“Its not going to matter to her, I doubt she wants to hang with you or your friends in Europe, she has never met them before, except briefly during events at home”

“It sounds insulting when you say she doesn’t want to hang with me. I am not exactly holding my breath either love” Smrita gently told her son off

“You started this Mum”

“I did not, I made plans with friends, you know Kumud Aunty, Suneela Rekhi, Bela Narula, my best friends and Rumi (Tandon) and if Rumi goes how can we leave Lekha behind”

“I agree, I did not expect you or Lekha to lie through your teeth though” he said grimly

“NOBODY lied Raanu”

“Mum.. Mum…. Stop” he raised his hand

“I am willing to bring her with us”

“Like I said she wouldn’t want to go”

“Poochho to”

“So you never asked?”

Smrita looked ashamed for a second

“Meri interrogation kar rahe ho?” she asked hoarsely driven to tears

She was cornered and he was going to have at it

“You are unable to get past your stereotypes Mum” he growled

“I am not prejudiced OR stereotyping ANYONE”

He already had a very damning footage of her in his mind of Smrita telling him Viveka had refused to go with the women

“She has different taste in life you know, we were chatting with friends that other day Viveka was getting ready to go and someone said you should bring her and Viveka said wish she had time to plan or something” Smrita spun a beautiful web, or so she thought about the hushed undertone she was having with her famed coterie one morning

Her narration was offensive and stupid and he watched his Mum double down on it

This was a really tough one! He loved his Mum and she had done something really terrible to someone he loved

“You don’t have to invite her, you don’t have to be friends with her but I don’t expect you to lie. I expect Lekha to lie. Or sorry let me back up I don’t expect Lekha to lie but I don’t really know or care to figure that one out. But I know and care to figure out things between you and Viveka Mathur”

“Itni badi baat NAHI HAI BETAAA” smriti cooed reaching for a hug “I can text her right now and we can add a ticket for her”

He sighed

“No” he said

“I am not her dushman”

“Well its not about that. She was never really invited formally, and you and lekha lied about it and you again lied about it now” he said quietly

“Nobody lied to you, I was right and wrong, she heard about the plans, and she didn’t express interest and so is not part of the group, I should have insisted but I thought maybe she has a different mindset so she wont go anyway” Smrita smiled slowly

In her mind this answer made perfect sense

If only Raanu would buy it

“Viveka does not envy the live we lead Mum” he said quietly

If Raanav had struck Smrita across her face it would have stung less

He had walked away

He showed up at Srivastavs at 9 PM ish

She was heading out soon anyway after dinner

He showed up and found her in a melee of women dancing and singing in one of the big living rooms

She was teaching two 20 somethings a certain dance move, Piyush was somewhat hitting on one of them

The fact that she was being left out of a Birkin, Dolce Gabbana shopping trip, Michelin restaurant sidewalk café breakfasts didn’t seem like it even mattered to her

Diya ran over to him

“Hi! Are you looking for my sister?” she asked shyly

“My wife actually” he smiled patting her cheek

“There is a tradition in Indian weddings, where we are supposed to hide the shoes of the groom we never did that because u guys got married in such a hurry” Diya shared her long held disappointment

“I do know that… I am Indian BTW” he smiled

“Oh yeah yeah sorry… you don’t speak like us so I often get confused

“U shud teach me Hindi”

“I will probably teach you words Dadi scolds us about” she went on her toes to whisper into his ear

They both have a good laugh about it

Viveka spots him in the crowd, “You need someone who looks at you like he looks at me” she whispered in Piyush’s ear

He watched his cousin turn a selfconscious red

you just had to ask her and she would have said no. Case closed. But nope u lied to ur son not once, but twice. Your beloved Bahu also got caught lying on ur behalf. Chi chi 😔

It’s clear there are going to be consequences to this bs by Smrita, how far will Raanav go Nisha..

Inspite of everything tried by Satyen and Raanav, Smrita has not been apologetic for any of her actions or words. Don't know if it's her confidence in the men or her arrogant belief of superiority, but she defends all her actions, all her lies relentlessly.

Nothing makes a dent on the woman!! Whyy?? In fact, her conviction is only growing stronger!

Smrita will never agree that she did not ask Viveka to come to the Europe trip with her and that upset and angered Raanav. She feels that Raanav will forgive her as he is her son and has the same values as her. But she does not realise that Raanav is trying to change . As for Viveka, she does not care about the stupid shopping trip to Europe.

At this age Smrita spent hours in chemical peels and botox and facials and spas

Millions a year

Viveka had youth on her side. But soon her son was going to tire of her

It is unfortunate that Smrita thinks looks is what has kept her marriage intact or that Raanav too is only looking for looks in his marriage.

She is actually insulting both her husband and her son by having such thoughts.

I expect Lekha to lie. Or sorry let me back up I don’t expect Lekha to lie but I don’t really know or care to figure that one out.

Raanav does really have very low opinion about Lekha. Is it because he has seen her superficial nature in the last few years or is there is any other reason?

Smrita and Lekha got caught lying but the women have no shame. Their superiority complex will never allow them to admit they were ever wrong. Smrita thinks she can spin lies and everything that comes out of her mouth will just be taken as gospel.

What was the look Viveka caught when Raanav showed up? Glad she saw it and revels in it. That look is the reason she will stay in this relationship if Smrita does not manage to push her out.
