PART 16

The morning ruckus by birds outside woke up Maan. He slowly opened his eyes to find himself sleeping at a very uncomfortable position on the couch. Last night he tried his best to sleep in such a way, that the bed was not visible to him. He got up, to realise that his neck was a little stiff. He looked up to check Geet on the bed, but was surprised to not find her there. He looked towards the door of the room, but it was still latched from inside, also the washroom's door was open.

He panicked, "Yeh Geet kahan gayi??" And immediately got up from the couch, but suddenly, he felt a cold gush of wind in the room and his eyes darted towards the balcony. The gates were open, but he had not noticed them earlier because the curtains were still drawn, as if they were not removed from their position, to prevent the cold winds to enter the room.

He started to move towards the balcony and shifted the curtains to one side. He was mesmerized by the scene infront of him. The beautiful, collossal, green hills were towering the balcony. Only a narrow stream of river was separating their balcony from these magnanimous hills. Sun was still in its ascend, slowly moving to engulf and light every corner of the surroundings.

Geet was standing on the edge of the balcony, her hands holding the railing. Her eyes were closed, and her face was turned towards the approaching sunlight.

Ho Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga...

Her hair was open and flowing with the slight breeze. Her dupatta was covering most of her front, and was sticking to her body due to the breeze. There was a small peaceful smile playing on her lips. It seemed as if she was trying to absorb all of the nature around her, in herself. Slowly, the orange light, from the sun, fell on her face, illuminating it. It had an altogether, different effect on her face. It was as if the face was sparkling in the morning light.

The minute Maan's eyes fell on Geet, he forgot to look anywhere else. Maan was simply spell bound on watching her beauty. It was not that he had not met beautiful women earlier, but this simple, innocent beauty of Geet, her gesture, in the early morning sunlight, standing in the middle of nature's paradise, Maan could simply not take his eyes off her. He went into a trance and his feet started moving towards her on their own accord. Somewhere in his mind, due to the last night, he had this fear that all this was again just a dream. So he extended his hand to touch her cheek and assure himself of her presence.

The sudden touch on her cheek, broke her reverie, and she snapped open her eyes only to find Maan standing beside her, staring at her, with his hand on her cheek. He seemed to be lost in some thought.

"Haye Babaji, yeh to itni jaldi uth gaye. Maine to socha tha ki subhe, inke uthne se phale hi yahan se chali jaungi, taki yah mujhe kaal raat ke liyia na daant sakein. Par aisi pyaari jagah ke itne khoobsurat nazaare to kaise miss karti, isiliyia yahan ruk gayi. Pata nhi phir kab aisa nazara dekhne ko milta. Kitna khoobsoorat hai yeh. Par aab to yeh uth gaye. Aab kya hoga. Babaji bacha lena mujhe please" she thought.

But then Geet realized that Maan's hand was still resting on her cheek and she got a little cautious and looked up towards him. The minute their eyes meet, Maan got completely lost in her and started moving closer to her, and raised his other hand also, to cup her face. But the second his hand was about to touch her other cheek, her palm touched his hand, which was resting on her cheek, and he felt her removing his hand from there. This brought him to his senses and he immediately took a step away from her and looked away. He closed his eyes in frustration. Geet was interpretating his actions in a totally different manner. She thought that he was very angry at her.

Maan felt a poke on his shoulder. He immediately opened his eyes and turned to looked at her. She backed off seeing his angry face. "Sir wooohh, wooh sir, wooh main chalti hun. Meeting ke liyia late ho rhi hai." She tried escaping from there.

"Ekk minute Geet''.rukko" Geet stopped in her tracks "Maar gaye.. Babaji" Geet thought.

Maan came infront of her. Geet was looking down, trying to avoid looking into his eyes. Looking at her, he placed his hands on his waist and said in his full MSK attitude " Geet, kahi tum aapne room me to taiyaar hone nhi jaa rhi? Aur agar jaa rhi ho, to room ke aandar jaane se phale acche se check karlena. Kahi aandar koi tumhe KIDNAP karne ke liyia chupa na ho"

Geet rushed away from there all embarrassed. Maan smirked behind her.

At the meeting place..

All were waiting for the final announcement of the name of the company, which will get the contract.

A person comes out and addresses them all. "Thank you all for your time and patience. All of your presentations were absolutely fabulous. In the end, there were two companies who were in close competition. But the final decision was based on the most innovative and economical designs. Hence we are glad to inform you all that this contract goes to the Khurana Constructions. Congratulations Mr. Maan Singh Khurana. We will shortly call you to fulfill the rest of the formalities regarding the signing of the contract"

Brij was shocked at the results. He had already confirmed, from his sources that Chaudharies was one of the two final choices, and he was pretty confident to win the contract. He was fuming with anger at his defeat.

"Maan Singh Khurana, yeh mat sochna ki Brij Chaudhary itni aasani se haar maan lega. Khel to abhi bas shru hua hai. Yeh contract to Chaudharies hi pura karenge, yeh Brij Chaudhary ka vaada hai tumse"

And he strode away from there, talking to someone on his phone.

Maan and Geet completed all the formalities. Geet was super excited on their winning the contract and that the clients had liked the designs. Although she was still a little embarrassed in Maan's presence, due to last night's incident, and hence had kept her excitement subdued.

When all was done, and they were about to leave for the airport, they were informed that due to the strike of the airline staff, their flight had got cancelled, and the next available flight was not till the next morning. Maan not wanting to risk another night with Geet and her antics, decided that they drove back to Delhi.
