They have been building upto this moment for the last 3 months. We have been asking for Geet to tell the truth. Now that it has happened, I have mixed feelings.
1) Geet was unable to tell Maan the complete truth
2) Dev coming in between Geet and Maan- is he going to help Maan put together the remaining pieces of the puzzle?
Now that I have had the benefit of watching the episode again š..i quite liked the episode
On the first, I guess it makes for better story telling- her telling Maan just that- "I am pregnant". Moreoever, I agree that is her immediate reality...more than Dev's betrayal it is her pregnancy that has ended up alienating her from everyone
Even if its temporary, its alienated her from Maan too.
I guess, the next couple of weeks are going to heart wrenching- as Maan struggles with his demons and comes to grips with Geet's reality and Geet deals with Maan's rejection. It would appear to her as a rejection- I mean just seconds before Maan promised to be with her every step of the way- and finally when she let him into her life- he backed off and turned away.
The new promo seems to imply that Maan is back to his angry young man avatar- how is he going to deal with being aorund Geet and how is Geet going to put up with Maan's behaviour. Poor Geet, my heart goes out to her. I hope the writers somewhere show that what is it that really hurt Maan- the absolute truth of her reality or is it that she did not trust him enough to CONfide in him earlier?
I hope over Maan starts piecing together the remaining pieces of the puzzle- What was Geet's past- I hope she tells him herself (boring from a soap trps POV)-so probably its going to either be Dev or maybe we will again revisit the HP track!
Actually after seeing how events have unfolded this week- i think that the "chaand and raat ek dusre ki taqdeer hain" scene would have been more profound when Maan finally comes to terms with Geet's past.
I personally felt that the editing could have been crisper in the last segment. They had built up the Maan-Geet CONfession slowly over the last couple of weeks...but the Dev-Maan CONfession/CONfrontation to me appeared to be very knee jerk..what was the tipping point for him that he decided that he had to speak to Maan right now?
Therefore, when they juxtaposed Maan-Geet with biker dude Dev I just found it very jarring...plus the music used was so in contrast to pee loon..it just ended up irritating me....
If they had built up the tempo for the Maan-Dev face-off along with the love birds then the two scenes in parallel would have made a huge impact...I mean Dev is walking into the wedding venue (if it indeed is the wedding venue) as Maan is walking out...aah the irony of it!
Plus I think the scene did not need a Naked/Biker dude Dev..that was just so inconsistent...I hope that is not an indication of a future track...Dev's underhandedness and ratty behaviour is the perfect foil for Maan's steadfastness and integrity. I understand that no one is black and white...Dev has always been a dark grey...while he may feel remorse..all of a sudden him wanting to become a saint-just doesn't sit well with his character. It was not a momentary lapse in judgement-what he did to Geet. It was a carefully thought out plan- it was deliberate. So he may feel guilty- but him wanting to make it right now just seems strange.
So please keep him on the dark side- it would make a far more interesting story rather than a cliched love triangle- with Dev wanting to reclaim Geet and the baby.
