Zee: Geet has forgiven him verbally that does not mean, he cannot be taken to court and face the law of the land. 😊

Some thoughts for you guys to consider...

  • When Geet has not been characterized as thinking she was raped, any view to the contrary is just projection is it not? Geet was characterized as thinking her had cheated her and she wanted justice for herself and her baby. Did she not go to the police station only to be denied justice? Did they not treat her badly? So the moral of the story is you are never going to get justice so you might as well forgive your perpetrator and move on? 😕
  • Is justice not subjective thereby rendering the writer's sketch of Geet's view the only relevant one? It would be if the writers were consistent with their characterization but they are not. The only consistent character has been NT. Everyone one else has been butchered especially Geet's character and Maan's character is up next.
  • Geet was not ever created as a show with a social message so why start now? Well they claimed to have a social message when they started all right and that is the way the show was promoted. They lost their way somewhere and decided to turn it into a romance drama which would still have worked if they kept their eye on the ball. They screwed up bad because they wanted to exploit Maaneet chemistry so they made it a trip-fall-catch series. Then they decided that they would not use their best asset and decided to put their best asset on the back burner and come out with lame storyline instead. As a result the message got completely lost.
Take a chill pill guys! Nothing is worth this much of heart burn...least of all a show. Completely agree with you on that one. 😆 😆 😆

@ An and Anvi

Anvi amazing you managed to encapsulate everything I else I wanted to say but did not have the strength to type. 😆 Attagirl ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

An amazing post as always.....balanced and practical.😃
⭐️
The writers did not have the guts or the foresight to play out that track. They say justice delayed is justice denied. Sadly this is the state of the real world. But the truth of the matter is that justice is very hard to come by and one needs to be very strong and fight a long winded battle to get that. Look at the Jessica Lal case. Her family could have just forgiven him and moved on. But they chose to fight. Now that he is behind bars they can find some peace.

Geet is very vulnerable right now. I get that. But I do not get this logic of how her not forgiving Dev caused her to lose the baby? I fail to grasp this completely. Is she saying that she lost the baby because she did not forgive the baby's father? But then did she herself not say Maan not Dev was the baby's father? It makes no sense whatsoever?

As Anvi said it is the lack of logic in the whole fiasco that is bothering me. Also What exactly did Dev do to merit this forgiveness. NOTHING AT ALL 😡 😡 😡. He donated blood but any family member would be bound by honor to do that. So why are they making a big deal about that. I did not get what daadi said saying "He did penance". You go daadi 👏 👏 👏(Again writers screw up and create pendulum daadi) What the 🤬........ he did nothing to set his mistakes right..... he was not even around the protect her from his psycho wife and now he is directly responsible for the problems between the couple.

It would have made more sense if Dev spent his time doing good for some people like maybe in an orphanage or a battered women's shelter. He did none of that. So why exactly did daadi say he did penance?

The USP of their show whether they want to admit it or not is Maaneet. I am not against the separation. In fact I was one of the people who supported the IP track. But their execution sucks big time. And this has been the problem with all their tracks. The execution is pathetic and lousy to the extreme. The timing of the forgiveness does not gel with me and neither does the way it was executed. So I have major issues with the writing. The think tank seriously needs to evaluate where they are going and how they are going to get there without destroying the characters of Geet and Maan. They also need to figure out how to keep their existing fan base (which has eroded considerably) because they are not being consistent in their characterizations. Plus for a long time their story was going nowhere because they kept jumping from one thing to another .....opening new loops without closing old ones........there was so much yarn lying around no wonder they tripped on all those open loops 🤣 🤣 🤣.

I 👍🏼 your words. Yes forgiveness may reconcile her heart's bitterness to peace, but Dev's actions cannot go unpunished by law. Seriously this tilt to finally the issue that a woman upholds dearly as justice being overlooked is no small fact. Its happening in the world of today but the serial was to definitely honor what is neglected in the world and become a morale booster for women. I feel at a loss for words.

Jhan: Have they ever elaborated or given appropriate reason? Anvi keeps waiting for crucial scenes but they expect viewers to assume and fill in the blanks. Sadly, shows having social messages do not work and this forum would have a deserted look if it had not turned into Mills & Boon.

I may have a word or two for your points, but me too lazy to type at the moment. 😆 Btw, are you free for an hour or so? Me need some help from you.

I don't feel anything wrong about the forgiveness given by geet. She wants to detach herself from her past and have nothing from that have any bearing over her fresh start with Maan since she she feels that Dev is truly repenting. For her happiness of Maan is paramount at this juncture and even overshadows any wish of fighting for justice that she may have.

Well, it is the repentance part I am not so convinced about.

The makers have tried to show Dev as a repenting soul, good intention but not convincing because his attempts at that are rather trivial. If he truly wants to repent, he should surrender to law.Agreed Naintara manipulated evidences and got them bailed out but now since she is in coma, Dev can get the witnesses and prove their crime. But, just by trying to do some so called favours on Geet and Maan, he can't redeem himself. Of course this is the character of Dev as we have known it as he always has chosen the easy way out (maybe without his realising it too!)😒
