Part Five

The Mirrors!

Geet was broken.

She hid herself as she heard the girl squeal, "I love this bracelet! It is so amazing Maan"

"Well, That is exactly why I wanted to buy it for you!"she heard Maan say.

There was a silence and Geet was about to peep out when she heard Maan's voice, "Sam, why ain't you wearing the yellow dress I kept for you?"

Geet was stunned at the revelation.

The dress was for Sam?

Angry tears rolled down.

She felt cheated, betrayed..

The only thing she knew was to Run..to run away from the place!

Maan and Sam looked at the running form of Geet.

"I told you that our plan will work!" Maan told Sam smirking.

"Maan..what if she?" Sam started but immediately shut her mouth as she saw Maan's glare.

"18 hours to go, Sameera Gupta..18 hours to go before Geet confesses!"

Geet ripped off the yellow dress and laid down on her bed crying.

She hated it!

Just moments ago, she had badly wanted to see Maan..But now!

She did not know for how long she lay on her bed crying.

There was a knock on her room, and Geet told, "Go Away!"

"Geet..Open the door, it's me, Anvesha!"

"I don't want to see you!"

"Geet.."

She heard Anvesha whine.Helping herself to get up, she opened the door and collapsed into Annie's arms crying.

"Hey? What's wrong?" she asked concerned as Geet continued to cry.

"Is it wrong to fall in love?"

Annie was shocked at the question.

"Geet?" she called out as she placed an arm over her shoulder.

"I.." Geet began as she told Annie everything.

Unexpected and out of the blue, Annie started laughing so hard that she had to clutch her stomach.

"What the hell's wrong!" Geet screamed as Annie laughed again!

"Idiot! Sam is bhai's best friend!" Annie said as Geet flushed.

Best friend?

And..and.. she had thought that they were LOVERS!!

"But.. what if..what if they love each other?" Geet asked Annie still unsure.

Annie slapped Geet's forehead and said, "Princess, Sam is engaged! She is getting married soon! And you know to whom?"

Geet did not dare to ask who the person was.

Annie smiled and continued, "Dev"

"Dev?" Geet repeated again.

Geet knew that Maan and Dev were best of friends and more like brothers. Dev would often come and stay with them in the mansion. Because of that, she and Dev shared a brother-sister relationship.

Dev always told Geet that she resembled his dead sister very closely and Geet suddenly remembered that Dev had once mentioned that he was in love with an NRI's daughter and he'd bring the girl to the mansion on the eve of her coronation.

Geet smiled-rather say GRINNED.

She was happy.

"Then why didn't Dev come to the mansion still?" Geet asked Annie.

"He'll be her any moment. Did you forget? It's his dad's dead anniversary today!" said Annie.

Geet wiped her tears as she told Annie, "mujhe aapki bhai se milna hai"

She was about to run out of the room when Annie caught her by the shoulder.

"Woah! Madam, you will not go anywhere until bhai asks you to!" she said grinning.

"Bhai asks me to?" Geet repeated again.

Annie bent down in her ears and whispered, "Surprise!"

Annie looked at the doorway as a servant brought in a pink frock and Geet gasped at it's beauty!

"This?" Geet whispered as Annie said, "Bhai's surprise!"

Geet did not know for how long she stood in front of her dresser admiring the frock.

Inside it was a handwritten note and Geet reread it!

Dearest Princess,

I want to see you at 4.00 AM in the morning in this frock before you get ready for your coronation.

I will be waiting for you at the Private Garden.

-Maan

Geet kept the letter close to her heart as she savoured the feel of her beating heart.

"I love you Maan!" she whispered before she drifted into sleep.

Geet's alarm rang as she opened her droopy eyes.

She woke up with a start realizing that it was alreay 3.15 AM.

Having a light shower, she dressed herself and ran towards the Private Garden.

Maan was waiting in the Private Garden checking the time.

"10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2..1.. And now!" he said as he turned around and saw Geet standing there panting.

The 18 hours had come to an end as Maan walked towards her taking in her ravishing beauty!

Geet walked towards him and once she reached him, she felt her eyes getting blinded!

Maan had dissappeared and all Geet could see was Mirrors!

There were so many mirrors that enclosed her.

Maan had switched on the cereal lights of the palace and their reflections were torturing Geet!

"Maan!" she shouted closing her eyes and protecting them.

She felt all the light dissappear and she opened her eyes to only find Maan staring at her intently, the same way he ha stared at her the day he returned,

"Maan" she whispered as she attempted to turn around.

She gasped as she felt Maan's hands on his shoulder.

"Three years are over Geet.. I promised you, remember that I will show you the girl whom I love? Well..See it yourself!" he said as he dissappeared again.

Geet looked around excitedly and all she could see was herself!

"Maan..Are you che.." she was about to ask that if he was cheating her when it struck her!

All the while, he had meant HER!

She felt her cheeks heat up as she called out to him, "MAAN!"

Maan came behind her and whispered in her ear, "Did you see the girl?"

Geet blushed as she caught him by the collar.

She slammed her lips onto his as she murmered "Love you" into the kiss..and that was all meant to bound them for eternity!

...

"MAAANNN" Geet yelled waking up from her afternoon nap.Maan had forcibly made her sleep knowing that her not resting properly would harm the baby.

"Geet?? What happened?" he yelled as he came running into the room.

Geet was hyperventilating and Maan immediately held her hand.

She looked at him and said, "I..I..The baby.."

Maan panicked.

"I will call the doctor now..Stay Calm" he assured her as he stood up to dial the doctor.She watched him getting frustrated upon not reaching the doctor

Geet stared at Maan. he hadn't changed at all!

It was a year since they were married and 5 years they dated.

Maan was adamant that they married once Geet completed a UG degree and MBA.

She couldn't stop falling for him over again when he told her that, he wanted her to be educated because he did not want anyone else to tutor their kids rather than her.

Geet rested her head on the back rest of the huge bed as she heard the sound of papers turning.She looked at her Pink Diary lying on the table, opened.

She smiled fondly as she took it and ran a loving hand over it.

One day, she would pass this diary to her daughter or would let her daughter read it to her.

"Geet?" enquired Maan's voice as soon as he saw tear drop gather in the corner of her eyes.

She shook her head and took his hand and placed it on her belly.

She saw Maan's eyes widen with surprise.

"The baby..It..kicked didn't it?" he asked carassing her belly.

"That was what I wanted to tell you!" she whispered and Maan Moved forward to seal the gap when they heard Annie's voice from outside, "GEET?"

"Oh!" they both groaned, "Not Again!"😆
