Part 7

Morning sun came and witnessed from a dark room window, of a small, two bedroom cottage, a man doing his morning exercise which looked like he was punishing him self for something, he should not have done, but he did. he was still in trance what happened yesterday, why it happened. he raised his hand to slap a girl, which was not in her sense that too.because of his mistake. he was still listening some flying words in his mind which was pricking his soul.

" maan singh khurana ne aaj tak kabhi asa nahi kiya, fir kal asa kase ho gaya. agar meri bewkufi ki.wajah se geet ko kuch ho jata toh..mai khud ko kabhi maaf kahi kar pata..kabhi nahi." he couldn't think further and throw himself in fire of remorse again

geet was in kitchen, making breakfast , lost somewhere far from her place, in a unknown place, where she only knew one man " maan " . kha honge, abhi tak ghar nahi aaye...babaji ye maine kya kar diya.. geet., tujhe apna aapa ase nahi khona chahiye tha..unhone jo kuch kiya galat tha bahut galat..per geet unhe asa karne pe mazboor to tune kiya na. aur fir gusse me itni badi baat bol di..." she closed her eyes. " babaji..woh jaha bhi ho unke sath rahiyega please"

she was ready to go collage when phone rang. she was going to pick when mohindar picked " thik hai beta.. tum apna khyaal rakhna" and he put down. geet was confused whose phone was this. looking her questioned face mohindar told it was maan s and he have arranged a cottage in xyz place, as it was near to his working site. geet nodded unhappy and left for collage. in collage. geet was lost. not attending lecture with right mind. meera was observing her for long. Finally she couldn't bear and asked

meera- geet kya hua.jarur koi baat hai. maan ne kuch kiya ..haa' maan word brought her back. she looked meera and told her everything.

Meera- hmm.. toh baat yaha tak pahuch gayi. Maine bola tha geet mat kar ye sab. Dekha na kya ho gaya. .. ' geet looked her with guilt eyes.

Geet- meera.. job hi hua anjaane me hua. Maine asa kabhi nahi socha tha

Meera- jaanti hu geet.. galti tum dono se hui.. per geet shuruyaat toh tune ki na. maan ne uncle ki jaan bachayi.. per tune ek baar bhi thank you nahi bola.. ulte usse washroom me band kar diya.. usee maara bhi. Toh kisi bhi sahi dimaag wale insaan ko gussa toh aayega na. fir mujhe lagta hai wo bura insaan nahi hai.. tabhi toh teri fikar thi usse.hai na

Geet nodded. 'meera..mai ab kya karu. Mujhe bahut bura lag raha hai ki meri wajah se who ghar chor ke chale gaye.

Meera- aree geet isme udaas hone wali kon si baat hai.. tu maan ko phone kar le aur apne kiye ki maafi maang le. Fir dekhna sab kase thik ho jata hai.

Geet smiled. "aree haa meera..mai bhi kitna budhhu hu.. mere dimaag me ye baat aai hi nahi. Chal mai abhi jaati hu aur sorry bol deti hu.. byeee'

"areee geet sun toh..teri class..geeett,.. ye larki bhi na bilkul pagal hai' meera said and went to her next class.

Geet reached home almost running. Mohindar was not there. She throws her bag on sofa and picked phone hurriedly. But she had not his number. She looked here n there for phone diary and located it on table. She picked it up and searched for his number but it was not written there. She went anxious. ' papa ke paas hoga ' she murmured and phoned to mohindar and asked for number. ' tujhe kyu chahiye beta" mohindar asked

Geet – wo..woh papa.. who mujhe kuch books mangwaani thi unse. Who wahi milti hai..unke site pe paas me " she lied. Mohindar convinced and gave her number. She smiled and started to dial maan s but put down receiver in jerk.. ' mai bolungi kyaa.. aur kahi unhone baat nahi kit oh.. kahi phone cut kar diya toh .. per geet jab tak try nahi karegi, tab tak pata kase chalega.. tu try toh kar pahle.. hmm' she nodded her head in confusion and dialled again. With every ring her heartbeat was also vibrating. Both were in same rhythm. After some rings maan picked call. " mohinadar uncle ka phone ' maan thought and asked ' namaste uncle" ….

He he he he " geet giggled. Maan lost listening her laugh. ' geett" he whispered. His guilt came back in front of his eyes. Here geet was still laughing , thinking maan misunderstood her papa. Maan was getting restless now and geet forgot why she called him.

'Geettt" maan shouted. Then suddenly he closed his eyes knowing why he shouted. ' geet , tumne phone kyu kiya" this time he composed himself and asked.

Geet stopped and thought ' maine phone kyu kiya tha..haan sorry bolne ke liye'.. wo..wohh m..maan ..woh..m..maii..s.soo..ssoo" she was not able to say what she had to.

"geet .. kuch bologi ya mai yuhi phone pakar ke khara rahu" maan was getting uneasy with every passing time. He was not able to say anything to her in his remorse. He wanted to end this call soon. Here geet was extremely nervous as she could not say a simple word sorry. Both were in same boat but stood on far edge. In hurry geet put phone down. 'baabji,, mere muh se aawaj kyu nahi nikal rahi.. ase toh mai kitna bolte rahti hu.. chal geet ek baar fir try kar baabji ka naam leke..haina..haa" she again dialled and same thing happened. Both got frustrated. After some time her phone rang. She picked up and this was maan. " geet.. tumhe koi kaam tha'

'kaam..nahi toh ..kyu' geet shuddered her shoulder' . " hmmm..thik hai " maan said and cut.

"geet .. jhalli, pagal, bewkuff, stupid.. ye tune kya kiya. Maan ne khud phone kiya aur tune iss baar bhi nahi boli .. babaji ..paat nahi mai uss dust ke saamne kuch bol kyu nahi paa rahi .. paat nahi ab who dust phone uthayega bhi ya nahi" saying this she again tried his phone but maan dint received this time as he was very irritated.

Geet- dekha..dekhaa ..nahi uthaya naa...mai jaanti thi..per ab kya karu baabji" she was on verge of cry, fiddling her duppata when an idea lightened in her mind. She hurriedly picked her bag and run to near by telephone booth. She dialled his number and kept her dupatta on phone receiver like a thief do when he needs to change his voice. She was tapping her feet in anxiety. Phone was ringing. Maan picked after some rings. " hello' he said

"I m sorry m sorry m sorry who sab anjaane me hua mujhe kuch samajh nahi aaya aur mai bolti cahli gayi mai dar gayi thi toh kuch samjh nahi aaye isiliye sab muh se nikal gaya aur who admi mere piche para tha toh mai dar gayi thi toh sab anjaane me bol diya aap naraj mat hona mai bhi aapse naraj nahi hu rakhti hu ok byeee." She cut and she inhaled tones of air after throwing her all words in half breath. She patted her shoulder ' wah geet kya dimmag lagaya.. maan ko pata bhi nahi chala hoga ki maine phone kiya aur maine sorry bhi bol di ..haina..haa" she smiled hard.

Here maan really dint know who called him as it was new number and changed voice and also dint understand what she said because it was too fast to record anything in his mind. 'koi pagal thi lagta hai " he shake his head and resumed his work
