters, I feel like I am growing with them. I am also a very practical girl in real life. So I usually don't believe in prince and princess or damsel in distress kind of stories. Maybe cos I am a very head strong girl, I love it when Geet is shown doing her own work, fighting her own battle, I like it when she isn't dependent on Maan on everything, has her own perspective and belief, respect and love herself. And the most shocking thing about me is, I do not believe in love. 😆

Anyway, I don't know how many girls are like me in this forum but from my observation, since I read every type of stories, I have seen few of the audience accepting grey Geet as well. The one who don't accept should not read such stories is what I feel. And if they choose to read it when they don't like Geet being portrayed in a particular way then at least they should not force the writer to stop from exploring their own talent. Those who give flawed characters are fine with character bashing. However, it is unfair when they overstep the boundary line and resort to bashing the writers by sending them hate pms. My post is about that and for those readers.

It is not like I didnt understand your point. In fact, I agree to what you said. The greater number of our audience love reading arrange marriage concepts. With a good storyline, mature content showing how a husband and wife relationship grows. I am saying this cos I have noticed arrange marriage concepts getting most likes. For example : Ritzy's Vivaah, Sanjeevni's Opposite Attracts. And we still have 400+ members in our forum cos one ongoing story "Falling For You" by Jannat-Fictions has received 400+ likes which is on arrange marriage. So yep I know majority of readers prefer mature content. However there are audience like me who are open to all genre and like to read different concepts cos reading only romance becomes monotonous and I get bore.

Perhaps they identify with the strength that most writers show in Geet. Since a lot of our audience has been brought up with a certain culture (without assessing what is right and wrong) we all have limits to our behavior ingrained in us.

Maybe reading something bolder than that fine line that has been preset in us makes a person uncomfortable. Maybe that is not the story someone is looking for.

Might be. But if reading a bold story makes one uncomfortable and that is not a story they are looking for, shouldnt they stop reading it? Or they they have right to go in those threads and bash writers openly and send hate pms?

As a writer, there is satisfaction in exploring all avenues. It makes for a meaty story and characters. When a great evil or wrong has been fought by our heroine or hero, we feel the satisfaction deeply. It is a pleasure to write as there is something unshakeable in us when it comes to good versus evil.

Exactly, as a writer one would want to explore and try new concepts and genre and it is up to readers if they want to read it or not. So when a writer tries new thing and a reader who otherwise is not a fan of those concepts, why do they come and ask writers to change their plot or characters according to their liking? You don't like it don't read it.
As a reader, there is always resistance to change.
I understand. But it also wouldn't harm in trying to be open minded when they themselves choose to read a concept they don't like.

Biases are hard to overcome
I absolutely agree there. I have mostly seen biasedness amongst readers.

Dev Tara Sasha Tasha all are supposed to be evil. Daadima Maan Geet Adi Pinky always good. When a writer blurs the lines, the story is not accepted easily and I have seen the effects clearly.
And that where a reader has to see that when a writer plans and write a story they dont keep the same characterization shown in our GHSP show. It will be so easy for writers if only readers understands and allow that freedom to writers.

A real life example would be SRK. His movie Kabhi alvida na kehna although a fabulous movie, did not do well. Neither did Paheli. Again a good story. The audience could not connect to a married man having an affair or even a woman unknowingly fall for a spirit.

Extra marital affairs is something no audience have liked. But sadly our forum has accepted a cheater Maan and forced the writer to have MG ending up together in the last. But god forbid, Geet cheats on Maan then she is called names. And that I feel is hypocritical and also there comes gender inequality especially when we have girls, single and married woman in this forum. They can accept a flawed protagonist, protagonist turning antagonist but Geet should be flawless which I kind of find unreal. Cos I have given an example of myself. I am not perfect.
It is rare to find readers who want to explore new avenues with characters.
Yes. And when those rare readers get something new to read, the others will try their best in getting the writer to stop that story.

Perhaps that is the drawback of writing fan fictions versus actual fictions.
Agreed again. Writing fan fictions makes a reader to turn blind eye to all bad things done by their favorite character

As for the Casanova devil rapist characterization, it has always been a turnoff. Unless this type of character is not shown as being reformed and repenting, the story would leave a lot to be desired.
Sadly, I happend to read one story where Maan was rapist of Geet which came much later in the story. And I regret reading it so much. Cos I had wished to see him getting punished just like how Dev, Rahul or Arjun would have in his place. However he ended up getting married to his victim and receiving her selfless love. Only I know how disturbed I was after reading it.

Perhaps this was not the reply expected but since you made such a fabulous effort I thought to put my 2 cents in.

After all your analyses of my work, a chota sa on my part😉

No harm or offense meant to anyone.

Avi

Avi, thank you so much for posting your thoughts. I loved reading it and it was true. What you said in your post was one side of a coin, I gave you the other side as I have seen both.

My intention is simple, don't bash writers just cos you like their different concepts.

I'm more of a reader here but have written few things 1 of them being a part in Ghsp family ss started by Tanya aka Jannat Fictions and you recently. I don't know if you have noticed or not but there is something which surprised me. Mostly good writers like Tanya or Aish or you now have suffered lack of response from readers . It is really sad to see such amazing writers getting comparitively less response for their finely written stories. I have seen there are few writers who even after having inarticulate writings and weaker concepts are getting superb response than the former ones. I don't understand what is the parameters of readers to like or appreciate a story. They shower their love on poor stories which are written in poor language ( No OFFENCE MEANT TO ANYONE! ).

For me as a reader the parameter to like a story is it's concept, it's presentation, language, and writer's own grip and command over the story. Many times it happens a story has a great start but it goes haywire, you just can't find the head and tail of it( Yes, Sanju I'm referring to recent disaster as well ).

As long as the writer knows wot she/he has to do it's fone but sometimes it happens otherwise. So, if I lose interest in something I leave it as I definitely can't be untrue in my comment and I'm afraid my truthfulness might hurt writers so it's better to move on!

You see in IF unknowingly a category has formed of writers and readers. Some are exceptionally talented writers and some are not so good in the job but both have their readers, but sadly later ones get more appreciation and it can be seen in the Ghsp family ss. I just don't know why is that so! Is it that people want tooti footi language and typical indian tv dramas here?

I'm not being categoric here but it's a fact. Take Tanya's The Undeniable or The Inevitable, these 2 ffs are amazing and among the most brilliant concepts on MG over here but the response is low. At the same time there are a few ffs (I'm not taking name) which are poorly written with not so appealing concept but they are getting high appreciation. So it is extremely confusing what kind of work do readers want.

Now, coming to the matter of supporting characters. I'd not call them side characters since they aren't kept on side but they introduced to move the story further. They provide the momentum to the story. In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai or Dil Toh Pagal Hai or Border the characters played by Salman , Karishma or Suniel Shetty respectively weren't side but the 2nd lead roles ir supporting roles. Without them can these movies be imagined? No , they can't be! And let's take a most recent example. Can we imagine Tanu weds Manu without the character of PAPPI BHAIYA ?? Answer is a big NO ! Same way in ff or ss supporting cast is essential.

Lately, I've started reading a ff by sameera_12 " Badmaash Dill ". It is 1 of the finest ff over Geet forum. Her writing is not just articulate but very much reader friendly. The way she had been writing it's fantastic. The ff has almost a Suraj Barjatya style cast but the writer has such a strong grip that she's managing each and every character superbly! Initially, I complained to her that there isn't much of Maaneet but she said trust me you will like the story. And I just trusted her without any ifs and buts and I'm glad I did that.

Even though she's writing amazingly well but the response she's getting is disappointing. She has been writing same ff in Arsh version and there she's getting much more appreciation. So , the thing is it is a 2-way road not 1-way. Both readers and writers here have to communicate with each other to keep it going!

Woww good job anky I liked ur post here

But what I liked most, you raised a really big question, Infact I personally felt that there is some stories had been written in very professional language but still doesn't attract readers, I am not talking about what stories you had mentioned in ur comment, as I don't have any single idea about them... I am talking about some other stories.

Sometimes story had nothing, nor concept.. neither language but the emotions touch hearts ... this is what I felt about some stories... the story has one thing which is called life.

And sometimes a very professionally written story felt like... like so robotic, no emotions, I mean... you couldn't able to feel the cs pain in your heart.

I myself don't know... why it's happened... but it's happened
Some stories are mix of all kind of language but always maintain no.1 position in huge no. Of readers heart but other side a well planned stories had just few readers.

Maybe because simplicity and regular life stories with indian touch attract the most of the readers..
And sometimes emotions take over every single flaws of writer...

I don't know... what I blabbered above 😆
It's just you wrote a question which always bother me as well as amazed me

Sadly it seems people have a very warped sense of propriety when it comes to their actions. Your point is taken and correct too.

In the prologue itself I lost half my readership of The Locket because Dev and Geet were shown happy together. For every character that was introduced It was rejection after rejection but I was determined and like you, stubborn😆 to do it my way. It was my work and no one else's input mattered. I don't reason or bargain or negotiate with anyone. Nahi padhna hai toh mat padho. It hurt a bit at first but I am not made of wax to crumble so easily.

In fact my dearest friend here was bashed and told to go kill herself by a reader after MG split up in her story. Not only did I personally report the person but I got everyone together to give her a tongue lashing. Alas, mannerless people abound in all walks of life as we see here.

Writers who give of their time and efforts are severely undervalued. My entire writing is done after 11pm in addtion to working 6 days a week and living abroad without any servants or help. The Locket was over 1100 pages long. I have lost sleep for my passion of writing.

Sure there are the one word commenters with their awesome or good or no maaneet in this part. On the counter side we get someone like you too. For such readers, I would gladly write. 🤗

Hi...thanks you liked my view. My point is very clear, a story which has no concept, you can't find head and tail of it how can that garner more appreciation than a story which has every single thing in place even for once if we ignore the linguistic issue! Forget the mentioned stories, I give an example of Muskan's ffs...they are good, she hasn't exactly written them in a professional manner...but yet they rule GF... but some stories I've come across are pathetic in concept and even the language doesn't help so how come they are more liked? And simplicity isn't I'm talking about or denying. But as far as I have seen violent stories or some poorly adapted version of some regional movies aee more popular. Is it that IF has gone regional now!

Hi. Good Afternoon.

Well my post is mostly from a readers pov. I have started writing just a month ago. But the questions I have asked in my post have been nagging me since a year now. Never got the courage to come forward and ask it openly. But now that when I am friends with writers on personal level, I did ended up discussing their stories and characters with them and they have been really amazing showing equal enthusiasm responding to my honest views on their stories or characters. A comfort level has grown obviously and I dont mind being frank with them. Sometimes I just bash the grey characters for fun and they understand when I am serious or when I am kidding. Of course I came to know about the bad experience that I have shared in my post through them. Knowing that a writer was bashed simply cos she showed Geet moving on with her own husband did shocked me. I could never imagine that readers can be so obsessed with Geet's single status and hate her for having sexual relationship with her own husband hence I gathered some courage and posted this finally.

I understand what you said in point one. With me, I have ended up reading new stories when they are in the middle of it. So of course I get a good idea what the whole story is about and if they intrigued me, I waste no time in finishing it so that I can comment and follow it regularly. My experience with a story right from its start has been very less. There are already so many stories that are updated daily and cos of my habit of posting long comments, one or two hours easily passes without even realizing. That habit of mine has a backdrop since I dont have time to read new stories. I have missed reading some really amazing piece of writing. And then I have friends on FB who suggest me good old stories of MG that again I dont have time to read new ones. That one thing alone makes me wish I were on Geet Forum right from the start.

@Point 2 : I agree, subplots makes the story more interesting. There was time when I used to read stories only for MG. But once I started understanding the characters, I have grown up myself. I became open minded, I started giving long detailed comments and mostly importantly the character's misdeeds helped me a lot to set my own firm perspective. Maybe I have been unlucky that most of the stories I read has playboy Maan and selfless Geet who loves him unconditionally which now makes me run from such concepts.

@point 4 : Thank you so much for saying that. I am myself a very proud girl so I really dont tolerate shit thrown my way. I believe in giving it back equally. No matter who the person is. I love Maan as much as others do. But if you show him doing wrong things to Geet even if it's a mere fiction then I would only request for a justice to Geet's character as well. Fine I understand he is a protagonist so he can't be send to jail for raping Geet, but at least be practical enough to now show Geet falling for her rapists. Cos no way in hell a girl can accept ir forgive her criminal let alone fall in love with him for ruining her entire life. I love to read dark stories but when they go overboard it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. All I can say is we are woman ourselves, so at least dont show a protagonist raping our female lead. It's obviously a request and I am not forcing anyone to follow it.

Thank you for posting your views Lynn.

-Sanjana!

Heyy,

I agree with you, It is so difficult to search for any new MG stories on IF, and if u do find its either half written on IF and half on Blog (Private) or it will be fully on Blog. And most Writers have Private Blogs which makes it even more difficult to access it.

I didn't know you were a Writer too..I would love to read your stories, please do PM me your Index so I can look through your stories. The only MG Writer I'm currently following is Jannat-Fictions and I'm obsessed with her stories. I would love to read MG stories from different Writers too, so please do send me a link to your Index.

For me any character that Maan and Geet holds in a story is acceptable
whether one of both of them are arrogant or rude or even a killer I just enjoy reading different stories that holds their different characters
yes I would comment if they playing with a person emotions but never pick on the actual character .

Actually I love all dark and shady stories , bold and adventurous too
the only time I really complain is when I read a FF that says Geet is innocent and innocence is acceptable by me but when the writer turns a innocent Geet into been someone stupid then that is not innocence
yes with innocence goes perhaps some humor and silly or unexplained questions and answers .
I've some time last year read an FF where a writer has turned the innocence into something so abnormal that
the entire story was a total flop and the writer too had just stopped in the middle of the story .

I have no problems with Geet been arrogant or rude or even a prostitute , for me every story holds a different character of both Maan and Geet and true if its only these two dating without having any other partners then every story would be the same monotonous pattern. so yeah side characters enhances the story and usually carve a path for both Maan and Geet .

When I start reading a story or every update I do press Like and comment also I'm always very late , but never leave the story midway .

Recently I've just read a story on revenge where Maan is full blown in his revenge and not even five updates later he has already a 360 degrees change while Geet been highly educated now has also turned into some comedian and this was only the start of the story many people started complaining but I thought maybe again after few more updates the story will go back on track but it then turn into a full blown romantic story and this was suppose be a revenge story so the writers also should be aware
that their stories flow whether they add twist into it which really brings in more spice into the story but going totally off the concept is not acceptable and true then those type of stories I do tend
to leave but after informing the writer and also apologizing that I cannot stay on to read their story

I am actually happy to see that there are readers like you who are open to all genre. Reading only romance and that too only btw MG does become monotonous sometimes. So yeah adding other characters in their life spice up the story and then I totally enjoy MG's journey of coming together. Such stories are as amazing as reading about MG dating each other right from the start.

Flow and steadiness in a story does matter and I have anyway become quite picky about the concepts I read on. But you know mistakes do happen when one writer does not know where to take the story. Or when they are going through writer's block.

Thank you for commenting.

You know, I will give you another side here. There is one writer in our forum who has outstanding command over English and her writing is no less than a professional author. She even communicates with her readers but still the response on her stories are the lowest I would say.

Coming to the poor writing part. There was time when I suggested one writer's story to my FB friends, they came back to me saying they couldnt get past more than 2 updates cos the language was too hard to comprehend. So you see there are readers who like to read stories with simple English and dont go for a correct one. Sad but true.

Responses on poor writing stories, all I can say is, it is good that readers have given them chance and encouraged them as well. Cos there are few who might not go for presentation or a particular style of writing but, they do have good stories and concepts to tell. So why not support them? Wouldn't it be unfair that readers starts reading those stories which are perfect in all sense? If it doesnt matter to one about the poor writing, to each his own I would say.

About family ff. Well the problem was it had more than one writer. So obviously, every writer has different perception, different way of seeing the characters and different style of writing and presenting it. So not everyone could understand it and we of course failed in it. But it's okay, it was something Tanya tried to do to keep the forum going and have new writers pouring in. In that sense she succeeded.

@bold: Same. I dont comment if I dont like something cos I am afraid my honesty would hurt the writer. Rather than discouraging them with my comments I choose to leave it too. Cos you know if one writers has 100 readers and each of them praise the update but only 1 reader say they didn't like the update then that one comment stays forever. Those 100 praises are forgotten but 1 honest critism stays which I avoid to do.

About the rest of your comment, frankly speaking even I dont know why good and out of the box concepts are not acceptable by the readers here. Maybe dqno1 comment can answer your confusion. Cos I personally love all type of concepts and read it with open mind.

Badmaash Dill is truly one of the best ongoing FFs but yes sadly the story is not getting the deserved response. And if you see the views of her thread then they are sky high. So even though some may have read it they obviously haven't commented on it.

Exactly each work is fiction so why get riled up that Geet becomes player? Yet it's cool that Maan has a female fan following trailing behind him.😉

Sadly I'm included in list that putting fear of Casanova Maan with IS😆But comments are amusing for that one. Now that Nazia is involved, Geet should forgive Maan.
Some forget that she was humiliated in front of so many people, he'd called the woman he loved a f**k he enjoyed, some forget that she'd only changed her clothes however she was the same woman beneath all that make up and clothes and they say she's played her part in betraying him 😆she's watched him playing naked with another woman, yet she continued to trust him right down to when she'd lost her baby.

Anyways he's getting his due.😆

That is what I don't understand, I really don't mind being critisized for making this character this way and that, but what puts me on edge is when readers abuse the characters.
Bash them in a way where's it's not so offensive and low. Like Geet being called wh**e or sl*g or s**tty, I don't appreciate it at all. Because that's just wrong on so many levels with me, it just makes me uncomfortable and I do feel apprehensive of such readers wondering what they're going to call my characters now.

Call her a bitch, ass, idiot or whatever etc I don't mind. Sometimes girls can be cold bitches, I know I am😆Heck this is the most that anyone calls Maan.
I don't mind them being bashed, but sworn in such low words is just a complete no no.

I feel offended with Geet being sworn like that, because I live in a society where girls are tagged and so judged easily without reason, why is a easily girl judged on the way she looks, dresses and acts, what's worse is they're saying it all behind her back and spreading rumours. As a woman I feel terribly bad for her, It's her life to do as she pleases. Why is she being downgraded for livin her own life? Why aren't men called man wh**es as easily a woman is called a sl*g. So such words are just so wrong for me even if it's fiction.

Tanya, I came to read your stories much much later. By then the fear of having unrepentant Maan had settled in me. And in IS you promised that he will be getting his due and that is what I like more about your stories. That being fair to your female leads has made me fall for your stories more.
