When Geet walked in Khurana Constructions, she could sense that all eyes were set on her as if she was some celebrity. Maan was in a meeting so she decided to wait in his cabin. She saw him giving a presentation while passing by the conference room. She stopped to admire him. Geet wondered how a man of high caliber like him can fall for a simple & nave girl like her! She blushed.

"Woh...aap busy ho...? I'm sorry to disturb you..."

She got up seeing Maan & Rishi entering the cabin talking some serious matters. Rishi left after getting a cue from his boss.

"Mishty, I want you to disturb me always, achcha lagta hai!"

Maan said huskily as he pulled her close & their eyes locked...

"Ma-an...I want to ask you something...if you don't mind..."

"Any problem?" he asked cautiously seeing her hesitate.

"Woh...Annie looked disturbed...She was in a very sullen mood...I mean I overheard her speaking of divorce..."

Her eyes looked down. Maan understood what she was trying to say. He released her.

"No one is seeking divorce, Anwesha was being sarcastic." he assured her.

"Par phir bhi, aren't there problems between Niharika aunty & Vikrant uncle?"

She bit her tongue & eyes gazed the floor guiltily, not knowing whether it was right to interfere or not. Maan & turned behind & looked at her.

"Dad met Mom during the initial days of KC. Both of them fell in love at first sight & married instantly without really knowing each other. And as expected, within a few months problems started cropping in. They had huge differences of opinion, then professional rivalry, doubting each other which led to fights in their personal life as well. As a child, I have seen them in love but mostly I saw them fighting. After Anwesha was born, there was a ray of hope but nothing really worked out. So most of the times, they prefer staying away from each other ensuring no fights & that's how it is even now. Anwesha & I are close to Dadima as she played the lead role in our upbringing. Mom & Dad really love both of us dearly but fall short of expressing it. Anwesha yearned for them to be a perfect couple but it didn't happen. Dad went to Dubai to attend business seminars whereas Mom went to Singapore to attend seminars of economics. They are coming back tonight but mostly they avoid being in KM at the same time. Both are egoistic & would never admit that somewhere a thread still binds them & I know they can never seek a divorce..."

There was silence. Though Maan said it lightly, it affected Geet.

"I have nothing against them since both are special to me."

"Maan I--" she was worried.

"Anwesha will be fine!"

They hugged after which Geet left for college.

So yes I was right. Nothing is exactly hunky-dory in Khurana Mansion. And now I know why Annie was extremely rude to me when we first met. She wanted her parents to be like mine. She wanted a happy family. She loves her bhai a lot. That's why she wanted a perfect girl for him. She didn't like me to be with Maan but when she came to know our feelings for each other, she had no issues with Maan & my relationship.

The last two lectures got cancelled & I found Annie alone in the locker room. As usual, she did not acknowledge my presence.

"A communication gap can create a very serious problem in any relationship."

"Oh! So Miss Geet Handa gyaan bhi dene lagi hai?" she was sarcastic.

"I know there are problems between your parents but---"

"Listen! You don't have to dig your nose in it okay! It's none of your business!!!" she shot back.

"Even though it's none of my business still as a citizen of this country, I am given freedom of speech & freedom of expression and you can't curtail my rights because India is a democratic country!!"

Ah...did I share that I used to love a subject called 'Civics' in my school days. That's a different thing that I never scored well in that!

Annie gave me a what-the-hell look.

"Why don't you just tell your parents that you love them & want them to be together instead of just sulking?!!!"

"As if they will listen to what I want. They don't care about me!!!!!"

"They care about you!! Perhaps that's why they didn't seek divorce because they know it will break you completely."

"Bhai told me we mustn't interfere in their fights as it might aggravate the situation."

"It's not interfering. It's about sharing your feelings with them. It's about telling them that you are incomplete without them. Words said from the heart really do make a difference. "

Did I really say that?.I think my words affected her somewhere!

"It's very easy to say things so better leave!!!!"

"Don't worry! We won't turn best friends if you commit the mistake of listening to me once."

She stared at me. I got up & left. Sometimes the answers to our problems are around us, it's we who don't have the vision to see them.

Soon the Handas shifted to their sea-facing bungalow & Geet was the happiest to be back living with her family, even though for a few months. How much she had missed Rano's home-made food, her dad's jokes, Daarji's stern yet love-filled words & ofcourse Rajji's talks about her crushes! Maan & Geet continued to pretend disliking each other but many a times, he cunningly flirted with her in front of all! But with her family shifting to Mumbai, Maan & Geet had less private moments with each other...

On the other hand, Maan's parents were back in the Mansion. He was very much surprised to see them smile at each other & behave cordially. It was not that they didn't have fights but it was less as compared to previous times. Niharika & Vikrant had decided to work their problems out & give a second innings to their relationship. It seemed after ages that the entire Khurana family sat together for dinner & free talks surfaced in the air instead of dead silence. Maan saw his darling sister smile heartily. Actually both of them had forgotten to smile, it was Mishty who came as a fresh breeze in their life.

"So do you want to confess anything, Miss Anwesha Khurana?"

Maan asked her when they were in the terrace one night.

"Nahi."

"Don't shy away!"

"Fine!! I did what your girlfriend had told me to do. But don't expect us to be best friends in the conventional way. Your girlfriend & I have a rather unusual bonding & it will remain that way."

That night when Maan called up Geet, she was in full tension mode as the exam results were expected to be out within a few days. Geet was just going on blabbering. Finally Maan had to mouth is famous dialogue.

"Chup!! Bilkul Chup!!"

Geet got sa scared that she actually put finger on her lip!

"Maan...aap Babaji se kahiye na to give me good marks because he always takes your side...!"

"Woh sab toh thik hai, but what will you give me as commission in return?" he asked mischievously .

And as usual she frowned & he smirked. That eased her worries out!
