She reads the name- Dev calling.
By the time Maan comes back, Geet is anxious and really depressed.
Maan- Yeh lo, garam garam gaajar ka halwa....
Geet? what happened? are you ok?
Geet- Maan. Sit in the car. close the door.
Maan does so, and with foreboding in his heart, he asks her again
Maan- Geet. Kya hua? you're...you're crying?
Geet wipes her tears and tells him
Geet- Dev called. Twice.
Suddenly Maan loses his temper..feeling extremely angry thinking about the wrongs done to Geet, he doesn't say anything
Geet looks sideways and asks,
Geet- Maan..you never told me what you said to Dev- about your talk and your decision.
Maan- He wants to come back probably. Feeling sorry for what he did.
Geet misunderstands
Geet- aap sab mard, ek jaise hotein hain. You only care about each other. Your brother- no matter how many wrongs he has done, you will still take his side. He wronged me, made me pregnant, and instead of taking responsibility about it, he insulted ME and pretended he didn't even know about it- that it's MY fault. DID I GET MYSELF PREGNANT???
And after all this- YOU get married to me- the ever dutiful, and dispassionate MAan Singh Khurana who will do his best to cover up the faults of his younger brother.
Maan is so hurt by what she said
MAan- Geet..please listen..
Geet- No Maan..just, let's go home. I have listened enough from everyone..You don't start. This is a marriage of convenience and I was wrong if I thought we could be on talking terms. From now on, let's just be 'dutiful' as that's the only thing you can do best.
And don't talk to me.
Maan is angry, confused and hurt all at once. He drives and during the way, Geet is staring outside her window, while Maan is staring alternately at her and then the road..wondering how to explain things to her...wondering how to explain what he did and how to make her learn sarcasm..because that is all that he was being when he said Dev was repentant.
Geet staring out the window wondered how she could be so stupid as to actually believe Maan saw her as someone other than he had a duty towards. Of course, this is what he had promised but hte past few days, she had thought they were becoming friends- he smiled more, talked less rudely, and gave her all she wanted..then why?
Probably a part of his duty only, she thought bitterly and then checked herself.
But Geet, this is what you had wanted...isn't it?
Both lost in thoughts of each other, neither paid attention to the fact that this was their first after marriage argument.
A special occasion which showed how they were affected by each other's habits, and how they needed the other to work on them
Reaching home, Geet removes her seat belt, picks up her halwa (which is cold) and gets out of the car.
MAan does the same, sans halwa and goes inside..neither realising that inside the party is still on!
