It was time.
Maan gestured to Geet that she should go to her room and wait- he will come to her soon.
He did, 5 minutes later and then..unsure of how to begin..he thought he should get straight to the point
Maan- Geet. Before I begin. I want you to promise me that you are going to listen to me..all the way through before saying anything. Please?
Geet nods and Maan began
Maan- The day I got to know, I was filled with anger. Anger at, not you, but him and Naintara. More than that- I felt anger at myself- If I had not refused to help him and settle his debts, this would not have happened. So i felt horribly guilty. I kept thinking that this was my fault and led back straight to me.
I wanted to go confront him, as I thought he could be honest, but I needed to make sure I had all facts right- so I called Munshiji. I can trust him in such matters and he found out the name of the man who betrayed you, how he betrayed you and even cross checked with the dalaal who sold me the zameen(that information was confidential) But,(laughing a bitter laugh)- Maan Khurana ko koi nahi rok sakta.
So I got to know the whole story and then went to dadi.
She needed to know Geet. She deserved to know. So I told her. Both of us decided that I was going to try and make Dev confess. So I went and talked to both Dev and Naintara.
They lied their way through, saying that they were in Canada the whole time and even got false witnesses. I felt utterly disgusted. It was only your thought that stopped me from blurting out the whole thing. I needed to play this quite carefully.
So I decided that I will give him a warning cum threat- that I need to know the details of what he did for the past two months by the next day or else, I will find out through some one else. That scared and shocked them but they LIED.
Geet, you know how much I hate those who lie. Especially about something as big as this- that has hurt someone and destroyed someone's life completely.
So the next day, when they poured their tale, I caught them out and very calmly told them to leave the house and never set foot in it. EVER AGAIN. I took Dadi along and she said that from now on she has only two grandsons- Me and Vicky. We broke all relations with both of them and asked them to Get out and never set foot in our house again. or anywhere near you.
They left. Yesterday when you told me about his calls, I got so angry but I didn't want to lose my temper and scare you and our child so I just used my next best weapon-sarcasm, which you obviously misunderstood..Geet, I will never allow him anywhere near you.
Geet sat stunned while she heard Maan out. How could she have misunderstood the situation so bad that she had actually doubted Maan's sincerity? How could she have not understood the pain he went through as he removed his younger brother from his life- all for her sake?
Maan- Geet? Ab toh bolo?
Geet- Maan. Mere paas kehne ke liye kuchh nahi hai. Please, I'm tired. I want to sleep now.
Maan feeling completely morose at this time, wished her a good night and left the room to go to his- to think his way through a long long night while Geet slowly undressed , and dressed in her night suit, tried to make sense of everything.
Geet tried to remove the necklace but a few strands of her hair got stuck in between and she yelled in pain, being extra sensitive at this time
As their rooms were next to each other, MAan heard and came running into the room
MAan- Kya hua Geet??
Geet's eyes were tear-filled because of that pain and Maan came closer,
Geet- woh..necklace nahi utar raha tha.. I tried to remove it with force and hair got stuck. I'm fine, I will manage
Maan- Chup Geet. Peeche mudo. He undid the necklace for her slowly while having an eye-lock via the mirror.
Then, realizing her plea to be alone, he abruptly turned and left.
Having nothing better to do, Geet lied down, and tried to think..but she was very tired and slept as soon as she lay her head on the pillow.
She was running again..searching for someone, something...she could not find..she was scared and desperate for that something or someone- it was worth that struggle she was going through. She NEEDED to reach there...Suddenly, something pulled her back and she screamed.
Maan after having slept fitfully suddenly woke up from his slumber hearing Geet screaming for him.
He rushed to her side and held her hand, he calmed her like one would calm a child after a nightmare. He sat on the bed beside her, and she suddenly got up and hugged him tight. Very tight.. It was difficult for him to breathe but he held on-trying to calm her skittering heart beat and pulse, waiting while her breathing got even again.
Maan- Shh...Its okay..I'm here. I am always here. Please, shh..so jao..Go to sleep. I'm here.
Geet- Please don't leave me. I cannot see you. I cannot find you. I cannot get to you...They're stopping me
She mumbled half sentences which made no sense to Maan, nevertheless he tried to calm her down, made her lie once more while locked in the embrace..so that he finally lay down next to her.
Holding her as close as he could under the circumstances, he closed his eyes and slept.
It was 9 am and neither Maan nor Geet had been answering the knocks in their rooms.
Dadi got worried and decided it was better to just go to Geet's room. At least she won't get angry or irritated like Maan.
The sight that greeted her sent her into smiles and she thought to herself
Dadi- I was right. They are perfect for each other.
They look like small lost kids who finally found all that they were looking for in each other. Maan had been serching so hard for that sense of happiness but all he got was success. Geet, bless her had been looking for happiness, and instead found Maan. They are each others' strength and each others' weakness. I pray to God they realise what they mean to the other soon.
Dadi had her phone with her and unable to resist, snapped a picture of them and quietly closing the door behind her, went downstairs for breakfast humming.
Hope you guys liked it!
