Interpreting The Dance Sequence

Ok so I know that a lot of people were not thrilled with the dance sequence in today's episode. I have to admit, I was one of them until I watched for the second time and instead of paying attention to the dance steps (which were all over the place and why I didn't love the dance on my first viewing) I paid attention to Maan and Geet's expressions through out the sequence, as suggested by the lovely Z/Mk.Gh in her take the on dance.

Here is the discussion we had about the dance sequence after my second viewing:

S: When they come down the stairs, Maan can see that Geet is worried and not entirely happy, even though this should be a joyful day for her. So in the dance, Maan keeps trying to distract Geet from her worry by making her smile, laugh and feel romantic. And it's not easy because he gets Geet to smile every now and then but then she keeps descending back into her worried state.

Maan is stroking her hair, falling and her knees and yet she is still a little spaced out until he takes her into his arms and just surrounds her with them and finally she completely forgets the stalker, not to mention the rest of the world and finally falls completely into the moment and dances with Maan.

Z: GurTi barely had time to rehearse .. I mean they rehearsed right before they shot the sequence.. so at places it looked like just plain GurTi fun LOL .. and I think that makes it more natural and not rehearsed in the episode.. I mean they didn't show Maaneet rehearsing for a dance like they did for their sangeet.. so if at places it looked like they were off or it wasn't consistent.. that shows the natural instincts of the dance.. as if to say its just Maaneet trying to have a good time ..
and I agree Samana the key is expressions .. Geet kept getting worried during the sequence.. kept going back to the fear of the stalker and MSK tried to pacify her with his cheery mood .. he's doing it all just for her.. because you can see how serious he became when he was with the Commissioner.. and that's also when we see Geet being in a half-tensed mood since Maan is missing and she is left alone even if she is amongst a crowd..

S
: Exactly. At first it looked like Geet was just trying to have fun for Maan's sake to keep him happy. She only completely let go right at the end when he took her in his arms!

I love that this man is willing to make a fool of himself, crack silly jokes and perform OTT gestures just to make his girl smile. And Geet is willing to smile through all her worry and trauma so that Maan won't be worried.

They care about each other so much! Truly, when they are together they need fear nothing because Maan will save Geet and Geet will save Maan from any museebath that comes their way and they have proven it time and again!

Z:
Don't you just love that a rough and tough man like MSK is willing to go to any lengths to make her happy? People may laugh at his guitar play today but honestly I found it adorable because the reason he was doing it was to make Geet SMILE and LAUGH and just plain enjoy herself. I mean its his girl's birthday .. he doesn't want to see her shed tears the entire time :(

S:
As for the guitar, I have to admit I didn't get it at all the first time I watched. I was like where did that come from and why? But now I realise that long with the lighter and falling on his knees, it was an attempt to divert her attention away from what he knew she was thinking about and like you said, make her birthday a happy time for her. He is SO SWEET but only to Geet. That is what I love. She breaks down only and only in front of him because she knows he will understand and never think less of her or think she is weak and he acts like a goofball only for her, for the same reasons.

----------

This was our spontaneous take on the dance, the context and the expressions of our impossibly gorgeous leads. I hope that if you were not happy with the whole thing this gives you a new perspective and if you did love the sequence, you can join both of us in gushing madly about our overwhelming love for these two impossibly beautiful and in love characters! ❤️

Thanks for taking out your time and making the topic Samana :) I really hope people read this.
You already know I agree with you like I mentioned in the den.

The dance was supposed to be a very spontaneous dance, not a rehearsed one. It was fun and jovial, not passionate. In fact it would be quite odd if the dance was passion filled, as Geet is worrying her butt off and she knows she's in danger. Maan is trying to be the loving husband he is and cheering her up, isn't that what he has always done? Pick her up when she falls, get rid of her woes.

I must admit the dance was a little unclean but how many of us rehearse a full dance to perfection before we party? I'm a dancer myself but when I party I forget that and just go crazy because I want to have fun. It's all about letting yourself go.

I think what made it worse was the background dancers, they just made it look even messier. Bad choice. The song and the atmosphere could have been better but other than I have no issues with the dance. Despite this is GC's first day back, and they only had a couple of hours to rehearse and shoot they did a good job. Not a brilliant job, but a good one.

Awesome postManeet are just awesome, it wasnt supposed to be a passionate hot dance
It was to show the whole atmosphere, the most importance thing it showed was the love that existed between maneet
Maan acted like that so he could make Geet remember her special day, i think it was very sweet

Aww thankyou Samana for putting this up 🤗
Like I said in our discussion .. the key is expressions first, then perhaps the dance -- not necessarily the steps -- and why they were dancing and doing certain things like MSK playing the guitar, going down on his knees, playing with her hair, etc.. its all an attempt to pacify Geet's fearful heart and let her enjoy her special day in this very special moment between the two. I mean at the end of the day we should be enjoying the fact that even in a tension-filled atmosphere Maaneet were able to enjoy themselves for a bit and forget the rest of the world and just have plain fun with each other .. you could tell that Maaneet were 'improvising' at certain places... this wasn't a rehearsed dance so I'd like to think that they improvised most of the dance hence it wasn't a logical sequencing of steps but more like them just making up dance moves as they went along. Point of the dance was to have fun .. doesn't matter if they were in sequence but what mattered was that they had a good time .. and so did we :D!

Good post. 👏

I have seen few of my teen-age male friends doing the same (style marofying) as MSK was doing with the guitar, his wink, on his knees, hand kiss and all, in a party, to impress some gals, so it did not look out of context to me.

To tell you the truth this is how I usually dance. What ever steps comes to mind, salsa, ball, bhangda, twist, even koli dance too. I have also noticed that such dances are very infectious you find others joining you too if you are enjoying it.

I felt the dance was perfect. just a freak out dance and leads were enjoying it as evident from their smiles and chipka chipki dance movements.

And mind you ... Maaneet were having fun 😆 and how 😳 😉

Samana and Z very interesting discussion by both ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ And thanks a lot Samana for this much needed post 👏👏
I think the piont is if we watch the dance sequence from a technical POV ,then we might find lots of flaws in it in terms of choreography ,editing and flow
but if we watch the dance simply from a Maaneet POV where both r celebrating love ,then we will love it simply because throughout the dance MSK just wanted to make Geet happy and Geet just wanted to be in MSK's arms 😳
So in the dance sequence I feel Maaneet's emotions mattered more than the choreography at least for me and so I loved it 😳
