Also character being abused isn't equivalent to writer being bashed nor does that mean that readers aren't liking the story...I have read all of Tanya's stories n I have loved them...I may not like some characters but haven't bashed her ever coz why would anyone bash her even if they don't like the story so for me it's different. I hope we all agree to disagree :-)

You might not have a problem but a writer might feel uncomfortable. So shouldnt a reader avoid using such words? After all we are posting our comments on their threads and the least we could do is respect their request. Thats all.

you give advise but u are not following i dont want to rgue what ever u wrote is right but u never commented when i wrote on ghsp family first time though u yourself wrote there and u comented each and every updates except mine one so i dont belive u didnt read it bt u kept silent, to be frank i donmt know u alsoi i started to know u from ghsp family ff , so it is easy to give advice but difficult to follow in own life, i wrote first time, and then i had realised people are only prasing few writers and only coment on them they dont wants new writer to write stories, i am not offended as even if one person dont read i dont care i wrote for my setisfection and non gf members had apreciated my writing in personal message as they dont belongs to anyforum and not reading this stories only i ask their opnion and they encourage me, though i am not type of person keep grudge on person, there are some writers i comment regularly even they dont reply for my quetions i see them as an person who are contributing somthing for some one not like who dont give anything but needs everything...so one thing i had realised tunde tunde mati bhinna...every human is diffrant and one cant force them to do things onecan request but cant force and one thing in real i think there are not many reader lefts for mg forums, for ex ghsp family ff came to drastic end as there are no readers ,or very very few readers left ,then also i gave update for my satisfection that we started somthing then accept chalanges and finish it dont live halfway...and i wrote it though the previous update has killed the very well layed plot but it is challange for writers or any newbie to explore their creatibvity and it is fun, on straight road it is very easy to drive but patchy road needs patient and if tthat patient if readers and writers bith shows they can come up with amazing product team work is very important in everyday life as well as in this forum also.thanks- and sorry if i had hurt anybodies feelings-and sory for mistakes as i havent edited this.
and about maan being ruthless ,and in anyform accepted by readers but not geet why...
then let me tell u one thing go back to history, our culture man can keep many women, they can have mistress ,they can get marry after women die but women should be always pure and pavitra and sanskari as as per our culture women is the main pionear of our kutumb system, our religion, sghe is giving good morals and athicks to children and follow all religious rituals, she is the one call as mother who has big contribution to keep family respect intect, and our socity, not only of hindu, but even western socity will not alove prostitute to be wife and mother of chldren and family, it is our socity's perception towards women, and no body will acept charecterless women to marry and expanding their family avalues and morals, where as man used to count main bread earner of socity if he do somthing wriong he will not become pregnant, so no body will know his wrong doing, and if he keeps many women his ego increases and he is called real macho man, his all crime forgivable, he can hit women, rape women, marital rape all things happening behind doors but men is not at fault in all condition women is ar fault and to change that perception we need to change socity's percewption towards women, and to be frank women is bugestenemy of women and she will be the first one who will throw out slirt women from their house.

Since you have asked for my opinion on your update in GHSP family ff then here it goes.

1) I am not someone who would hurt anyone with my honest views. I rather avoid criticizing their writing.

2) I dont know how you saw family ff Maan but, I saw him as some intelligent, smart person and ruthless businessman. So when you updated with Samara using him for her own benefits I couldn't connect with that update. So I chose to avoid commenting on it cos it was your first attempt at writing. Rather than discouraging you with my honesty I preferred to be quite and let you enjoy the praises coming from other readers.

3) Samara being a model is a very usual and common track which didn't appeal to me hence didn't comment at all.

4) You are not the only one on whose update I didn't comment on that ff. I didn't comment on many updates cos I didn't like the update. Before you and after you as well there have been many times so get your facts right first.

5) GHSP ff family was ruined far before cos there was simply no steadiness in characters. Every writer came and gave their own characteristics and behavior to the main leads that made the whole story go haywire. I am not sure if you realized that or not but I did. Hence I completely quit reading on it and commenting as well. After sanghita0000 update I didn't read any. The I read was Tanya's that too cos I got the link from FB.

I hope that answers your question.

Coming to the rest of your comment. All I could say is this is 21st century so wake up and smell the coffee. We are no more living in the history. Come back to present. What men did in history is nowhere related to what they do now. So keep that history and culture in your pocket. There were many men who believed in one woman concept as well. So why turn blind eye to that fact and come up with men having mistresses, remarriage and divorcing stuff. And who told you that in history women didn't remarried?

Another thing stop saying "our society" perception this and that. No. I do not belong to that society where a woman is looked down up. I do not belong to a society where it is okay to rape, abuse and cheat on woman.

Today women are not some sacrificial lamb anymore. They have become selfish too and know when and how to stand for their ownself. So please keep that backward mindset of yours to yourself. Dont give me the facts about history, talk about present.

Prostitutes cant have a family and a kid but a po*nstar can, right? A po*nstar, Sunny Leone is being accepted, loved and desired by INDIANS. She is being voted as the number 1 "Most Desirable Woman" by Indians in a poll? So please tell me what culture are we living in now? Isn't this sheer hypocrisy by Indians then? And yes, this is coming from another Indian.

After knowing your mindset, I can't help but ask you few questions. Do answer me.

1) How did you ended up watching GHSP where a 18 year girl is shown pregnant, fight against the injustice done to her and her unborn by her OWN family, comes to metro city, lives on her own terms, works and is independent and hell later falls for a man, marries her love who is the brother of a man who got her pregnant?

2) When our CVs were bold enough, as after knowing about your backward mindset I do find our shows' concept bold, why can't readers be open minded to bold concepts?

3) Reading yours thoughts I am giving you a situation. Suppose Geet was married to Dev. It is a love marriage. Dev later starts abusing her, cheats on her, rapes her. What should Geet do? And most importantly WHY?

Thanks for dropping in. Got to know there are people in today's world but still living in the history.

So I assume using the word characterless would be a better option going by these standards. If a writer is uncomfortable then I believe they should set a code of conduct for the readers who comment coz I will again repeat that referring a character as something does not mean that a reader isn't liking the story it is just that they have their opinions about the characters...and as far as Tanya as concerned she can definitely open up to me with that...I may not be her bff but I have been a loyal reader and have seen her grow as a writer so I don't see any problems opening up to someone who you share a somewhat comfort zone with! Henceforth I would want to request writers to please let readers know that they won't appreciate certain words rather than feeling offended and upset!

Bang On Sanjana! We (Tanya & I ) have been waiting for you to speak up here. And I IMMENSELY APPRECIATE your revert. The chick truly needed a reality check ans a wake up call. Her thoughts are ridiculous and it is because of such peers and their stupid mindset that India is still struggling to get over such situations. Good answer Sanjana, much appreciated!

You know, I will give you another side here. There is one writer in our forum who has outstanding command over English and her writing is no less than a professional author. She even communicates with her readers but still the response on her stories are the lowest I would say.

Coming to the poor writing part. There was time when I suggested one writer's story to my FB friends, they came back to me saying they couldnt get past more than 2 updates cos the language was too hard to comprehend. So you see there are readers who like to read stories with simple English and dont go for a correct one. Sad but true.

Responses on poor writing stories, all I can say is, it is good that readers have given them chance and encouraged them as well. Cos there are few who might not go for presentation or a particular style of writing but, they do have good stories and concepts to tell. So why not support them? Wouldn't it be unfair that readers starts reading those stories which are perfect in all sense? If it doesnt matter to one about the poor writing, to each his own I would say.

About family ff. Well the problem was it had more than one writer. So obviously, every writer has different perception, different way of seeing the characters and different style of writing and presenting it. So not everyone could understand it and we of course failed in it. But it's okay, it was something Tanya tried to do to keep the forum going and have new writers pouring in. In that sense she succeeded.

@bold: Same. I dont comment if I dont like something cos I am afraid my honesty would hurt the writer. Rather than discouraging them with my comments I choose to leave it too. Cos you know if one writers has 100 readers and each of them praise the update but only 1 reader say they didn't like the update then that one comment stays forever. Those 100 praises are forgotten but 1 honest criticism stays which I avoid to do.

About the rest of your comment, frankly speaking even I dont know why good and out of the box concepts are not acceptable by the readers here. Maybe dqno1 comment can answer your confusion. Cos I personally love all type of concepts and read it with open mind.

Badmaash Dill is truly one of the best ongoing FFs but yes sadly the story is not getting the deserved response. And if you see the views of her thread then they are sky high. So even though some may have read it they obviously haven't commented on it.

-Sanjana!

@Bold1: I agree and understand that there is a complete range of reader who prefer inarticulate language which is really sad because due to this writers who write in good comprehensible language get very disappointing response. I agree people may have difficulty in comprehending but then I have come across a reader who told me that IF had helped her in improving her English both written and verbal, so isn't it nice that people are not just getting entertainment but learning as well! My point is writers with good English should also be treated equally and they must get their due recognition and acclamation!

@bold2: I'm not overruling the ffs which has good story line but are written using vernaculars or inarticulate English/language. I myself have read few stories which were not up to the mark in the language department but the story line was good and I have appreciated the work as well. If the story line has potential it should be given a chance but my point is a ff which has no story no concept and have linguistic problem are garnering more appreciation which is very surprising.

@bold3: I completely agree here! I'm glad Tanya dared to experiment something like this. I had personally appreciated her effort but obviously it was sad to see the way the ff has led. But obviously we can't stop poor ideas to be written down in an open ff.

@bold3: Exactly, there can not be any perfect answer to this question. Few writers here try and experiment with concept and when they don't get good response either they abandon the story or move it to the blog which is a big loss to readers and IF.

If someone is trying to move out of the league and experimenting something than that person should be given a fair chance else the talent will go wasted if the writer stops writing!

Badmaash Dill is a ff I'm in complete love with. I really wish that writer writes more MG stories.

I hope I have made myself clear that I'm not criticizing poorly written stories or raising linguistic issues but I'm raising something which is a known fact here. Good stories be it in good or bad language must get equal appreciation if not higher than the stories with have nothing in them!

Ok now this is a highly heavy topic and usually i refrain myself from taking part since I prefer the jolly and naive side of me. But that being said, i have also been brought up to stand by what i believe in and me being a feminist doesn't help either lol.

Firstly apologies, the writers not getting their due credit is a huge problem I've come to realise in my short arrival here and although i joined in 2012 but i became an active member early this year/late last year. So I'm SORRY but i had my reasons,
  1. first and foremost online grooming- i heard it all and didn't want to be part of it, dont get me wrong, im strong and in that sense alert but still didn't want none of it (pervert just creep me out- watched alot of crime watch in my time) since i also realise im naive and innocent. In high school there were posters every where about the subject and some of my friends were also targetted hence i think its valid. i was young when i joined
  2. I wanted to maintain anomalous hence i liked being the secret individual but i broke this act of mine for Avi's Locket and then realised how much it hurts the writers so making up for that really by commenting in all FF's that i read now but unfortunately most of the writers have gone like Dia, Laxmi and some others that i read in my early arrivals
  3. I know point 2 is quite shallow but in my defence i wasn't exactly here for 2-3 years due to exams and life itself.

Now coming to the other problem, gender equality. I actually made a profile for this one ff and you needed to be member for it. It was based on the concept of child marriage, i think and then Maan marrying Sam and straight out rejecting Geet who was formally his wedded wife. I liked the storyline and wanted to be part of it, naturally. But then i didnt like the characteristation of geet, it was almost as if she's forcing herself to a man who rejected her. I didn't like how she stood by him even after he mistreated her and then him getting closer to her just because Sam wasn't giving him attention. So i stopped reading when i had enough, i felt that this Geet had no self respect or pride, just my thought. I'm not into forced reading, Forced Love is the only forced thing i do lol. I can't read somthing i don't agree with, hence now if i come across a story i liked but then later discovered i dont like it no more then i try to focus on the postitivies and comment only on that, not wating to hurt the writer and then eventually give up silently if things dont pick up.

My journey on GF continued reading adaptations of similar stories where Geet loves Maan since childhood and Maan loves another, for me Geet waiting serveral years while Maan is enjoying his life, wasn't acceptable. In clear words, i didn't like it what so ever. The question always popped into my head what if the partner never died or left, then Maaneet would have never been together hence in those circumstances i always preferred Geet to move on. Initailly i thought this may be a cultural difference, in the west we don't pin our hopes on one guy and there's a saying there's plenty more fish in the sea. But then that being said i came across You and Me Collide by Jazz i think and i loved this story even with Maaneet not ending up together, for me its the character and how deserving they are for each other. Dont get me wrong i love a happy ending and Maaneet happy equals me happy but not at the cost of right and wrong. Then i came across Saaya (Dia), Falling for you (Jannatfiction) and more recently It takes two (Kawaii_geet). i'm a sucker for arranged marriage so i naturally get pulled that way. But these stories were inspiring, i liked the fact that even after a huge set back Geet never gave up and gained an eduation and focused on her career which i can relate to since i'm so into making it big in this world lol. Well at least into eduaction and then maybe make myself successful in my career. Back to the stories, yes in the end Maan was respecting and encouraging but Geet for me was the focus point. Hence i loved all them. Falling for you and Saaya are such innocent plots and simple stories but realistic.

The mention of a rapist, abusive and volatile Maan is unacceptable for me. I have a broad mind but for Geet to forgive this crime is in itself, especially if he hasn't shown any redemption or at least what i can accet logically anyway. Me being a Big Drashti Dhami i followed her to the other show but stopped afterwards, believe it was hard but i just couldn't imagine a girl who would forgive a man who played, used, humiliated and then handcuffed her. Then the junior story was far worse, with her being raped. It was far beyond the line for me. So according to if the main character does such heinous crime then he should be made to pay up for it. i believe in a simple saying 'if you've done the crime then you must do the time'. Also rapist just tops the scale so i avoid such concepts. However i did read Dreams (by i dont know who), this for me was a first but in the end i did end up happy with Maaneet being togther, i dont know why. Frankly speaking it was one of the first FF's i read so was very naive but for me at that time i thought he paid for his sins through guilt and then separation. Obviosuly now, if i were to read it again i may change my opinion. i dont really know. Rescuing Heaven would be a more recent but different story that I'm reading, no Maan here is a gem of a person but someone who chose his country before love. I still dont know whether i like that or hate it, but dont love it for sure especially considering its aftermath. Although i dont blame him for it, but still as of now don't have it in my heart to forgive even after his heroic rescue. But i still love this Maan but not for Geet until he apologises properly anyway.

Coming to a bold, outspoken, carefree Geet. Well like most other readers i dont mind reading about such Geets. But the problem with me is i dont read behind the bedroom door scenes. I prefer my mind to be pollution free, as it is i read kissing scene which is a step too far but being here made me 'Besharam' as you lot would say it lol. Hence bold Geet would equal to Bold scene's so again i ignore such stories with high chances of all of that, can't name it sorry. But i like differences in characters and i think most readers do: I did an independent Geet who fights her own battles and doesn't need a knight to save her yet with Into the dark, yes i think i've bored my readers with the late entry of Maan but still they stuck by, at least the loyal ones did. Then it was Transport love, a bimbo, heiress Geet which i personally loved since most my friends fall into that category and then a timid and scared Geet with Forced Love. All Maans are also different in these FF's from hurted to flirt to evil and dark. Hence as a reader and on behalf of many readers i would like to say most of us like a variety and some readers are really encouaging as well, so thank you. However I love independant and in control Geet. Since i'm like that so i agree that reference point is crucial, most readers want to identify themselves with Geet and that is understandable. So naive, innocent and witty Geet's I love.

Side characters, i dont mind. Locket (Avi) i read every single update and personally liked the stories of other chacacters mainly Dev-Naina, Meghna and Methili

But the most shocking thing was HATE MAILS and i thought it was all rosy here, this actually scared me but so far my readers have been really understanding and i love them for that. I dont understand why anyone would do that, if you dont like something ignore and move on. Ignorance is a bliss- so readers ignore FF's you dont like and writers ignore negtive feedback, dont let it stop you from telling your story. But that been said do not get bullied into doing things you wouldn't do otherwise. Seriously spooked out with the HATE MAILS don't make no sense to me.

Lastly thank you Sanjana (i dont know if you would like me being first name basis, sorry if you don't) for such a important issue. Gender equality and writers freedom should be supported and not supressed. If Shakepaeres wasn't shut down for Romeo and Juliet (not a happy ending) or Merry Shelly's Frankenstien for unethical plots then our writers too should be given the chance to build their story according to their like.

A big, big thanks to all writers for you all I started reading normal novel's and came across my fav PS. I love you and Shopaholic series, credit goes to the Maaneet FF's since it started from here or else i did most assignments watching the movies lol.

ps. please dont take offense of anything i said, i generally dont like making anyone upset so sorry but i simply referred to myself as a girl and what i expect from society. Sorry i did waffle on abit.

Enjoy the long week ahead
P double S. lol - sanjana are you an physiology student, its interesting how you're trying to understand the mentality and general thought process of the audience. I would love to give your story a try but before that I have a reading list, so sorry it'll be on hold for a while and I concur to the message above live and let live, also have a great week
P treble S. Sorry its really long but Women or Girl power is taken seriously in my household

Hello Sanjana,
Thanks for this wonderful post...
Well agree with ur view...
Well the point or say problem mention here r common n almost every Writers r facing it ...
First now I got one thing don't ask for like n comment.as few of readers ( non silent busy) they r super busy ...we r here doing our duty only...don't beg for likes n comments , if they ( non silent busy) want they will comment if not then they will not...FF may be good best from their plot or characterization or anything but it's readers wish ...to read it...
2.Readers some times giving comments sometimes not well mood swing they r having...kab kya kare...u want logic u will not ...u will feel helpless with this less likes n comments ...

3. Gender equality is not here for maan -geet
like example one of my FF Geet is modern rude gray shade little n m getting less likes less comments.that I have to finish it quickly
one FF Maaneet having live in relationship .I got bashing msg for myself n GEET...
another thing virginity for Geet needed for maan ...what is this with virginity ...n then if not then non readers start questioning character of writers ...

now about want only Mg scene n love moments n if not then got pms from non readers...
Another FF Maan Geet lost their child n there is 1-2 ud sad going n one non readers send me pm about how could sad uds going on ? y can't I chuck it out n show happy uds...
after Miscarriage a parents should forget pain n show happy lovey moments what an Idia I got from my non readers
when I replied I can't compromise with my FF n uds
she said about my character then about my son...
this is the thing we writer got from here so called non readers

Now coming trying different genre how...we want to try want to write about new thing about Maaneet but we r not able n all thanks cause of low response...there is only one thing here need rude ruthless business man vs innocent naive woman basss hogaya...no chance of doing any experiment...

Writers shouldn't asked about motivation cause if u love maaneet u have to write n if u don't get likes n comments then also write... n
if u show Geet is good then u r tag with something if u show Maan is good then u r tag with something else..
it's too much complication there ...

I don't know my post make any sense here... but I tried to make my point here n once again thanks ..
