Geet...Geet...Shhh... Geet ... Ankhen kholo...

Huhh... Meera... Meera...

Ohh.. as I opened my eyes I realized I was in my room with an anxious Meera sitting beside me trying to sooth my lifeless, frighten soul. But as I opened my eyes, I knew nothing is changed, everything is still the same. It's the same nightmare ... the same loneliness ... the same darkness ... that consumes me every night...

Geet... Tum theek ho??

Huh... Yash...

I looked up at Yash n Meera's concerned faces, the only two people who have been with me inspite of being a stranger, with their unconditional support since past 2 years. Sometimes I wonder, which unseen bond has bounded them to an unknown stranger, destitute n broken person like me.

I smiled at them n nodded my head to let them know that I m fine now, though as always I was anything but fine. But still knowing that how worried they get about me, I assured them...

Mein theek hu Yash... Meera ab tum log jao... Jaa kar so jao... Roz ki tarah aaj bhi tumhari neend kharab kar di naa...

Geet... Meera said, taking one of my hand in hers. The way she said it made me look into her apprehensive eyes. Normally every night when I assure them that I m fine they nod n return back to their room but it wasn't the same today...

Ofcourse it was not any normal day for me. I have been frighten, hurt n tearful the entire day. And I know it hasn't gone unnoticed by Meera, inspite of my conscious efforts.

Kya baat hai??? Tum aaj subah se hi pareshan ho... Mein subah se dekh rahi hu... Halki si aahat se darr jaati ho... Aasoon to jaise bahane dhond rahe ho aane ke...

Geet... 2 saal se hum tumhe yunhi... issi haalat mein dekh rahen hai... Har raat issi darr ke saath...

Geet... I know it must b very personal... but kabhi kabhi dard batane se... mann halka ho jata hai... uska asarr thoda kam ho jata hai...

Meera... Agar ye nahi chahati to humme isse pressurize nahi karna chahiye... par Geet...Hum tumhare dost hai... Agar kabhi bhi tumhe lage ki tum humse kuch share karna chahti ho... to sirf ek aawaz laga dena...

I couldn't stop the tears that made their way on my cheeks. It was so overwhelming. Since last 2 years, I have been staying with them. From day 1, they have been very supportive... be it giving me shelter when I had no one to go to in this unknown city or helping me to get my first job or paying no heed to the disturbance in their newly married life every night due to my screaming while having those nightmares...

As if understanding my silence... they both left for their room but not before giving me a painful smile. I felt a tug at my heart. It was the first ever time... When they both have asked me about my past. But I know I can't answer their questions. I can never.

Kuch cheezen ankahi hi rahen to achchi hoti hai ... Kuch toofan aise hote hai jinka darr ye kale badal humesha banaye rekhte hai... Aur mein janti hu... ye kale badal meri kismet mein humesha ke liye chhaa chuke hai... Par mein uss toofan ko kabhi bhi bahar nahi aane doongi... Ab aur kissi ki zindagi pe inn kale badalon ka saaya nahi padne doongi... Kabhi nahi...

Tears have become an integral, inseparable part of my being. Yet again they made their way wetting my pillow which by now might be quiet used to it.

Birds were chirping, mantras were being chanted indicating the arrival of dawn in the holy city of Rishikesh. Another sleepless night ended for me... giving a lil respite to my restless heart.

Leaving my bed... I freshened n changed into my tracks getting ready for my morning walk. It has become a ritual to go for a morning walk since I have come to stay here in Rishikesh.

I chuckled painfully at the thought of it while leaving the house as I was never a morning person. Sleep was my dear friend. But time changes and so do people. And here am I...

It's been 2 years since I have actually slept... Infact the word sleep in enough to shake me to the core. I fear the moment I lie down on my bed at night and try my best to keep myself awake. But even the tiredness of the whole day of work fails to keep me away from those nightmares... those painful memories...

I walked faster n increased the volume of my ipod, a failed attempt, to save myself from those painful thoughts.

As I entered the house after 2 hours, I saw Meera coming out of her room, yawning n stretching.

Good morning Meera...

Morning Geet... U r back ??? O my god... Aaj mein phir se late uthi...

I smiled at her knowing she is trying to hide her blush by pouting.

It's OK Meera... Tum jaakar fresh ho jao... Mein chai bana deti hu... Phir tum Yash ko bhi utha dena... Hmmm ??

I gave her an assuring smile n made my way towards my room.

It was Monday today so we three were just chit - chatting after our breakfast as I would b opening my boutique n Meera, her gift shop, after lunch. And takes a half day from his office on almost all the Mondays to spend time with us at home. The door bell rang n Yash ran to check at the door while a curious Meera asked.

Kaun hai Yash ???

Meera... There r 2 legal documents... in the names of Mrs Meera Malhotra n Mrs Geet Khurana...
