So I assume using the word characterless would be a better option going by these standards. If a writer is uncomfortable then I believe they should set a code of conduct for the readers who comment coz I will again repeat that referring a character as something does not mean that a reader isn't liking the story it is just that they have their opinions about the characters...and as far as Tanya as concerned she can definitely open up to me with that...I may not be her bff but I have been a loyal reader and have seen her grow as a writer so I don't see any problems opening up to someone who you share a somewhat comfort zone with! Henceforth I would want to request writers to please let readers know that they won't appreciate certain words rather than feeling offended and upset!
Okay for starters this was a thread where I shared my view in general, it was to do with gender biasedness and by the way Sanjana doesn't have to speak for me. She's given view generally. Like I've said to you in fb posts, your comments are harsher towards geet than Maan.
If you go back to revival, you'd hoped Maan has an excuse/explanation for cheating on Geet even if it wasn't justifiable. You didn't happen to call him anything there, not even throughout the ss.
And in Collide geet was called a sl*g, s**t whatever else for sleeping with men even before she was with Maan.
I'd only pointed out about being biased, believe me being a writer for 3 years I've come to know my readers a little through comments. You can't not say you're not biased, because me being a reader of readers comments I'd say you are. I could give you home example, innocently seduced examples, Tum meri ho examples. I don't in any way mean to offend you but I'm just pointing out since we've known each other as writer and reader I'm being open. I don't say such stuff where it's going to hurt readers, I let these comments slide past but that doesn't mean I'm happy with them.
As for putting notes for coc why would I post such a note when you've really been the only reader to call her such words. I happen to put indirect notes hoping readers would understand, I've always asked one to be open minded with my stories and characters. I've said it numerous times if you don't like characters then please feel free to read stories where you do read a story where characters and stories are likeable.
I've even said it to you the other day if a reader bashes characters throughout entire story then what is the point of reading story, I'd also mentioned I don't need readers to remind me how much one hates characters throughout the entire ff because I feel throughout the whole ff I've not been able to progress characters or show them in a different light.
Like in Come Undone, you happen to bring Geet's characterization from Collide and that hurts, I feel as if I've not shown progression in her. I feel discouraged despite many attempts of showing her strong, independent etc her past has been brought up.
And the saying, one does not recall the satisfied comments of readers but one dissatisfied comment is remembered. That goes for me and that is a flaw of mine which I know but I'm not afraid or worried to admit it. The saying I would say goes for quite a few writers in IF.
