Oh no not again!' 'I hate you daddy!' She almost threw away the phone after talking to her father. She was angry & frustrated that her father didn't have time for anything. 'What happened didu?' her little sister questioned after noticing her elder sister's behavior. 'Nothing!' 'Just leave me alone!' She shut the door with a bang.
She lied on her bed, & buried her face inside her pillow. She cried her heart out. How could a father can miss such an important thing? Specially at a time when his daughter is gonna make him proud.
She looked at the family photo which was hanging on the wall of her room. It was taken few years back when they were holidaying in London. 'I wish everyday was like this!' She sighed. She re-called the memories. It was a surprise given by her father. They didn't knew they are going to London until he revealed surprisingly just a day before for the departure. How they spent 3 weeks enjoying every second of their summer vacation in London. She could almost make her class mates jealous that she has the best dad in the whole wide world.
'Sneha..!' She heard a knock at the door. 'Sneha.. please open the door!' She heard a worried voice calling her name from outside. It didn't even take a second for her to realize that it was her mom. She was hesitant to open cause she hated to show her weaknesses in front of her family. But her mom knew about her more than anyone & was there for every time when she needed her mom the most.
She went back to bed & lied down burying her head inside the pillow & started weeping again. She felt a soft hand caressing her hair. She looked up, yet the vision was blurred due to the tears in her eyes. 'Baby.. everything is gonna be fine! Daddy will definitely come.' 'Trust me, he will.' Her mom reassured. She hugged her mom tightly & started crying again.
Sneha Maan Singh Khurana, was the eldest child of the Khurana family. She was so proud to be the daughter of the well known Paediatric surgeon, Dr. Maan Singh Khurana & the former journalist, Geet Singh Khurana. She was 11 years old & was studying in the sixth standard & was a bright, studious student. She had two siblings, a brother who was 8 years old & a sister who was just 4 years old.
Geet Singh Khurana was an understanding wife & a loving mom where as Dr. Maan Singh Khurana was a devoted Paediatric surgeon who spent most of his time of the hospital. Being a surgeon wasn't easy at all, specially being a Paediatric surgeon, the responsibility of his patients who were kids, always lied on his hands. He loved his job & never complained about the toughness of it. In fact, he enjoyed every second of working as a doctor & serving the country as a good surgeon. He barely gets time to attend to family affairs which made his kids disappointing all the time. But he gave all the comforts for his kids as a dad but didn't have enough of time to spend with them. He reports for his work early in the morning, sometimes even before the sun rises up & comes back late night almost everyday. The kids are on their sleep when he lefts the house & when he comes back everyday.
Geet was an understanding wife. She left her job as a journalist right after she got pregnant with her first child. Maan & Geet met each other at a refugee camp in an area which was cleared out after a civil war where Maan worked as a volunteer doctor after completing his internship & Geet had gone there as a journalist of a well known news paper to report about the refugee camps & the charity work going on there. They had an attraction towards each other since the first day they met & the love blossomed between them, soon became love birds & tied the knot after 2 years of courtship. Their world was filled with happiness with the arrival of their 3 kids, Sneha, Nevaan & Mahi.
Geet had understood the responsibilities of her husband as a surgeon & helped him in every possible way. Her kids made her on toes 24/7 but she never complained about anything but enjoyed every minute of her motherhood.
'Mommy, Daddy is very bad!' 'I hate him!' 'Why he have no time to attend for my prize giving?' 'Shouldn't he be there to clap for me when I get the award for the best student?' Sneha sobbed. Geet understood her daughter's situation. Maan could barely attend their matters as he was so busy as a doctor. Maan had only attended on the first day of school of his eldest kids. He missed the parents' meetings, annual concerts, sports days every time. Geet was there for her kids, attending all of them alone. She missed him in every event but never complained as she knew her husband is busy in saving another child's life at the hospital.
To be continued... 😳
If anyone interested on receiving updates about the story, please add me to your buddy list. 😃
PS- I can say I wrote this by my own experience as both of my parents are doctors & I've included some of my personal incidents throughout the story. 😉
