Thirty Nine

"Babaji, why is everyone looking at only me & not at Maan as if...as if I had kidnapped Maan & taken him to Shimla...!"

Geet wondered as all the eyes were on her in the hall of Khurana Mansion. Maan stood beside Dadima slyly smirking which made Geet frown inwardly. Dadima sighed helplessly knowing very well how things would shape up in the next couple of minutes.

"Maan hamesha aisa karte hain!! Putting me in a tight spot is his old habit!!!!!!!"

"Mishty, kya kare, aadat se majboor!"

"Sorry Daarji..."

That's all she knew to say.

"Geet!!! We did not expect this from you!!!!!!"

"Why is everyone suspecting me??!What did I do???!!! How can I kidnap Maan?!!"

"Sorry Daarji..."

She stuck to her standard reply with her eyes gazing the floor.

"Both of you were to return yesterday! If the flight had got cancelled then you should have informed us or Savitrideviji!! We were so worried!" Mohinder spoke.

Geet received a shock. All were solemnly looking at her.

"Kya???????!!! which flight got cancelled??"

Geet saw Maan smirking through the corner of her eye.

"Sorry Papa..."

"How was the wedding reception?" inquired Rano.

"Kya?????????? Wedding reception?????? But whose?!! Yeh kya ho raha hai??? Babaji, I'm feeling giddy!!!"

Geet saw Maan's eyes filled with mischief.

"Ab dekho kya hota hai Mishty!"

"Aunty, wedding reception was too good. Geet & I enjoyed it thoroughly. Hai na Geet?"

Annie came & stood next to her. Geet gaped at her clueless while she continued with her story quite convincingly.

"I am extremely sorry for not informing. As our exam results will be out in a week, Geet & I were very stressed. So we planned a trip to Shimla. We also attended my cousin's Maansi's wedding reception there. Since our flight got cancelled yesterday, we returned today morning! "

"I was at Juhi's place when the Handas arrived in KM!"

"Maan! I can't believe I supported you in this Golmaal!" sighed Dadima.

Everyone believed Annie, even Daarji! Geet was hell cross with Maan!

"Did you go for sight-seeing?" chirped Rajji.

"Oh yes! We did! Geet & Maansi got along very well, hai na Geet?" there was a slight taunt in her voice, "toh tumhi batao na humne wahan kya kya kiya?"

"Khurana siblings have pledged to make every second of my life unpredictable!!!!!!!!!"

"Uhh...We went to ski but Maansi was not able to ski properly, then river crossing, horse riding, Maansi was getting bored in the museum, then we had the reception party where Maansi & her husband seemed to be very much in love with each other."

Geet saw Maan smirking heavily through the corner of her eyes!

"It's good that both of you had a refreshing break but next time se inform us if there is any change in schedule!" said Mohinder & everyone agreed.

Geet grew wide-eyed with shock.

"Iska matlab...Iska matlab everyone was told beforehand itself that Annie & I will be going to Shimla!!!!!"

So the matter was closed with satisfactory results.

"Woh...uh! Aaj kal ki generation hi aisi hai. They don't inform anyone where they are going & when they will return...! " Maan said in the most gentleman voice when Daarji set his eyes on him.

"Aap toh rehne hi dijiye! Even you're a part of this generation okay!!"

Geet abruptly snapped him in front of all which startled Maan too. She bit her tongue as everyone was looking at both of them! Geet struggled to control the crimsonness of her face when Maan literally held his ears uttering a soft 'sorry'! For a change, even Daarji found him adorable doing that along with the rest present!

Then it was a sort of Handa reunion. Maan smiled seeing Geet so happy on meeting her family after many months. Geet & Rajji were inseparable. Both were giggling & laughing. Rano interacted with Dadima while Mohinder discussed business with Maan.

There was a latest development in Geet's life. The Handas shifted base to Mumbai for few months owing to business work & also because they were missing Geet. There were going to stay in the bungalow which Mohinder had bought a year ago. But it's renovation still required two extra days. So for the time being, Dadima insisted that the Handas stay in the Mansion.

"Vikrant & Niharika are coming back tomorrow!" she said.

Annie's face hardened hearing that.

Maan, unfortunately, came face to face with Daarji in one of the corridors.

"Why do I have this gut feeling that you keep on staring at Geet always?" he asked suspiciously.

"No! Not at all!" Maan pretended to be very innocent, "Actually, I'm very observant by nature. One should always be observant about one's surroundings like how you are very observant about me."

That's how Maan tricked Daarji. He left giving him a stern look to which Maan smirked inwardly!

After lunch, it was time for dessert. All were seated around the long table. Maan & Geet sat across each other.

"Geet, will you please pass that sweet dish?" asked Maan in a normal voice & Daarji looked at him.

Now Geet was still angry on him because of the morning prank.

"Self-help yourself."

Maan smirked inwardly.

"But I really love mishty..."

Annie coughed.

Geet's heart strings shook hearing him. He was referring to the sweet dish but only she could clearly see the husky glint in his eyes.

"Babaji, yeh mujhe hamesha pareshan karte hain...Sabke samne he said I love you to me...But Geet, no one knows here that he calls you Mishty so don't pink your face aavayi, samjhi???"

"Geet putter."

"Huh...Ji Daarji!" she came out of her la la land.

"Pass the sweet to Maan." he said not suspecting anything.

Her eyes grew wide-eyed. Maan gave a quirky look at her!

Geet was pacing to & fro.

"Kehte hain love changes people par yahan toh it's just the opposite!. Babaji, kya Maan kabhi nahi sudhrege?? Mana ki now the contract between you & him is permanent'." She blushed slightly, "But you can obviously do away with the prank wala clause, hai na?"

Suddenly she felt hands snaking around her waist from behind. She squirmed feeling heated breaths on her neck...Maan trailed kisses across her shoulders...

"Ma-an..."

He then abruptly turned her around to face him plastering her against his torso. She saw his eyes filled with emotions of love for her but at the same time there was a mischievous glint in them!

"When...is the due date when you...will stop playing pranks?"

"I can't reveal because your Babaji told it's confidential info."

She frowned.

"Chaddo!! Mujhe aapse baat hi nahi karni!!!"

He placed his forehead on hers. Both their eyes were closed & their breaths intertwined...

"Mishty, your parents are having the notion that we don't really like each other & we will continue that way until the right time comes! Then I will..."

He whispered what he would do. Smiling shyly, she hugged him tightly.

"But...I can't always pretend to remain aloof from you..."

"Ah! My pranks are always there to trouble you!" he exclaimed roguishly.

And she gave him a baby punch!

When Geet walked into Annie's room, she was surprised to see Annie practicing ramp walk! And mind it! Annie was very well in that! Actually both the Khurana sibling had style & attitude in excess.

"Uh...Are you taking part in modeling in the inter-college festival?"

"Yes."

There was silence after that. Geet spoke again.

"Woh...I just wanted to thank you for that Shimla story."

"I helped Maan Bhai, not you! And one more thing, he shouldn't come to know of my ramp walk. Got it?"

"Uh...Okay."

Annie looked as if something was bothering her. Geet left the room.

Later Geet's doubts were confirmed when she over-heard Annie's scum words to Dadima.

"They are coming back so early to file for a divorce. Right?!!!!"

"Annie bte---"

"I don't want to hear anything."

Geet was shocked.

"Maan's parents seeking a divorce?????"
