What he more or less meant was that he wished to go back in time and tell/warn himself that what he thinks at that point is love is not actually love after all.
Whether that's true or whether he was in love with her when they got married is up for debate...

I love that you always bring something new to the table, Sanjh. The theory in bold definitely rings true to me. Geet and Maan can barely function around each other but are pretty normal around others...there is a desperation in seeing the person that's so far away from you stood just finger lengths away.
You raise a curious point about maiden names; I'm not quite sure I agree with you there. I find keeping your maiden name perfectly acceptable - in fact, I was telling my own family not too long ago that I intend to do just that and will only add his name to mine if he adds my name to his. My surname is a part of my identity. My full name is the person I've been building for years - is it fair for me to be told to give it away? Not even give it away - for it to just stop existing one day. Taking Geet in point here, she has built her own business with this name and has become extremely successful as Geet Handa. If Maan feels saddened at how Geet Handa doesn't exist around him anymore, I understand. But if he feels threatened by her going by her surname, it may be shedding light on his insecurity instead, perhaps?
This is just my opinion, of course. You have all the right to disagree with me. Your comment made me think a lot, actually, and I was wondering whether anyone else had a view on this topic?

Zarin, your reply to Sanjh's comment on maiden names completely mirrors what I feel regarding this topic. It should be a girl's choice if she wants to change her surname after marriage, not an imposed decision upon her. The surname is a part of who she actually is. Agreed that after marriage she becomes a part of a new family but that doesn't mean she has to let go of all she's been in her life. But if she changes her name out of love for her husband then that's a completely different matter. This is just my opinion and so it isn't necessary that anyone agrees with me or not. 😊

Mariam, I did an IF search on you to check the spelling for your name and ended up stumbling upon the reason why you asked if this is my first. I'm going to step away from the internet before I become even more big headed 😆
