Maan: should I tell her about mom's brilliant idea of honeymoon?
Nahi nahi... Maan tak toh boli aaj takk... Honeymoon ka naam sunn k toh baat karna hi band kar degi...

Maan: you... You didn't sleep yet...? Don't disturb me... Get lost
And before the mind could retort his cell rang up... It was on the TV table far from where he was sitting currently and Maan ran to his cell knowing well it's his sweetheart calling.
He picked the phone up instantly and spoke up in urgency... They didn't speak last night due to her cell coming engaged (she was talking to mom na... remember)
Maan: hello
But no reply came... So Maan looked into the cell if the call was still on and it's Geet only the other side...
Maan: hello Geet... Kuchh bolo
Geet: woo... Aapse kuchh baat karni hai.
Maan: haan bolo Geet...
At other times he could have teased her... But since she sounded worried n nervous he spared her for now...
Geet: woo kal aap free hai kya?
She said very slowly... She is hell nervous about what's in her mind... Upon that she didn't know how to break that to him in the most decent way
Maan: kya baat hai?
Geet: woo aapke saath kahin jana tha...
Maan(st): is she thinking to take me out on a date? And why didn't that come to my mind? 😒
Heart: that idea can come to u only if u have tax out of your mind. 😳
Maan: not a word abt tax...
Geet: Ji... Aapne kuchh kaha..?
Maan(st): did I say it loud
Heart: 😛
Maan: huh... Nothing, at what time?
Geet: at noon... Maybe 12:30.
Maan(st): noon me date... Seriously? Maybe something cooking... Anyway I can't refuse her... Can I ?
Maan: at your service ma'am
He said teasingly... She blushed a bit, but was still nervous and didn't reply... So Maan continued.

He spotted her and ran towards the table...
Geet. Ye kya hai... Itni late karr di we have an appointment do you realise?
Maan: sorry really sorry... Client came at the last moment... I couldn't just leave.
Wait... What appointment...
Geet: erm... Wo kuchh nahi... Let's go
Maan: where are we going...?
Geet: Let's go you will know yourself.
Now he was done using his brain... She was behaving weird since last night... Already he was late so decided not to add fuel in fire and follow her quietly...

Geet: for a blood test.

He frantically checked her forehead and neck for temperature... And sighed after finding it normal.
Geet: I am fine...
Nurse: Miss Geet.
Geet: yes here...
She signaled her and nurse collected their blood samples... He too obliged anyway he wasn't getting why all this for...
Nurse: reports will come tomorrow... Doctor wants to meet you both personally
After collecting the blood samples the nurse said... And left.
They were now sitting in doctor's cabin...
Doc: Mr khurrana and Ms handa...
All I want to say is I am glad to know you...
Our society is full of educated people... But proper broad mentality is still lacking... And you are the first couple I have seen taking such step... It's my honor to meet you guys in person... I myself being a doctor never thought of that...
The doctor kept on praising them, Geet was little embarrassed, but his words made her feel better... But in all this poor Maan was hell confused.
Maan(st): what is he saying and what is all this... Neither Geet told me what is all this about and now the doctor is so much praising.
Geet: thank you so much doctor... Now we shall take a leave.
Doctor: ya sure carry on... And all the best for your future...

And they took a leave from doctor...

They were back to the cafe again sitting on the same table... Maan was expecting her to say something about and she was all silent... Not knowing how to say about it...
Maan: may I know what the matter actually is??
He was quite frustrated with her not speaking just sitting looking at the ground as it is the most interesting thing in the world.
Maan: fine I am leaving... If you feel like I should know about it then call me...
And he got up to leave else he would bust out his frustration on her... And that may not be good.
Geet: nahi nahi... Mai bata rahi hu na...
He twitched his brows like saying "really?" and she nodded in yes... He sat back on his seat and collecting his composure said...
Maan: Geet we are partners... There shouldn't be secrets between us... I want to know about all this not because I don't trust you... But whatever happens in our life should involve both of us...
She nodded... And decided to say it out... And know what he thinks about it.
She took a deep breath in, closed her eyes and...
Geet: the blood test was to check if anyone of us is HIV positive...
She blurted out fast and opened her eyes to see his reaction.
He looked stunned... For a moment then mixed reactions, she couldn't fathom...
She got hell nervous of what he will think about her... What if he feels offended or something... She got really scared...
Geet: this has always been in my mind since I heard of one of our close family friends suffering all throughout life and then meeting a painful death...
It was just as a precaution... Pls say something...
She was in verge of crying seeing him not saying anything...
Maan: why did u not tell me about it before?
He looked hurt.
Slight tears burned her eyes... She looked down, not knowing where this was heading, bug she wanted to clear her stand first...
Geet: I didn't know how to say it to you decently... Was not able to form proper words... Also didn't have courage... I'm sorry
She confessed honestly looking down not meeting his eyes...
His expressions immediately softened, which she missed...
Maan(st): ohh god!!! what went into me, that I thought she's doubting me... Such a dumb I am...!! Here she is thinking for our better future and I am all lost in my mis-conceptions...
While he was thinking all this... Geet was waiting for his reply, which never came... She looked up at him... He was in thoughts...
Which she misunderstood as anger, hurt... She held his hand in hers and pressed a bit to get his attention...
Geet: I'm really sorry... Didn't intend to hurt you... It just happened... I know I should have told you about this before but couldn't gather enough courage... Many things came to my mind... And I... I...
Maan: ssshhh...
He stopped her by keeping his palm on her mouth...
Maan: abb mai bolunga Aur tum sunogi...
She nodded in yes... She was already very much guilty and above that scarred...!!
He removed his hand from her face, held her hand in his, took a deep breath and started speaking.
Maan: Geet... Today I want to confess something honestly...
Their eyes locked at that moment... to understand more than just the words...
Maan: that day when u were crying on your friends break-up, I thought our relation will never be such where husband and wife are equal... There will always be this difference of maturity...!
He paused a bit to let her mind register and understand all of it...
Maan: from the very start I knew we are not a normal couple... And the age gap adding to it!!
And till today I believed that I will always have to take a lead, make decisions for us...!
He paused again for a second... She was deeply into all he was saying...
Maan: but today I am glad to be proved wrong... I'm happy to know that even I can depend on you to take some decision for us at times of need... That we are going to share an equal portion of responsibilities and we can equally depend on each other.
Thank you Geet... Thank you for coming in my life and completing it... I...
At that moment his cell rang breaking their trance...

Maan left her hand immediately like a caught thief and picked his cell... It was from office, he got busy in instructing them...
And Geet was still in the magical moment... She knew it from the beginning that what she is thinking is correct... But his words made her proud on herself and her decision... She never thought or expected her fiancee to support her in this... Until she knew it is none other than Maan... And his soft behaviour towards her all this days gave her enough courage to take this step...
She was lost thinking all this... When she heard him...
Maan: Geet chale... Late ho raha hai...
She nodded and they left the cafe...
Today was a big day for them... They moved a step ahead together in their journey to be a better life-partner for each-other... And maybe the first time wen teacher learnt a lesson in Paathshala...!!!

Days were passing fast with all the shopping and marriage preparations...
It was just 5 days for the marriage and that morning Maan suddenly broke the news of going abroad to Aavnatika... he had been very scarred of the reaction, but then he had to!!!

Saying that she left, he knew she was angry.. But also knew she will be fine by the time he is back.
Maan: babaji kaha fassa diya...!!! Geet toh I can handle but how to convince hitler sasurji...???
Now think Maan... mom ne final ultimatum diya hai.
He got ready and left for Handa Villa... the flight is scheduled this very evening.. He cannot delay to talk to Geet and sasurji.
Maan was standing in front of Mr. Handa... Hell nervous to speak up...
Mr. Handa: yes son... something urgent.
Maan: ji... Papaji need your permission... Actually...
And he briefed his situation... and waited eagerly for the verdict, like a small child asking permission for school picnic from his dad, sadly Maan never had such a feeling before, it was different for him.
Mr. Handa looked at his face and smiled... he stood up and came near Maan and patted his shoulder.
Mr. Handa: its ok beta... work is also important... you carry on... But make sure you return before the rituals start.
Maan was stunned to hear this... Then happy, he had expected him all red faced and angry, but he was cool about it... wow, now only I need to tell Geet.
Maan: yes... I'm leaving today evening and returning tomorrow by night.
Mr. Handa: take care son.
Maan nodded... he was feeling choaked with his care... never in his life he had such a relation with a man who is called a father, who understands him and stands by him silently saying "you go ahead, I am behind you to hold you whenever you need me"
Maan: I will take you a leave.
Maan said and left the room... He composed himself and msged Geet to come to garden, he needs to convey her about the trip.
It was 10 minutes he was done telling her his side of story... but he said nothing just sat showing her back to him...
He thought she needs some time but still she was silent so he moved towards her and stood before her...
Maan: Geet...
But he was shockked seeing her in tears...
Maan: Geet... kya hua?? Hey why are you crying?
He sat behind her and held her shoulders...
She didn't respond but her cries grew louder...
He closed her mouth with his palm...
Maan: sshhh kya karr rahi ho... kisi ne dekh liya toh sochega ki I am torturing you
She clamed a bit and stopped her cries but tears still flowed...
Maan: kya baat hai abb bolo bhi... Aise mujhe kaise pata chalega...?
Here he was thinking that it will be easy to handle Geet and difficult to manaofy sasurji... but things went opposite...!!!
She wiped her tears with back of her palm...
Geet: aap kyu ja rahe ho???
Maan: kaam hai Geet... sir requested me himself, I couldn't just refuse.
Geet: toh wo khud kyu nahi jaate??
Maan: ye kya bachho jaise baat hai... waise wo nahi ja sakte, unke ghar me shadi hai... he needs to be there...
Geet: aur hamari shadi nahi hai...? you don't need to be here for that...!!!

He asked faking hurt...

Geet: nahi nahi... Aise nahi hai..
She tried to do damage control falling in his trap...
Geet: wo toh mai bass thoda darr gai thi... Mujhe pata hai aap aise nahi karr sakte... Karr kya, aap aise soch bhi nahi sakte... Ager papa aur rahul Bhaiiya ko pata chala toh...??
She said that generally but for Maan khatre ki ghanti baj gai...
Maan(st): mujhko zinda nahi chhodenge dono...!! 🤢
He completed her sentence in his mind...
Maan: okay... I should leave now... Day after tomorrow morning I am returning... Till than no phone calls... Time difference hoga na...
He said and got up to leave...
She held his hand to stop him.
Geet: 2 days mai aapke bina kya karungi?
He thought for a second then...
Maan: padhai start karo... For next attempt
Geet: 😲
Her mouth opened wide... How dare he say openly that she will fail... Soo mean, she left his hand in a jerk and ran off but not before shouting...
Geet: bye take care... And I'm not talking to you...!!!
He smiled at her cute anger... And left shaking his head.

It was the next evening... Geet was moving to and fro in her room, she was feeling quite disturbed... It was already more than 24 hours that they talked, she missed him...!!!
Upon that she was having some weird feeling since a couple of hours...
Geet: kya karu... Chain bhi nahi aa raha...
Call karr hi leti hu... Abb gussa iss bechaine se badhkar thodi na hai...
And she dialed his no without any second thought...
She was so anxious that she spoke up before he could even sag hello...
Geet: hello... Aap thik ho na...
Aavnatika: Geet... Beta mai toh thik hi hu...!!
Geet was startled for a moment not finding Maan at the other end...
Geet: Maa aap... Pranam... Wo Maine toh bass aise hi call kiya...
She sounded silly... But didn't know what else to say...
Aavnatika: haan humey pata hai aise hi cal kiya... Parr Maan ko kiya humey nahi...
Geet: nahi woo...
Aavnatika: arrey hum mazzak karr rahe thhe... Aur aapko bata de ki Maan apna phone lekar nahi gaye hai... Unka international roaming on nahi hai...
Geet: ohh...
She went silent for a moment then...
Geet: achha Maa mai rakhti hu...
And she was about to cut the call but stopped hearing Aavnatika...
Aavnatika: ruko... Humne kaha phone nahi le gaye... Parr ye toh nahi kaha ki you cannot talk to him... Tab le karr gaye hai apni... Ruko mai number deti hu baat karr lo... (voice tab hai😆)
Geet: ji...
Happiness was evident on her voice... But today Aavnatika left her without teasing, somehow she did not feel like that... She felt Geet was a bit sad right now... Or restless or something...
Maa hai!!! She knows what her child is feeling.
As soon as Geet got his number she dialed him, he took much time to pick... But he did...
Maan: kya baat hai... Madam ka gussa shant ho gaya...
Geet:
Maan: abb kuchh bolo bhi... Chupp rehne k liye call kiya hai?
Geet: aap jaldi waps aa jao...
He got concerned hearing her tone...
Maan: Geet... Kya hua?? Kisi ne kuchh kaha kya?
Geet: nahi... Mujhe bass kuchh achha nahi lag raha... Aap kabb aa rahe ho?
Maan: I am just boarding the flight... Morning before u wake up, I will be there...!!
Chalo abb jaldi se smile do... Flight ka time ho gaya hai... And Tab ki battery about to die...
Geet: jaldi aana...
Maan: before u expect...😊
Bye!!!!
And the call was disconnected... Still she kept holding it on her ears...
